TEMPO.CO - Indonesia is a vast country rich in natural resources. But it does not mean that the country’s food security is in a good term. On the contrary, it has worsened because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Indonesia’s position fell from 62 to 65 out of a total of 113 countries in the global food security index in 2020. Indonesia was also in the 55th place for the affordable indicator, 34th in the availability category, and 89th in the quality and safety category. It puts Indonesia in the 5th in Southeast Asia in that index. Although the condition is improving this year, the problem of the food security still prevails.
Why did those happen?
How can we transform our agri-food system to be more sustainable?
How to motivate the public, especially the young people, to be actively involved in the food system?
Do we now need to look at the food on our dining table now, whether if it follows the sustainable food system?
Mr. Rajendra Aryal, Representative/Country Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Indonesia and Timor-Leste will talk about all of that at TEMPO TALKS.
