00:00 Hey guys, welcome back!
00:15 Today I'm going to do a talk-through video showing you exactly how I apply mascara from
00:20 start to finish.
00:21 It does take me a little bit longer to do my lashes because I really like to have a
00:26 nice full lash and I like to do layers and different techniques.
00:29 So that's why I usually just fast forward it in my makeup tutorials.
00:32 So I thought it would be fun to do a video just dedicated to beautiful lashes.
00:36 I only use one mascara and this is like my baby.
00:41 I love this mascara.
00:43 This one is by Clinique.
00:44 I talk a little bit more about it in the video.
00:46 I hope that you guys will find this video helpful and let's get started!
00:50 So before putting any mascara on, I always make sure to comb through my lashes and I
00:55 use this brow comb.
00:57 The way I do it is just by looking down and then placing the comb right in the lash line
01:03 and then brushing out.
01:05 And this will basically just help to get rid of any product that might be stuck in the
01:09 lashes and it helps to separate the lashes very nicely.
01:13 So I do that first.
01:18 The next step is to curl your lashes and I don't do this on an everyday basis because
01:23 my lashes are already pretty nice and curled but if your lashes do tend to grow pretty
01:28 like straight out, then I definitely recommend curling them before applying any mascara.
01:33 When curling your lashes, always try to get to the very very base of your lash line and
01:41 then you want to almost stop, move it up a little bit, stop, move it up a little bit
01:46 until you get to the very very tip.
01:48 So you want to have it curl all the way.
01:52 You can even look down until you get exactly at the base and then you press up, move it
01:57 up a little bit, keep moving it up until you get to the very tip.
02:02 So you have a nice curl.
02:04 And now for the mascara.
02:06 The one that I swear by and that I've been using for almost about a year now is this
02:13 Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara.
02:16 This is what it looks like.
02:18 Something that you want to avoid when you get mascara is to not pump the wand because
02:23 when you pump the wand, it lets air inside the tube which will dry out the mascara.
02:29 So if ever you want to get more mascara, just turn the wand around inside the tube and then
02:35 you'll get a nice amount of product on the brush.
02:39 So when I take it out, I always just wipe off the very tip of the brush.
02:45 I first kind of open my eyes so I can get the wand nice and snug in there.
02:52 And then I'm just going to start zigzagging it first.
02:55 I'm going to zigzag in the base and then pull it up.
02:59 And if you don't want to zigzag your hands, which can sometimes be difficult, just zigzag
03:05 your head back and forth.
03:07 Like you're saying no almost.
03:13 And then I just keep doing this for a few seconds.
03:18 So I'm going to refill my wand and then wipe off the excess.
03:25 And I'm going to continue this.
03:26 So I'm going to keep zigzagging my head and keep moving the wand from left to right.
03:32 So I'm going on the outer direction, moving inwards, and then moving all the way in to
03:38 the center of the eye.
03:40 And then when it gets to the very end of the lashes, these ones right here, you want these
03:46 to sort of go flirtatiously outwards.
03:49 I think that always looks the prettiest.
03:50 What I like to do is take my wand and then sort of turn it a little bit.
03:59 And it's always nice to look down also because you can really get into the base easier.
04:07 And don't worry if you get any mascara on your lids, it happens all the time.
04:13 I just take a q-tip and wipe that off afterwards.
04:17 And I also always try to make sure that the lashes sort of fan outwards, just stroking
04:22 each lash so that it goes in the direction that you want it to go.
04:33 So now we're going to go on to the next eye.
04:35 So I'm just getting a little bit more product and wiping off the tip.
04:40 And then just looking down and start zigzagging both the wand and my head just to really get
04:48 all of those lashes.
04:51 So I'm zigzagging at the base and then pulling it straight up.
04:57 And another thing I like doing is to take the wand, as you're bringing the wand upwards,
05:04 also turn it this way so that you can get more product onto your lashes.
05:12 So I'm zigzagging and then I'm turning.
05:15 You can see my finger motion right there, turning it.
05:21 And now I'm turning the wand and I'm just going in an upward direction just to fan out
05:30 the lashes.
05:36 So I'm going to continue with the other eye and I'm now sort of just adding another layer
05:40 of mascara.
05:43 Another reason I really like this Clinique one is that it doesn't clump very easily at
05:47 all.
05:48 So I can pretty much do this until I'm happy with it.
06:01 As I said before, it's also for me just important to make sure that the lashes are fanned out
06:06 just so that they're not all going in one direction.
06:09 Just make sure that they're kind of going in a circle upwards.
06:13 And you can do this by just turning the wand this way and then placing them exactly where
06:18 you want them to go.
06:26 Okay and now I'm going to move on to the lower lashes.
06:29 I'm going to take my mascara wand and I'm just going to wipe it off a little bit on
06:35 one side and the side that I'm going to put, because I don't want to put too much product
06:39 on my lower lashes.
06:41 And just sort of place the mascara just there, just in the base of the lashes and then pull
06:49 it down very quickly because I don't want to add, as I said, too much product to the
06:53 very tips of them because I don't want it to look too heavy.
06:59 Lastly I'm just going to take a black eyeliner and the one that I really love is this L'Oreal
07:06 Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner.
07:09 It lasts a very long time in my waterline and I feel like this just helps my lashes
07:15 look fuller and it gives the lashes a little bit more depth.
07:21 And then I'm going to repeat that to this eye.
07:29 So now to clean up the lids, I'm just taking a q-tip like this, I'm just going to wet it
07:35 a little bit and then I'm going to go in and just clean away any areas where mascara might
07:44 have gotten.
07:45 I'm actually just going to add another super quick coat just to make them look even fuller.
08:05 Something that I cannot stress enough is to use a gentle eye makeup remover when you're
08:11 taking off your mascara because if you use a wipe and you're using it in a very rubbing,
08:18 harsh way, it can really tear out your lashes, it can damage them and that's no good.
08:23 So try to use a very gentle and soft eye makeup remover.
08:29 The one that I recommend is from Whole Foods and this one is called Earth Science Chamomile
08:34 and Green Tea Eye Makeup Remover.
08:36 I've been using this for years, I will always repurchase this.
08:39 I wet my whole face, I apply a little bit to my fingertips and then I wash my eyes just
08:46 like that.
08:47 Everything will just come off really, really easily and it's very gentle on the lashes.
08:51 Then to moisturize them, at night I apply a little bit of this Moroccan Argan Oil which
08:57 you can use for a ton of different things.
09:00 I apply just a little bit of this on my fingertips and then just go in the lash line and then
09:05 also just on my brows to keep them nice and moisturized as well.
09:09 I hope this video was helpful to you.
09:11 Thank you guys so much for watching and I will talk to you guys soon.
09:14 Bye guys!
