00:00 Hi everyone, I'm Michael Davids from Buffon Delacroix Hair and Makeup and today I've got
00:11 the absolutely gorgeous, lovely Suzy McCann.
00:14 How are you darling?
00:15 I'm great, how are you?
00:16 Very well, thank you.
00:18 Suzy is a songstress and she is a comedian and a very talented one at that.
00:22 You can actually catch her on YouTube as well.
00:24 But today we are going to be doing her hair and makeup as Samantha from Bewitched, that's
00:31 Elizabeth Montgomery.
00:33 Let's go.
00:35 Because this hairstyle has a lot of height and shape in it, you have to make sure the
00:39 hair is smooth.
00:40 Kinks in the hair such as this should definitely be removed.
00:44 Even though the hair is dry, the heat alone should be enough.
00:48 Now using 1 inch curling irons, roll the majority of the hair in an upwards direction.
00:56 Clip each section up and spray with hairspray.
01:00 This will help the hair set as it cools down.
01:04 The sections from the temple up are rolled downwards.
01:09 The big barrels of hair will cool on top of the head, promoting volume.
01:16 Purchase or borrow some hair extensions and prepare them in the same manner as your models
01:20 hair.
01:21 They are perfect for supporting this exaggerated hairstyle.
01:26 We are going to apply the makeup while the hair cools, but if you would like to finish
01:29 the hairstyle, please skip to 4 minutes and 35 seconds.
01:34 Prep your models skin with a primer like Porefessional by Benefit.
01:39 Evenly apply a foundation base using Kryolan's TV paint stick in color OB2.
01:48 Studying photos of Elizabeth Montgomery, I found the structure of her face, she is quite
01:53 angled around her eyes and around the pronounced area of her mouth.
01:59 So we emulate this shape by using our contouring.
02:04 Create the false angular highlights by using Kryolan Supercolor in color 406.
02:12 Blend the highlights in with a slightly damp beauty blender sponge.
02:17 Now create your shadows, make sure they are angular.
02:21 We are using color CN in Kryolan Supercolor.
02:26 It can be very tricky creating shapes and angles where they just don't exist.
02:32 But don't get overwhelmed, it's simple, study your photograph and copy.
02:37 After blending your lowlights, set the foundation with Kryolan Blending Powder.
02:43 Concentrate the powder underneath the eye to catch any loose eye makeup.
02:48 Now you've created the structure of the face, we need to make it look like she is wearing
02:53 very minimal makeup, as a housewife would.
02:57 Blend eye pencil and eye powder, soft nude highlights on the brow bone and satiny oyster
03:05 tones on the lid, just to create that tiny bit of depth.
03:10 Coral powder on the outer side of the eyelid creates very subtle depth and then using a
03:16 dark powder, create a crease in the eye socket.
03:21 Emulating the socket of Elizabeth Montgomery's.
03:24 Very light kohl powder underneath and draw on a soft medium line with BYS black pencil.
03:33 Smudge it with a Q-tip to remove any hard lines.
03:37 Add a lick of white eyeliner on the waterline to define the lashes with Their Real Mascara
03:44 by Benefit.
03:45 Here's a trick, if you find your eyelashes have a strong hard straight band, wrap them
03:50 around the end of a makeup brush, this should bend them nicely and apply them onto the lash
03:56 line of your models eye.
04:00 Brush away any of the catching dust.
04:03 Shade under the cheekbone with Inglot Bronzing Powder and use their Coral Terracotta on the
04:09 apple of the cheeks.
04:12 Line the lips using a natural coloured lip liner.
04:15 I'm using First Kiss by BYS, a light earthy colour lip liner and lipstick will give the
04:23 lips a natural appearance, not too done.
04:26 Fill in the lips with Daydreamer by BYS.
04:36 The curls should be nice and cool now, so remove the clips.
04:41 Take your first section from just below the ears and tease it adding some Expander Dust
04:47 Powder to give it some hold and flexibility.
04:50 Take your next section and add more teasing.
04:54 Not only does the teasing add volume but when you add a thick layer of hairspray it acts
04:59 as a strong base to anchor your hair extensions and pins into.
05:05 I personally like to buy bundles of hair extensions without the snap clips on them.
05:10 This way I can cut the hair to whatever size I need and bobby pins are just as strong as
05:16 clips I just find this method more versatile.
05:20 As you build your hair extension collection you can mix and match them to tailor whatever
05:24 colour you need.
05:26 Work your way up and around your clients head teasing the sections and pinning your hair
05:31 extensions.
05:33 Don't worry about pinning them too high as the teasing will disguise them.
05:37 Next we are going to make some padding for your clients hair.
05:40 Pin some hair extensions to a dummy and tease it to create a matted birds nest.
05:45 Roll it up into a ball, use lots of hairspray and then dry it with your blow dryer to set
05:51 it.
05:52 Cradle it in a fine hair net and tie it off at the top to finish the package.
05:58 At the top of your clients head divide the hair into two sections and tease it.
06:03 This will create a base for your nest of hair to sit in.
06:08 Place the padding on top and secure it with pins.
06:11 Don't worry it won't go anywhere.
06:17 You're going to create ample disguise by pinning in a small row of hair extensions right at
06:22 the front.
06:25 Flip them over and brush into place.
06:28 Sometimes your clients hair alone is too fine to cover the padding.
06:33 Now you can disguise the entire construction with your own clients natural hair.
06:39 You'll find you can mould it into shape with your hands.
06:43 Now tease the very front section of your clients hair to create the height and shape around
06:48 the front and sides.
06:53 Using your expander dust will make sure that the finished style will sit and hold its shape
06:59 nicely.
07:05 Now it's just a matter of brushing out the curls and the style moulding your clients hair
07:10 in with the hair extensions.
07:13 Use your fingers to shape the hair, brushing to manipulate it into the desired shape.
07:19 Don't be afraid to really get in there with the brush as the curls have been set in there
07:24 long ago in the cooling process.
07:27 Finish off with a spritz of hairspray and add your final touches to the style.
07:38 And there you have it our hair and make up tutorial with Miss Suzie McCann as Samantha
07:44 from Bewitched.
07:45 Did you have a good time?
