Im vom Krieg zerrütteten Aleppo in Syrien ist es der Syrische Zivilschutz, im Deutschen „Weißhelme“ genannt, der immer wieder all seine Kräfte aufbietet, um der Bevölkerung zu helfen. Zu den Gründungsmitgliedern der Organisation gehören Khaled, Mahmoud und Subhi, die immer zur Stelle sind, wenn Bomben einschlagen oder Anschläge verübt wurden – unter Einsatz des eigenen Lebens retten sie Menschenleben, bergen aber viel zu oft nur noch Tote an den Unglücksstellen.
