00:00 get it started. Gentlemen here and above is a legal blow here and above is a legal blow.
00:05 Obey my commands at all times. Protect yourself at all times. Okay. Touch gloves. Good luck.
00:10 Astro Lobby O has been very confident all week. He says, I will win this world championship
00:16 by knockout. He showed up with a stuffed kangaroo. Dre at the press conference in the weigh in
00:23 Sam because I think of Jason is a baby kangaroo. So he's been trying to play the trash talk
00:28 mental games as well against Maloney already taking shots at Maloney this week that doesn't
00:32 win fights, but it lets you know that he's poised and relaxed for the moment, but he
00:37 clearly believes that he's going to win this fight tonight. I'm going to tell you guys
00:41 right now at home, don't go to the restroom at all. Don't go get a drink of water or anything.
00:47 Stay close. Stay glued to your TV because both these men have packed power punches in
00:54 both hands and only takes one shot and this fight can end. Of course, this division cleared
01:07 up when now you're in a way vacated after becoming the undisputed champion, moving up
01:12 now to 122 pounds where he will have a mega fight, a unified junior featherweight world
01:18 title fight on ESPN plus against the two belt holders, Steven Fulton. That's on July 25th.
01:25 Outstanding fight. So in the wake of in a way who will take over this division that
01:34 has yet to be seen. Test starts. You guys are right here. Help answer it. Yep. No Maloney
01:40 has good technical proficiencies, no technically sound, good footwork, hand speed, ring IQ.
01:48 He has a strong jab. As you can see, he likes to set up his offense. Doesn't like to rush
01:53 you. Asher lobbyists is more of an explosive fighter. He'll use his jab, use faints here
02:04 and there, but he likes to attack you when you out of position. Most of the time with
02:09 sneaky punches from odd angles. He's always looking for power. Ashton lobby. Oh, and that
02:21 allows Maloney to pile up points and get a rhythm like you see right here with the jab
02:26 foot movements and even the two piece combinations that he's landed and Asher lobby. Oh, can't
02:32 allow Maloney to get in a good rhythm. And that is what he is doing early on here. Utilizing
02:37 that jab. And then we've already seen a couple of times throwing the right hand behind it.
02:41 That time Astro lobby of trying to time a right hand between the punches of Maloney
02:45 test. That's what he's good at. He's great at punching while offense is coming his way.
02:52 Astro lobby. Oh, goes to the body with a right hand. Filipino with two significant wins recently
03:03 had a KO of Nikolai Potapov and then decision Guillermo Rigondeaux. Right hand to the body
03:16 from Maloney. Steady work with that jab here in round number one world title on the line
03:22 between Maloney and Astro lobby. Oh, of course we will have a world championship coming up.
03:33 Steven Butler from Montreal. He's the guy who stepped up. Janabec. Got him. Hanala has
03:38 talked about as one of the most avoided fighters, the world champion Butler gets the shot. What
03:42 do we expect out of Janabec tonight? He's going to need a spectacular performance tonight
03:47 and moving forward because he can't seem to get those upper echelon guys in the ring.
03:51 Part of that is the business of boxing. A part of that is his performances. He's got
03:54 to shine tonight. He going to do it. No doubt about it. I got a bet. I had a bet with you
03:58 guys earlier today. What did I say? I said, if he doesn't knock him out, I will grow my
04:02 hair out for six months straight. Oh my goodness. Hey, listen, some guys can pick a fight on
04:11 social media. Janabec isn't one of them. In the meantime, the best thing he can do is
04:15 take the best available opponent and knock him out. It's on him to show he's a more fearsome
04:21 fighter than he was last time out with Denzel Bentley. He was so impressive in his run up
04:27 to win the middleweight championship in his WBO and then much criticized with what many
04:33 felt was an underwhelming performance in that first title defense on November 12th this
04:38 past year against Bentley. That was a 12 round unanimous decision. See right now it's the
04:45 movement of Maloney that's giving Astro Labio some problems. Astro Labio, he likes to explode
04:53 with offense, particularly hooks and right hooks. And he needs you to stay still to be
05:00 effective. But when you make him pick up his feet, he's off balance. Yeah, stay still or
05:06 be in a straight line. Yes, he's very quick if you go straight back and he's able to pursue
05:11 in a straight line. So Maloney knows this. He's been training for this guy for three
05:15 months, two months, whatever it's been. So that's why you see Maloney going left and
05:19 right with subtle movements because he's trying to keep the power puncher off balance. Maloney
05:24 had an 11 to 6 connect advantage in that first round. To your point, Frey, was steady with
05:29 the jab. He was 7 of 32 with his jabs. See, and Astro Labio, he's the type of guy that
05:34 is going to look for one mistake, just one mistake. He might throw the jab from a little
05:40 bit too close or from the wrong position. He's going to be looking in there to time
05:44 you with the right hand or left hook or some sort of power shot. That is what's coming
05:48 up next week on ESPN+ Pay-Per-View. The Undisputed Lightweight Championship of the World. Devin
05:54 Haney putting all four belts on the line against three-division world champion Vasily Lomachenko.
