00:00 Hello and welcome to Cooking For Dog.
00:16 As always our ingredients and quantities will be listed in the description box below.
00:21 Today we're going to be making Barking Bolognese.
00:25 Our ingredients that we have, we have mints, lentils, tomato puree, diced tomato, celery,
00:33 noodles, parmesan cheese and carrot.
00:36 Now you'll notice that the carrot and the celery have been ground very finely.
00:42 Dogs don't have the same digestive system as us so we can't chop the vegetables, you
00:46 either grate or you grind it.
00:48 I put mine through a food processor.
00:51 So our tools and equipment that we're going to use, we have the fry pan we're going to
00:56 be browning the mints in.
00:58 We have a wooden spoon and that's pretty much it.
01:02 So here we go.
01:07 Our beef mints, we're going to brown.
01:10 Use a non-stick pan.
01:13 Make sure the heat is nice and hot there for you so we can get the job done.
01:23 Just going to add a little bit more oil to this.
01:28 I'm using peanut oil here today.
01:31 Sometimes I use olive oil, that's good too.
01:38 You can hear that sizzling now.
01:44 It's going to be browning nicely.
01:51 Just going to fry this mint until it's all crumbly.
01:58 This is our main source of protein for this dish.
02:15 Just breaking it up so it doesn't clump together.
02:31 That's looking pretty good.
02:40 The next step, we're going to add our vegetables and our tomato puree and we're just going
02:46 to cook that for a short time.
02:47 So I'm starting with the celery.
02:48 And the carrot.
02:49 Just stir that in.
02:50 Get this in nicely.
02:51 Next I'm going to add the lentils.
03:18 Another great source of protein.
03:27 Tomato puree.
03:34 Just stirring that through so the flavor is going all through the vegetables and the meat.
04:01 Now lastly, so the flavor really develops, I've got some diced tomato here that's going
04:08 to go in as well.
04:13 Just smelling delicious.
04:33 Now we're going to leave this just to cook now for around about 10 minutes.
04:41 So I've allowed this to simmer now for the last 10 minutes.
04:45 It's looking really good.
04:46 You can see the flavor and the color's all good right through it.
04:49 We've blended it well.
04:51 And so that was just over a very low heat for around about 10 minutes, depending on
04:57 your quantity.
04:58 The next thing I'm going to do is mix in our pasta.
05:02 Now I've used an egg noodle pasta, which is just your basic spaghetti.
05:06 You can use whichever one you want.
05:08 I've already pre-cooked that.
05:12 Let's just mix that in.
05:13 My dog loves noodles.
05:15 In fact, I haven't met a dog that doesn't.
05:30 I'm just going to add a touch more water to this now that I've added the noodles.
05:36 I see it drying out a little bit, so that's all optional.
05:39 Just watch the recipe as you do it.
05:41 Water is always good to have on hand.
05:46 And here we have it looking really good now.
05:52 Now lastly, we're going to add some Parmesan cheese.
06:06 Here we have barking Bolognese.
06:09 Now we're going to take this off the heat and we're going to set it aside, allow it
06:13 to cool before feeding this to our hungry pooches.
