Shanti was a short lived musical project based in San Francisco, California in the early 1970s. The group's line-up was formed of professional folk-jazzy rockin' musicians from the West and a few figures of traditional India raga music. The album features not only traditional Indian ragas but also more rock oriented tracks, improvised percussive, buzzing parts mixed with psychedelic rocking sequences, in a mixture of Eastern and Western sounds.