06:00 Outstanding fight next Saturday night on ESPN+ Pay-Per-View. There's another one-two combination.
06:06 That right hand comes in for Maloney. And Astro Labio believes in his power so much
06:12 where he'll give up multiple rounds because he believes that he will land that big shot.
06:19 Just looking for any kind of faults that are in your technique. Or again, tried it right
06:25 there. Yep. That's where he excels. Right hand to the body. We call that punching in
06:33 between punches. For Maloney, he's got to weather those storms. Good exchange from both
06:38 guys right there. Danger shot. Right uppercut as he took that angle. Astro Labio opening
06:47 up just a little bit. And he's been accurate when he does. You can tell we study film.
06:52 That uppercut was available for Rodriguez when they had fought. He kind of took a page.
07:01 That was the first title shot in the career of Jason Maloney against Emmanuel Rodriguez
07:04 when he lost a 12-round split decision back in 2018. So the reason why is because Maloney,
07:10 he leans over that front knee. When he shoots this jab, he's past his center line or vertical
07:17 line I should say. Opened himself up for an uppercut. Both men had moments of success
07:29 here in round number two. Looking for that right hand uppercut again. End of two.

08:40 California packed house as they saw Gabe Flores, their local favorite with a sensational first
08:46 round knockout victory before we came to this title fight between Maloney and Astrolabio.
08:51 Round number three. Dre, it was interesting to hear Angelo Hyder, the 57-year-old trainer
08:56 of Jason Maloney, after that second round because he said to Jason, "Don't worry about
09:01 loading up. Don't worry about the power right hand right now. Just bank rounds with that
09:06 jab." That's exactly what he's supposed to do, and he's telling Maloney that because
09:10 he's facing a dangerous puncher in Astrolabio. He can't take the risk early on. Let his punches
09:16 weaken a little bit. Let him get fatigued, and in the meantime, win rounds. It's a lot
09:23 of power on those shots even though Maloney's blocking them. That one landed. Don't want
09:27 to get hit with twos and threes in one sequence early in this fight.
09:30 Astrolabio, Timmy, able to land that left hand moments ago.
09:34 He depends on timing. That's what Astrolabio is depending on, his timing. That's what beats
09:39 speed. He's punching in between the punches of Maloney. Good offense right there from
09:52 Maloney. Nice catch on the glove by Astrolabio. At this distance and this pace, it greatly
10:07 favors Maloney. Maloney has to eat but not get greedy offensively. That's the balance
10:15 that he's going to have to play with early in this fight or at least in the first half
10:19 of this fight. Because if you get too greedy, it gives Astrolabio the opportunity he needs.
10:24 Astrolabio's explosive and the power is real. Don't want to get hit with that early on,
10:29 flush on the chin or the temple. Maloney also has to make Astrolabio pay when he makes a
10:35 mistake and when he lunges like that. He can't be too far out. He needs to be close enough
10:40 so he can make him pay. Because that will discourage Astrolabio from wanting to throw.
10:47 Using the aggressor and the power punchers offense against him. Maloney has to recognize
10:56 that pattern of Astrolabio. He kind of probes the lead hand and he's telling you he's going
11:04 to throw the uppercut. There it is again. That froze Maloney. But see Maloney got to
11:08 set him up for a left hook. And that hurt Maloney. Astrolabio stepping to him here in
11:14 the final moments of round number three. Right hand comes in. You can see the confidence
11:20 from the power punching Filipino. What I mean by froze is he stopped Maloney right in his
11:25 tracks and Maloney, that means that he was hurt and he's trying to recover and Astrolabio
11:30 figured that out. Going to take a short break and then tell you what's going on with some
11:33 drama in the locker room with Janabec and Steven Butler.
11:44 Has this happened to you? AT&T and Verizon rope you in with phone offers then bind you.
11:49 BK six dollar euro way deal for a limited time. It's a royal still. Six dollar euro

12:13 on ESPN. Janabec, Ali, Hanala and Steven Butler. Mark Kregel. What was just happening in the
12:18 locker room of Butler? Well, Agus Clemence noticed that when he went in to watch the
12:24 wrapping of Butler's hands, guess what? They were already wrapped. He said, Hey, what do
12:29 you guys do without me? Because you were late. No, I wasn't. He went to the commission. The
12:33 commission went back, made Butler rewrap. Both sides would concede. This is gamesmanship.
