The words of Dolly Everett still echo in our hearts: "Speak, even if your voice shakes."
These simple yet powerful words are just as relevant today as they were when she wrote them, before she committed suicide in 2018.
This year's Do It For Dolly Day campaign is centred around those very words, spoken by Kate and Tick Everett, Dolly’s parents, as a beacon of hope, courage, and strength for a young person to do something that is so difficult to do when being bullied - speak up.
One in four young Australians will experience bullying this year, and one in seven won't tell anyone, leaving over 340,000 young people suffering in silence.
The goal of this year's Do It For Dolly Day campaign is to break the silence around bullying and help young people, parents, and carers find the courage to speak out, through education, inspiration, and the power of shared experiences.
