Glasgow. Maxwell Square Park. Dancing Christmas Tree.

Glasgow Christmas tree dancer who went viral is back on the streets for a massive 24-hour challenge.
Two years after Kate E. Deeming's Christmas tree dancing went viral, she's is back on the south side streets to dance for a full 24 hours.

This Christmas, a Glasgow community activist is back to spread holiday cheer and raise money with her humorous Christmas tree dance.

Two years ago, a video of Kate E. Deeming dancing to The Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping" went viral on Twitter and had over one million views.

Since then, Kate has become somewhat of a local legend in Glasgow's south side, where she currently resides. The money raised went toward enjoyable after-school activities for youngsters in Pollokshields.

She is now back with a massive new challenge: today, December 14, she will dance nonstop for a full 24 hours in an effort to collect money for the neighbourhood.

She stated "I started it because I wanted to spread some joy throughout the world, and that came out in dancing antics. When people see it, they are happy.

"A woman recorded me dancing dressed as a Christmas tree two years ago, and the video went viral.
"Everyone was curious about what I planned to do this year, but I only have one day because I've been so busy.

This year, Kate and Pollokshields Community Food Point have teamed up with the intention of establishing a weekly social where community members can gather, make new acquaintances, and develop connections.

There are many ways in which individuals are now struggling, so I considered what would be beneficial to the community, she said. "In addition, I've discovered that since lockdown, there has been a genuine loss of social connection.

"I believed it would be wonderful to provide a location for weekly social gatherings, a focal point for the week.
"It's about keeping in mind that a community is built around its members, and I've discovered that dancing offers me a lot of joy because both the costume and the dancing are quite disarming and reach out to everyone. We connect through these common experience."