12:38 We'll see if it has any effect on the fight, but score one for Janabec. So Janabec's team
12:45 said cut off those wraps, rewrap them. And that is what is happening right now. As you
12:50 see, Steven Butler, the challenger from Montreal, will be taking on the undefeated middleweight
12:55 world champion Janabec Ali and Hanala. What effect does it have? Timmy, you've gotten
13:00 wrapped up. You're sort of getting into your zone. Things are timing out. And then the
13:04 opposing crew comes in and says, Wait, we didn't see these wraps go on. Obviously, it's
13:09 safety and there's really no effect. It's just annoying. That's all it is. Just the
13:13 knowing that you have to cut them wraps off and get them rewrapped to sit there again.
13:17 That's all it is. Verge used to see my opponents and I would only let him go to the opposite
13:23 dressing room. He would watch an issue or something that was illegal, something minor,
13:27 but something that he knew needed to get fixed. He would allow them to wrap completely. Then
13:30 he would complain to the commission and make them take it off and start over. Whether it
13:36 be the size of the gauze or the thickness of the space, whatever it is, just to annoy
13:41 them, just to throw them off with their timing and their mental preparation. Here we are
13:46 in round number four with Maloney and Astro Labio. Astro Labio pressing a little more
13:50 here in the early stages of round four. And he's comfortable. Astro Labio is comfortable
13:56 right now. He's having a good time. I think he's tasted the power of Maloney. I don't
14:00 think he's bothered by it. And I think he can have his way or he feels he can have his
14:04 way offensively as he pleases. Not sure if that's the case, but that's how it seems like
14:09 he feels. It's the strength of Astro Labio. It's the fact that he can throw power at any
14:17 moment during a fight. He's physically strong and also mentally strong as well. This is
14:28 where Maloney wants to take advantage of these moments. Don't get caught up in this game
14:32 with Astro Labio. When he doesn't want to punch, Maloney needs to punch just like he
14:36 did because he needs rounds. He needs to pile up the points and he needs to bank these rounds.
14:42 Just landed two right hands working behind that jab. And he needs to do that because
14:47 Astro Labio will have moments and he needs those rounds in the bank. Good movement, good
14:52 jab here in the middle portion of round number four from Jason Maloney. Yeah, but Maloney
14:58 just can't get caught reaching. That's what Astro Labio is looking for. He's looking for
15:03 him to reach and he's looking to fill that hole with a counter. It's either the right
15:13 hand or the left hook. Straight right hand or the left hook. He's looking for the opportunity
15:18 and he's allowing Maloney to get comfortable. Go ahead and hit me. Go ahead and hit me.
15:21 Go ahead and hit me. Just make that one mistake that Tim is talking about. That's all Astro
15:25 Labio wants. Maloney has settled into a nice rhythm here in the back half of round four.
15:29 But I'm telling you, Tess, yes, he's settled into a rhythm, but one punch that he doesn't
15:35 see can hurt him. I was looking forward to be that right uppercut closing moments around
15:41 four. Are you a new AT&T customer looking to upgrade your phone? You're trapped, locked

16:46 recently. The press conference between Devin Haney, the undisputed world champion, and
16:51 Vasily Lomachenko, the three division champion. A week from tonight, they will fight in their
16:56 much anticipated pay per view on ESPN+. You see these guys stand side by side. It's just
17:02 so noticeable. The size difference in the size of Haney. Five and a half inches in reach.
17:08 But only a few inches in height, Jess. That didn't look like a few inches. I'm worried
17:13 about the reach. That's what I'm worried about. Because if you keep Lomachenko on the outside
17:18 and don't allow him to get mid range or to the inside, then you can beat him. You can
17:23 easily out point him. But if he gets in the inside, he's dangerous. Jason Maloney with
17:31 a 51 to 37 connect advantage according to CompuBox to this point. He's out jabbed Astrolavia.
17:38 30 connected jabs to 11. See, this is exactly how Maloney's going to win this fight. He
17:45 just has to out box him. Play it smart. Stay on the outside. Pepper him here and there.
17:51 Pop shot here and there. Don't take a whole lot of chances. Left hook, that counter left
17:58 hook from Astrolavia so quick. He closed the gap quick. That space in between. He loves
18:05 that right uppercut. Doesn't he, Dre? He loves that right uppercut. He sits on it and waits
18:09 for it. I said it may be a straight left or a left hook. It may be a right uppercut or
18:14 a left hook. That's the two punches that he's looking for. See, good fundamental habits
18:19 right there from Maloney. Good technique, keeping his hands high, stepping back out
18:24 of range and making Astrolavia pay. And look, if I'm in there right now and it's world championship
18:31 on the line, I don't care about you fans booing. I'm here to win this match. With stuff like
18:37 that. Yes. Snapping back your opponent's head with a jab. I know I'm the more technical
18:41 fighter. I'm disciplined. My hands are high. I can box. I can do a little bit of everything.
