00:00 Hi guys, it's Heather with Makeup by Heather B. Okay, so I'm so excited to show you one
00:13 of my favorite dark lip looks that's very in trend right now.
00:17 You'll notice that I already have kind of more of a natural eye shadow look on.

00:24 because it's going to complement this look really well.
00:27 So let's get started.
00:29 For those of you who don't know, Colorado is my home base and it is so dry.
00:34 If you've ever visited here, your skin like shrivels up within like a few minutes of being
00:38 here.
00:39 So we're in the dead of winter right now and everything is dry and cracking.
00:42 So I kind of picked up my lip a little bit because it was super dry.
00:45 I know that that's bad, but you'll have to just kind of ignore that.
00:49 But on a side note, if that happens to you, I can show you kind of how to conceal it and
00:51 cover that up.
00:53 First things first though, what I've been doing to kind of just help keep my lips hydrated
00:57 is using this Joe Malone Vitamin E Lip Balm.
01:01 It's amazing.
01:02 So I really, I use this throughout the day to make sure that my lips stay hydrated.
01:06 Before I put a bold lip on, I do not use that because I don't want it to slip.
01:10 You'll see a lot of videos where people will put Chapstick or Vaseline or something on
01:13 beforehand.
01:15 That creates a slip for your lipstick and it'll kind of move.
01:18 So you want to make sure that your lips are pretty dry and have nothing on them.
01:21 Okay, so let's get started.
01:23 First thing I'm going to do is just take my foundation brush and just go over my lips
01:29 so that they kind of mute out the color a little bit and you're starting kind of on
01:32 a new blank canvas.
01:35 Okay, so this lip liner is called Vino.
01:40 It's by MAC.
01:41 It's a really pretty kind of a deeper burgundy, purpley color.
01:45 So I'm going to go ahead and line my lips first.
02:03 Okay, next I'm going to add my lipstick.
02:33 This one's Fashion Revival by MAC.
02:35 Rebel is also a really good color that they make permanently.
02:38 And I'm just going to apply this.
02:43 Okay, so we're getting a little messy here, but that's okay.
02:53 We're going to clean it up.
02:55 So once you have your lipstick on, I just kind of rub my lips together so that the colors
02:59 kind of combine and it's just nice and smooth.
03:03 You may have a little bit that comes out, but that's okay.
03:05 We're going to take a Q-tip and just clean that up and just get that kind of out of the
03:13 way for the moment.
03:15 Now typically what I do once the lipstick is on is I'll go back with my liner and just
03:18 kind of fill in, make it look like it's blended.
03:21 You'll notice like certain spots you can see the liner more.
03:24 So we're just going to go through and kind of perfect it a little bit.
03:46 Okay, so once that's done, what I like to do is I like to have a little bit of dimension
03:52 with my lip color, so I know it seems kind of crazy, but I'm going to take this, one
03:57 of NARS' lip pencils, their velvet matte lip pencil, and this one's called Bolero.
04:02 It's like a really pretty light coral.
04:05 It's beautiful by itself, but I'm going to just add a little bit of a highlight in the
04:09 center of my lips and just kind of blend together so that it creates kind of that little bit
04:24 of like, you know, darker in the corners, kind of like an ombre look a little bit, and
04:29 just a little bit brighter in the center.
04:30 This will kind of make your lips look a little bit bigger.
04:33 So if you're someone who doesn't want to do a lot of steps, you could do this and go,
04:36 but if you're someone who's like really in the search of a perfect, perfect bold lip,
04:41 I'm going to take a little bit of concealer.
04:43 Doesn't really matter what kind you use, and I'm going to take, you can use an angled brush.
04:48 I'm using like a pointed pencil brush, and I'm just going to go along the line of my
04:53 lips to just clean up.
05:08 Okay, so this is just my look on a bolder kind of pop of color lip that's not too dark.
05:27 It's very wearable for day or evening.
05:29 This is also a great look if you really don't want to do a whole lot of makeup, but you
05:32 need something to kind of spruce up your look.
05:34 This is a great option to just throw a little bit of color on your lips.
