Orogenic gold deposits are a type of hydrothermal mineral deposits. More than 75% of the gold mined by mankind throughout history belongs to the class of orogenic gold deposits. Rock structures control both the transport and sedimentation processes of mineralizing fluids, create highly permeable tectonic pathways, and concentrate deposition in structurally controlled locations, thus improving orogenicity at all scales. It is the primary control of gold mineralization.