18:47 Every so often you'll see him place that right hand to the body. Sneaky shot. Good shot right
18:54 there from Maloney. Remember what his trainer said, just keep banking rounds with that jab.
19:00 Don't worry about loading up and getting greedy with that right hand. But if it's available,
19:04 you got to take it. It's been available here in round five. There's that right uppercut,
19:10 right? So predictable. You know it's coming. It's coming after the probe jab. He's going
19:16 to do something. I don't understand why Maloney hasn't set him up for a left hook out at range.
19:21 Time it. He's too busy trying to get out of the way. Nice right hand. He caught him that
19:27 time on the lean. Yeah, he caught him right on the lean on his back foot. Poor footwork
19:33 right there from Asher Labio. Bringing his lead foot back with his back foot. Work with
19:42 that walking stick. Just lean on that jab again in round five. Has this happened to

20:44 The NBA playoffs continue on ESPN in ABC. Discussed a while ago with Angelo Hyder, Maloney's
20:52 trend is I wanted to start going down to the body now breaking him down. Brendan Gibbons,
21:00 an assistant in Astro Lobby is corner says, Hey, listen, this is how Astro Lobby of fights.
21:05 He's going to hurt him. He baits him into something and that's that's how it's going
21:09 to go. You know, Astro Lobby is not going to win on points here. No, listen, the styles
21:14 are what they are, but it also makes for a wildly intriguing fight because of it, where
21:19 Maloney could be sitting back having plenty of rounds banked and you still don't know
21:22 what's the outcomes going to be. I don't agree with the instructions from Maloney's corner.
21:27 I don't agree with going down and breaking down and getting inside the pocket and trying
21:32 to dig down to the body. You're going to risk getting hit with an uppercut on the inside.
21:36 You're putting yourself in position to get hit with an uppercut. Keep it simple. Stay
21:42 on the outside, using your jab, keep moving, turning them, wash, rinse and repeat. That's
21:51 it. Nice, subtle move right there from Maloney to get out of, get out of danger and get out
21:55 of that corner and get, take the fight back to the center of the ring. There's a right
21:59 hand that he times the right hand shot right there. And you can see Astro Lobby of tying
22:03 up on the inside for a moment, but that right hand was well timed and it was time because
22:08 he boxed. He never slowed down and he wasn't predictable with the shot. He didn't telegraph
22:12 it. He moved, drew Astro Lobby in and just threw it and landed flush. See Astro Lobby
22:22 has no plan B. He only has plan A. Plan A has always worked, but what happens when you
22:28 get in there with a sweet boxer that can move, use his legs, that can out think you. And
22:33 double jab like that. You're facing a puncher. It's mentally draining and physically draining
22:39 because the punches land and they drain you a lot faster than a guy who doesn't punch
22:43 hard and you can't fall asleep at any given time. But Maloney's fueled by this being his
22:50 third and possibly last opportunity at a world title. Dre, I'm so glad you said that because
22:55 you cannot stress that enough. We had such a long conversation with Maloney yesterday
23:00 about the experience that he gained, why he's a better fighter now, how much this means
23:04 him. He was so close to breaking through and earning a world championship on his first
23:10 go around back in October of 2018. He lost a split decision. Now I understand facing
23:14 in a way is what it is. He's arguably the best pound for pound fighter and the best
23:18 finisher in the entire sport, but he's a better fighter. He's been on a good streak. He has
23:22 significant wins. This is his moment. He said, if I don't win this fight tonight and I never
23:28 win a world title and I retire that way, I'm not going to be happy for the rest of my life.
23:32 I mean, it's a heavy statement, but that's what he said. It would be great, great regret
23:36 that he would carry with him for the rest of his life. Back to the jab here in the closing
23:40 moments of round number six, halfway point to see who will win the vacant WBO Bantamweight
23:46 title. We'll still have the middleweight championship fight set to come. Are you a new AT&T customer

24:48 Red Sox celebrate this Mother's Day on Sunday night baseball. Total punches according CompuBox.
24:59 As you see the efficient work of Jason Maloney, who is outlandish. Astro Lobby of 78 to 55
25:07 round number seven World Championship fight to fill the vacant WBO bantamweight title.
25:13 Jason Maloney sticking with the system. We were listening in to his trainer, Angelo Hyder.
25:18 I don't know that I've ever heard a trainer use the word jab more in one single 60 second
25:23 setting. But in fact, even invoke Larry Holmes at one point saying I want the heavy jab.
