The latest RMT strikes are underway as thousands face more travel chaos this Christmas. It comes as workers in many other industries are also set for strike action. Anyone planning to travel by train have been advised to arrange their travel plans well in advance.

Members of the public have been laying flowers at Babbs Mill Lake after three boys died and a fourth fights for his life after falling into the icy waters. One of the boys named as Jack Johnson has been described as a hero after jumping in the lake to save other children.

The top state secondary schools in Birmingham have been revealed in the Sunday times' Parent Power Guide 2023. In Birmingham, King Edward Camp Hill School for Boys was named as the best secondary in the city, with Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for girls in second place.
