1939 Artie Shaw - The Donkey Serenade
“The Donkey Serenade” is forever identified with singer Allan Jones, who introduced it in MGM’s 1937 screen adaptation of the 1912 operetta “The Firefly.” Jones’ 1938 recording was a steady-selling 78 for Victor over the years.
