00:00 Hi there!
00:04 Today is September 5th and I'm going to be talking about, as I do my makeup, the concept
00:12 of young girls learning really how to present themselves.
00:22 And you know, growing up, luckily these days we have YouTube, which is where I learned
00:29 how to put on makeup.
00:30 But, you know, it's one thing to care about your outer appearance and it's another thing
00:36 to compare yourself to other people.
00:41 You are born with what you have and so that's what you have to work with.
00:46 Now is putting on makeup faking?
00:49 I don't think it is.
00:50 I think it's enhancing the features that you are most proud of and learning the best way
00:56 to present it.
00:58 And you know, people will judge you from outer appearances, so why not make yourself as beautiful
01:05 as you can and feel confident in your own skin.
01:11 So anyway, let's get started.
01:15 I'll try to talk through it as I'm doing it and really how I learned how to put on makeup.
01:24 Which is, you know, here and there I'll watch a lot of YouTube videos.
01:29 And I started putting on makeup in college.
01:31 So it was a really interesting time for me because I didn't know how to at all.
01:37 I'll see my mom put on lipstick and eyeliner.
01:44 She didn't really wear eyeliner either.
01:46 So it was all like eyeshadow and lipstick and foundation of course.
01:55 So those are the basics I knew.
01:57 But my mom, you know, didn't have the makeup, the abundance of makeup that we have today.
02:06 And we do have so many choices.
02:09 And it doesn't really matter what brand you choose as long as, you know, you're not allergic
02:19 to it.
02:20 And I have sensitive skin so I try to, you know, test out the products before I buy into
02:26 them.
02:27 You know, it's good to have these, I call them tools, in your tool belt.
02:48 And like anything in life, right, you just have to be willing to learn, be willing to
02:54 pick it up, and practice.
02:57 Practice, practice, practice.
02:59 Maybe the first time you try putting on makeup, it doesn't work out.
03:04 So while you look like an alien, which is kind of what I went through, you should look
03:12 at my photos.
03:14 Some ridiculous eyebrow drawing in my younger years.
03:20 And, you know, my mom will comment as per usual and say, "Your eyebrows are uneven,
03:29 they're too dark."
03:30 You know, basically, not perfect.
03:34 So you keep practicing, keep practicing until it becomes more natural and you can easily
03:44 draw.
03:54 I like putting on makeup, I think it's fun.
03:56 I like to see that transformation.
04:01 But you know, guys are, boys are always afraid to look what's underneath the mask that girls
04:07 put on.
04:08 And sometimes it's very scary.
04:13 When you're comfortable enough to show that other side of you, as long as it's not a huge
04:20 transformation, I think most guys are willing to accept it.
04:29 I think everybody who knows how to put on makeup and does it well enough to a certain
04:49 extent, would agree that five minutes in exchange for a better version of yourself, an enhanced
04:58 version, is not a bad trade off.
05:02 And it just takes some time and practice, like many other things in life.
05:09 Makeup is expensive, but you don't need to buy the, like the Chanel's or the more expensive
05:19 brands.
05:20 I'm okay with a, you know, a pharmacy brand eyebrow pencil.
05:29 I do have colored contacts that I purchased from Asia.
05:36 I have 20/20 vision, so I don't need contacts, but these are colored contacts.
05:40 And I think they make a difference.
05:45 They make me look nicer, I would say.
05:51 I take after my grandmother.
05:54 When she was younger, her eyes tilted up, so she had this cat eye look, like naturally.
06:06 And she looked very mean.
06:07 That's funny.
06:08 And then as she got older, now she's like in her 80s, her eyes kind of like started drooping,
06:15 as with age.
06:16 And it's actually funny because now she looks like she has perfectly round eyes.
06:21 No wrinkles, no like crow's nest, and like just perfect baby skin.
06:32 Which is good genetics, I suppose.
06:38 On the one half side of my family.
06:39 So I'm going to put on this contact.
06:45 One side of my face, and then the other side.
07:01 So, not a huge difference.
07:03 I would say this is like a 14.5 or a 14mm diameter contact.
07:10 It goes up to 16, which I used to wear when I was younger.
07:14 And yeah, it was a huge difference.
07:24 I stick with the browns with the grey color contacts.
07:34 So, voila!
07:35 I am done.
07:36 Oh, and the hair.
07:37 I don't spend a lot of time, money, with my hair.
07:50 I'm just lucky that I am Asian and I'm born with straight, long hair.
08:13 Just wanted to give you a final view of my going out look versus earlier.
08:23 Which I usually don't wear makeup when I'm at home.
08:26 You actually don't want to wear makeup too often because it does damage your skin.
08:30 And whenever you remove your makeup, make sure you remove it very carefully so none
08:35 of the oil clogs up your pores.
08:36 I'll see you in my next video.
