00:00 Hi, my name is Jennifer Scully, for those who don't know me.
00:06 I am the president of Mrs. Claws for a Cause.
00:11 We're a pretty new charity, it's a grassroots effort and what we're doing is pretty tremendous.
00:18 So we're working with Harlem Daling, which is New York's oldest orphanage.
00:23 Of course they don't operate as an orphanage anymore, but they do take care of orphan children,
00:29 homeless children, and children in foster care and at-risk youth through after-school
00:36 programs, psychological services, they have a food pantry.
00:41 And what a wonderful thing to add to the children, and that is to give them a gift for Christmas
00:50 that they actually want.
00:52 Most of these children will not get anything or get anything that they want unless we give
00:58 it to them.
00:59 So this is an important thing.
01:02 We're different than Toys for Tots, and I'm not saying better, and I think it's a wonderful
01:08 cause, but we're different because we're not just giving them a toy, we're giving them
01:12 a toy that they ask for, we're fulfilling a wish.
01:16 And the reason why this is important is because it instills in the children a sense that someone
01:22 is out there listening to them, someone cares about them, someone wants to satisfy their
01:29 needs, someone wants to nurture and love that child.
01:32 And a lot of these children don't feel that.
01:35 They're not in healthy environments, and they do not feel cared for on certain levels.
01:44 So what we're doing is tremendously important.
01:47 It's not about Barbies or remote control trucks, it's about magic, it's about wishes coming
01:54 true, dreams coming true, it's about instilling hope in these children that someone really
02:02 is out there and wants to help them.
02:05 So thank you all so much for your generous donations.
02:10 They're adding up quickly.
02:12 We need a lot more, and quite frankly, I'm a little nervous.
02:17 I have over 300 letters that are still unanswered, wishes that are yet to be fulfilled, and I
02:28 need you to share.
02:30 I need you to repost.
02:31 I need you to beg and plead, like I'm begging and pleading.
02:35 Ask your neighbor, your friend, your mother, your teacher, your coworkers, your boss, your
02:40 garbage man, your supermarket checkout clerk, whomever you can ask, to see if they'd like
02:46 to get involved in helping make a child's Christmas wish come true.
02:52 So thank you again, and we continue on.
02:55 No child gets left behind.
02:57 I am not going to that Christmas party with one present short.
03:01 I'm not.
03:02 I'm not doing it.
03:03 It's not happening.
03:04 Failure is not an option.
03:06 Together we will get this done.
03:09 Thank you again.