25:28 Put the system forth of jabbing double jab body jab jab right to his eyes. It's the constant
25:33 theme just to take us back. Did I just see that the company box said that Astro Lobby
25:37 is thrown more than Maloney? He's thrown more. He's landed fewer punches. I don't believe
25:44 I'm watching this fight. I don't believe that's why. Yeah, that doesn't add up to what I'm
25:48 seeing here. But either way, if you're going to talk about throwing a jab, Larry Holmes
25:53 is the one you want to bring up. One of the best jabs in the history, not heavyweight,
25:58 but the history of boxing. And I'm sure they that's something to switch Maloney on to remind
26:02 him of what they drilled about and the things that they talked about in training camp. Maloney
26:09 can win his fight just with his movement, his footwork and lateral movement and with
26:13 his jab alone. These boos are actually a confirmation that Maloney is doing exactly what he's supposed
26:18 to be doing. He's keeping the puncher, the explosive, exciting guy out of the fight.
26:23 He's building up points. That's not exciting for these fans, but it's getting Maloney closer
26:27 to his dream of winning his first world title. Absolute confirmation that Maloney is in control.
26:32 And keep in mind, you have a packed Stockton arena filled with fans who just watched their
26:37 local favorites win my first round knockout with a sensational punch. Gabriel Flores doing
26:44 that. We'll show you that a little later on. So they are sitting there coming off of this
26:49 monumental moment and then they come out and see a boxing performance. I don't have much
26:53 appetite for this right now. Yeah, but this is the performance that's needed for Maloney
26:59 to win this fight. So I respect it. No doubt about it. He can fight out at distance. He
27:04 can either try to please the fans here tonight and get knocked out, possibly go home to Australia,
27:08 which is a long trip. I know he's got to see his brother next week, but go home empty handed
27:13 or deal with some boos in here and put himself in the best position to go home with some
27:18 new hardware. There's the right hand now coming behind the jab. Very so often Maloney will
27:22 get that going as well. And I know that Ashton Labia believes in his power, but at least
27:28 throw more punches to increase the likelihood that you land the power sitting around and
27:34 waiting for the perfect shot that may never come is not the route to go for Ashton Labia.
27:40 It's a big opportunity for him as well. That's the way he fights. I asked him at the fighter
27:44 meeting. That's what he said. He said, I'll throw more punches. He hasn't done it so far.

28:37 sense that these new Orleans skeletons are more jazzy than scary? No. Does a ghost pepper
28:42 wing that doesn't send you into tears make any sense? Sure does to us. That's why. Welcome
28:47 to the final push. It's playoffs time and whatever happens next. Cardinals Red Sox celebrate
28:54 this Mother's Day on Sunday night baseball. I asked the assistant Brendan Gibbons what
29:01 Astro lobby has been told in the corner and it's down to, hey, how much do you want it?
29:06 To me, I said, that's an admission that the strategy isn't working. He says, yeah, it's
29:11 kind of, it's kind of an even fight, but he's the a side where the B and we know it. I would
29:15 disagree in calling this an even fight. Dre, I think you and I see it exactly the same
29:20 way of six rounds to one Maloney at this point. Yeah, it's not, it's not close to being even.
29:24 You got to give Maloney credit for being busier, being more disciplined and the one that's
29:29 piling up all the points. Mark Kregel's report and assessment of Astro lobby falls right
29:37 in line with your assessment of he's a one dimensional guy. He has one depends on, depends
29:42 on power, power alone. Looks to punch in between. He needs guys to stand in front of them to
29:47 be successful. And Maloney, he just keeps hearing from his corner led by Angelo Hyder
29:53 stick with the system, jab and jab every which way. Now at the end of the last round, there
29:59 was a small cut that appeared above the left eye of Jason Maloney. Veteran quarterman stitch.
