DESCRIPTION
Ibu Pertiwi is a popular Indonesian patriotic song which although it is often said that it was written by Ismail Marzuki, there is an opinion that it was composed by composer Kamsidi Samsuddin around 1908. The lyrics of this song are about Mother Earth, the national personification of Indonesia or the archipelago. This song is usually sung by school children in Indonesia, from Elementary and Middle School students, or played in an orchestra during the celebration of Indonesia's Independence Day. The rhythm of this song is exactly the same as the song What A Friend We Have in Jesus, written by Joseph M. Scriven which was written in 1855, and the rhythm was created by Charles C. Converse in 1868.
