Un an après son premier succès sur les routes du Tour d'Italie, Santiago Buitrago a remis ça sur l'édition 2023 en s'offrant la 19e étape au sommet des Tre Cime di Lavaredo ! Le Colombien de la Bahrain Victorious s'est montré le plus fort d'une échappée composée initialement de quinze coureurs. Déjà trois fois deuxième sur ce Giro, le Canadien Derek Gee (Israel-Premier Tech) a encore pris la deuxième place ce vendredi (+ 51"), tandis que Magnus Cort Nielsen (EF Education-EasyPost) a complété le podium (+ 1'46"). Dans la bataille pour le classement général, Joao Almeida (UAE Team Emirates) a de nouveau été dominé par Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) et Geraint Thomas (INEOS Grenadiers), le Portugais ayant concédé 20 secondes à ses deux rivaux.