30:05 Duran was quick to get to it again. Fundamentals extremely important. You know, fundamentals
30:14 don't change using a stiff jab, you know, having good balance, great defense after you
30:18 punch and also cutting off the ring. Asher lobbyists is following. I should lobby. Oh,
30:24 it's falling, following Maloney around the ring. He's not cutting off the corners. I
30:30 don't think I've seen him once. Hit him in the corner. That's the biggest problem right
30:34 now. Cut off the ring. That's the lobby is also getting frustrated with Maloney. Maloney
30:43 is not sitting there. He's not a stationary target. And here we are in the eighth round
30:47 and he's yet to land the kind of shots that he wants to land. Eighth round, three and
30:52 a half rounds to go. And if he can continue this way, Jason Maloney should be securing
30:59 the world championship that he says he has thought about every single day for the last
31:06 20 years. He's been boxing for 20 years, starting off as an amateur and then a very successful
31:15 pro career that has him now arriving at his third world championship opportunity. And
31:20 he should be proud because he's doing it right now with the, with his jam, with the best
31:25 punch in boxing, being disciplined, the most important punch in boxing, the jam, the short
31:32 left hand from Astrolobio. You got hurt with that shot. Astrolobio comes in with a short
31:39 left hook. Now tries to put the right hand behind the jab and split the guard. Trying
31:45 to pick up the pace here in the closing moments of round number eight. Are you a new AT&T

32:33 The future is threatened by enemies often unseen. Does a ghost pepper wing that doesn't
32:37 send you into tears make any sense? Sure does to us. That's why. BK six dollar Euro way
32:42 deal for a limited time. It's a Royal still. Does a ghost pepper wing that doesn't send
32:47 you into tears make any sense? Sure does to us. That's why. Sunday night baseball. Sundays
32:52 at seven all season long on ESPN. Cardinals Red Sox celebrate this Mother's Day on Sunday
33:00 night baseball. Joe Tim and Dre ringside here at Stockton Arena, Stockton, California. The
33:07 first of our two world title fights tonight here on ESPN. Jason Maloney seemingly in control
33:14 as we start round number nine as he's looking to win a Bantamweight championship against
33:20 Vincent Astrolabe. Then we will see the middleweight world champion Jannebeck Ali Mahan Allah. Second
33:26 defense of his WBO title will come against Steven Butler as he makes his final preparations.
33:32 Still got a long distance to go. Well, around Dre, when you look at the end of the eighth
33:40 round, you understand why there's always hope with Astrolabe. All right, because as Maloney
33:44 heard from his corner, hey, for 22 and a half minutes, you boxed beautifully. You made one
33:48 mistake. You went straight back with your hands down. Yes. Did a good job right there.
33:53 Maloney dipping, tucking and smothering. If you would have stepped back, you would have
33:59 created room for that punch. Astrolabe through. But he stepped inside smothering. Great fundamental
34:09 habits right there. Now we'll love to see more feints from Maloney. He can create offense
34:17 or create openings by using feints. Seen the jab, but. Astrolabe with a thudding right
34:25 hand, came back with the left hook. Maloney was off balance for a moment. Now he presses
34:29 the action, misses with that left hook and Maloney ties up on the inside. That's a good
34:34 tie up. Got to fill that space with the jab, keep Astrolabe off of him as he's done for
34:40 most of this fight. Astrolabe always dangerous. He's the puncher in this matchup. Yeah, but
34:46 he better watch that counter right hand that Maloney's tied several times that has landed
34:51 flush. He better not believe he can't be knocked out by that shot because he can. See what
34:56 I like here is this is experience you see from Maloney. He's coming back with two or
35:01 three combinations after Astrolabe. It spends a ton of energy chasing him with combinations.
35:08 Amy Lomachenko, undisputed lightweight championship next week on ESPN pay-per-view. By the way,
35:14 Andrew Maloney, the brother of Jason Maloney, will fight for the vacant 115 pound world
35:20 title on that undercard. See when your opponent tries to have lows, takes a little breather,
35:31 that's when you start pouring it on and that's what you're seeing from Maloney now. See Astrolabe,
35:45 he throws everything with power so he has to recharge after he gets done attacking.
35:51 And he's often out of position because he's throwing everything home. Ooh, nice counter.
35:57 Has this happened to you? AT&T and Verizon rope you in with phone offers then bind. Has

36:44 No. Does it make sense that these New Orleans skeletons are more jazzy than scary? No. Does
36:51 a ghost pepper wing that doesn't send you into tears make any sense? Sure does to us.
36:55 Give us the baseball at its best. Sunday Night Baseball. The NBA playoffs continue on ESPN
37:04 and ABC. Two men so determined to walk away from this event as a world champion. Vincent
37:14 Astrolabio seemingly behind on the scorecards. He has the power to accomplish it. For Jason
37:19 Maloney, just stay the course. Keep the game plan going. Angelo Heider, his long time trainer,
37:26 gave him those instructions saying you don't have to prove anything. Don't take undue risk.
37:33 This is strategic boxing right here from Maloney. Smart boxing. I respect, though I don't agree
37:42 with the game plan of Astrolabio. If he believes his power is going to bail him out. But again,
37:47 you put yourself in a better position, you increase the likelihood of landing that power
37:52 by throwing more punches. Just not throwing enough in this fight. Beautiful jab right
38:00 there. That controls the pace of the fight. It's the longest weapon you have inside that
38:07 ring. And it shows the experience of Jason Maloney and the discipline. Mark Creagle.
