Six ACT nature reserves are to be closed every day except Fridays so more than a thousand kangaroos can be shot in order to maintain the landscape for other animals.
The annual cull is due to start on Monday, June 12, and continue until the end of July.
Ecologists calculate that 1042 kangaroos will need to be shot to keep the grass at the right level so a wide variety of animals can thrive.