38:13 And only Neri told Vincent Astrolabio in the last between rounds said, you are down. These
38:21 are the championship rounds. You need a knockout. That's an accurate assessment from his trainer
38:27 who was a long time part of Manny Pacquiao's career for years. And I'm going to tell you
38:36 right now, it's not over until that last bell ring. That is the beauty about boxing. Always
38:47 have a chance. Keep an eye out for that right hand that Maloney keeps timing on the chin
38:55 of Astrolabio that he has not made an adjustment for. Dre, it almost seems like he's going
39:00 to catch Astrolabio when he's throwing the uppercut and he's going to drop that lead
39:04 hand and get caught right in between that sequence with the right hand.
39:09 Just like Astrolabio is trying to time Maloney, Maloney is trying to also time Astrolabio.
39:14 With the right hand right there. Nice right hand. He knew he was going to be off balance,
39:22 not a position, then he tucks in and smothers Astrolabio. Again, good fundamental, good
39:29 technique from Maloney. Good tactics.
39:42 Mentioned earlier, you hear the reaction from this crowd, this packed crowd at the Stockton
39:46 Arena as Maloney's put on a boxing clinic and they've been frustrated with Astrolabio's
39:52 inability to deliver his power. And we felt that's because it's on the heels of seeing
39:58 so much power and so much that they had to cheer about with what happened just before
40:03 this fight when they saw their local fan favorite prospect, Gabriel Flores, the 23-year-old,
40:11 with a sensational one punch knockout. And that is our Punch of the Night brought to
40:16 you by AutoZone. Gabriel Flores Jr. against Derrick Murray. Timmy.
40:21 Left hook. Last time he was here, he did the same exact thing to his opponent. Beautiful
40:26 check left hook. He's known for this shot right here. He catches one of his own, graze
40:30 and blow, but he has landed right on the money. Dropping and knocking out.
40:37 This is a young man who's had some obstacles recently with some losses, who had a long
40:43 layoff. This had to mean the world to him. Yeah, it was a great, great way to bounce
40:46 back. You're at home and got everybody excited, but he needs rounds. The rounds and getting
40:53 sharp and getting comfortable under fire is what's going to get him to the place he needs
40:57 to be. So make a quick turnaround. Get right back in there.
41:00 All right, here we go. Championship rounds. Vacant WBO Bantamweight title on the line.
41:06 Jason Maloney has followed the script to put himself in position. Six minutes ago, said
41:12 I've been boxing for 20 years, chasing one dream to be a world champion. Six minutes
41:18 away if he could stay the course against Vincent Astrolabeo.
41:23 You got six minutes to be perfect. Test to be perfect and don't make any mistakes.
41:32 And test he can live the rest of his life as a champion. He said if he doesn't claim
41:41 it tonight, he'll live the rest of his life with great regret. Third time he is knocked
41:46 on the door to become a titleist twin brother of Andrew Maloney, who will fight for a world
41:52 championship next week on the pay-per-view card top by Haney and Loma Chanko.
42:01 I don't know why Astrolabeo is now fighting with a sense of urgency. He should be. He
42:05 heard it from his corner. He doesn't know if he's gonna get another opportunity at a
42:08 world title. It's not just a fight. But see, a nice tie up again. Good tactical
42:16 work right there from Maloney. Stopping the action. Not allowing any forward momentum.
42:23 It's not gonna be an average shot that gets Maloney if a shot lands at all. His mind is
42:28 made up. It's gonna have to be a perfect shot, timed just right, that puts his lights out.
42:34 His mind is made up that he's not gonna be denied tonight. So that will enable you to
42:43 take a shot that maybe previously you wouldn't have because your mind is made up. You don't
42:48 talk enough about how important your mind is in a sport like this.
43:12 First time you see Astrolabeo punching where Maloney was moving as opposed to punching
43:19 where he was last seen.
43:34 Astrolabeo charges Maloney to the center of the ring. That's been the story of the fight.
43:44 Astrolabeo hasn't done anything different and Maloney shouldn't do anything different.
43:49 Nor has he been forced to. That's the hard charge. That's the ole. Back to the center
43:58 of the ring.
43:59 And back to the jab. Controls range, boxes, lateral movement. And now he will return to
44:12 his trainer, Angel Heider, for his final instructions before three more minutes to claim something
44:19 special.
44:20 No power needed. Boxing clinic. But what I need you to do mate is keep those angles
44:32 going. Because if he's desperate, you just need to put your head nice and low, hang on
44:41 to him, walk him back to the ropes. When you get your hand out, club him. Club him if you
44:46 can, okay? If he's swinging, just go in and bump him back. Those body shots were nice
44:51 at the start of the throw. But let's make sure we're first. Every time you're first,
44:58 he can't get his line going to jump in on you. Keep turning the angle. Now breathe deep.
45:03 Stand up now. Stand up now. Breathe deep. Breathe deep. Box smart son. Box real smart.
45:10 Box smart son. Box real smart. The final instructions for Jason Maloney as Angel Heider.
45:16 Heider sends him out three minutes away from accomplishing everything he has set course
45:24 to starting 20 years ago when he first walked into a boxing gym. Can he become a world champion?
45:31 Astro Labio has yet to deliver on the power that he possesses. Maloney has boxed brilliantly.
45:38 He stays on his feet for the next three minutes. He's a champion for the rest of his life.
45:49 Four belts on the line next week in the pay-per-view. Haney, the undisputed lightweight champion
45:54 against Loma Chanko, the future Hall of Famer, the three-division world champion. What I'm
46:01 looking for is Astro Labio to have a say in the matter. Two minutes left. See, in times
46:27 like moments like this, you don't have to take a whole lot of risks. When you know you're
46:29 ahead on the scorecard like that, no necessary risks. You take what he gives you. Uppercut
46:37 nearly landed from Astro Labio and smartly Maloney smothered, tied up, and walked him
46:42 back to the ropes. Just missed. Just missed. This thing's going to be interesting right
46:47 to the wire if Astro Labio is sending punches like that. He's on the attack finally. Being
46:53 a cage league will make him pay just to get some respect. Bing, bing. See those counters
46:57 right there? Those are countering opportunities. I know it's late in the fight, but he can
47:01 still do it. Ooh. Maloney needs to survive for just over a minute. Astro Labio needs
47:13 to hit that lottery ticket. >> Don't do that. Hey, don't do that. Hey,
47:34 don't do that. >> 40 seconds, Dre.
47:44 >> Said to us yesterday, I know I'm good enough. I know I'm a world champion. Feels he's a
47:50 much more complete fighter now than he's ever been. And he looked like it tonight. And also
47:55 a disciplined fighter. >> Disciplined.
47:59 >> Astro Labio's got at least one or two more uppercuts left in him before the final bell
48:04 rings. >> Ten seconds. Good defense right there. Yeah, they can boo all they want. You're a
48:26 champion, young man. You are a champion. >> As he hugs his twin brother.
48:37 >> Great tactical and technical boxing right there to win this championship.
48:44 >> That whole corner did a wonderful job. As Vincent Astro Labio realized he heard from
48:51 his trainer that he had to have the knockout. Went for it as best he could in 12th. But
48:58 the game plan put forth by that 32-year-old Australian, Jason Maloney, will likely earn
49:05 him a world championship. >> Look, this is smart boxing right here.
49:09 Everything off the fundamental, what the jab. That's what it's all about. Controlling the
49:14 pace of the fight. Keeping Astro Labio off balance. Using his jab. Straight right hands
49:20 occasionally. Great execution. This was strategy. This was tactical work right here. Beautiful,
49:28 brilliant work by Maloney. Good lateral movements. Not standing directly in front of the puncher.
49:34 Great defensive responsibility after. Excellent discipline by keeping his hands at home. This
49:40 was a shutout performance for, I believe, Jason Maloney. No doubt in my mind he won
49:45 this fight. I don't see how the judges can take it from him. There was a clear winner
49:49 here and that is Jason Maloney. >> Man, 93 jabs. Was steady with that lead
49:56 hand. Stuck to the game plan put forth by Angelo Heider. Says this means everything
50:03 to me. A feeling the two of you know so well what it means to forever be a world champion.
50:12 >> The division where the traffic was recently cleared when Naoya Inouye vacated his undisputed
50:21 status to move up to 122 pounds. He'll be taking on unified champion Stephen Fulton
50:28 in an incredibly attractive July 25th fight on ESPN+.
50:38 >> This may not have been an entertaining rock 'em, sock 'em robot type of fight. These
50:46 are the types of fights I respect when fighters can go in there and execute a game plan flawlessly.
50:53 Like we saw with Jason Maloney. These are fights where you just have to win these fights.
50:59 That's it. Just win these types of fights. >> Let's hear how the judges saw it.
51:07 >> Ladies and gentlemen, after 12 rounds here inside the Stockton arena, we go to the judges
51:13 score cards for the official decision. Tom Carasone scores the bout 114-114. Robert Hoyle
51:24 scores the bout 115-113. Zachary Young scores the bout 116-112. For your winner by majority
51:36 decision and now the WBO bantamweight champion of the world.
51:44 >> From the land down under, Jason Mayhem Maloney. >> Jason Maloney is the world champion.
51:54 The bottom line. But majority decision with a 114-114 card is an oddity based on what
52:00 we just saw. But don't let that take away from the moment that a world championship
52:05 belt is now draped over the shoulder of Jason Maloney. His third attempt at a world title
52:17 and he was consistent and disciplined and the best.
