00:00 So this is my Jade Sprite tutorial. I started off with NYX's pore filler. You
00:05 can use any other type of primer, but I prefer this one because it's a lot
00:10 smoother on my skin and I have a lot of acne actually, and it's really good for
00:17 acne. And yes, just apply it anywhere you will be using your makeup.
00:25 And then you take your face paint. I use white Snazzy Rue for pictures and
00:41 videos because it looks good and it's less trouble to take on and put on. Take
00:48 off and put on. Oh my gosh. And you just, oh my god, you just put it everywhere and
00:55 yeah, you, it requires quite a few layers actually because it looks full on camera
01:04 but it's not. You need at least five layers of white paint, maybe three, three
01:10 to five layers is good. When you can't see your natural skin tone anymore and
01:15 doesn't look streaky, that's when you know you're done.

02:24 When you have a few layers on, you should apply it lighter than you did before
02:31 because if you do it too hard, you will pull off the paint that you already had
02:35 set on. And it takes a lot of practice actually for a white paint because it
02:43 does catch off on the sponge easily. You can use it with, you can use a
02:52 foundation brush but it comes out streaky and you need a certain technique
03:00 and also it depends on your skin.
03:10 Because your nostrils are directly above your upper lip, when you breathe, your hot
03:16 breath will get on your upper lip and it'll make your makeup actually become
03:22 wet and it looks like you have a mustache. So that's inevitable. If
03:29 somebody knows a way to fix that, please let me know because that's honestly very
03:33 annoying. It looks gross. That happens so much with my jade sprite, it's crazy.
03:40 You will, your makeup will definitely crack around your lips and eye area
03:49 before anywhere else because your lips require you to talk and smile and yeah
03:57 and your eyes, well you blink and blinking is inevitable. You can't just not blink.
04:02 So I recommend using maybe a little bit of grease paint on your lower eye area.
04:12 With your eyelid it's easy to cover that with just keeping your eyes open but
04:17 with your lower eye area that it's gonna look cracked and not nice. And with your
04:24 mouth there's, I don't know what to do about the mouth. Maybe apply grease paint
04:29 and put some eyeshadow on a grease paint, put some pigment. I don't know. So when
04:34 you're done with that just let it dry a little bit and then take your setting
04:38 powder. I use baby powder for white snazaroo.
04:43 So put it everywhere heavily so it doesn't come off fast. It won't be
04:53 nice if it comes off. Always seal your paint no matter where you paint. Always
04:57 seal because you do not want to get paint on anything or anyone or on your
05:02 clothes and it's just irritating. So make sure to seal your paint very well.
05:10 [music]
05:32 Next you take light green eyeshadow and you put it on your upper eyelid. It's
05:38 best to start light just like anything else. It's best to start with a little
05:43 bit and then add more when if you see if it's necessary. I take a darker green and
05:53 I put it on the outer corners and blend it in with the inner just like my Kanaya
05:56 cosplay. I like the way it looks. And I take a darker green and I put it on my
06:04 nose to do the cute little dog nose thing. And I blend it in a little into
06:10 the whites on the areas where it connects because it looks smoother that
06:15 way. And I put more green on the inner corners like in the inner area of my
06:25 mouth to do the cute little doll-like look but with the green and white
06:31 coloring instead of skin tone and pink. And I put some on the lower corner of my
06:38 eyes for the makeup I'm going to be doing soon. It will make my eyes look
06:43 bigger actually. It takes a lot of practice to do free-handed eyebrows so
06:50 in the meantime you can use eyebrow stencils. They're very cheap and they're
06:56 plastic. I used those initially but now I just do it freehand. Try to make your
07:02 eyebrows as similarly lined and looking as possible. Start thin instead of going
07:09 thick so if there's a mistake you can go a little bit thicker but you don't want
07:13 it to be super super thick. Unless that's a look you're going for then go ahead.
07:25 Next I take a blush brush and I put a little bit of green on it and I put it
07:30 on my cheeks. I put it on the outer area of my eye above my cheek. It gives it a
07:38 more cute blushy look. It's not natural, definitely not natural, but I like the
07:43 way it looks so yeah. I blend it out a lot. You don't want you don't want it to
07:52 just be stark green just out of nowhere like a Raggedy Ann doll's blush where
07:59 it's just a circle of red. I tried contouring my nose with gray and it did
08:07 not look good at all. It really didn't. So if you have a mistake just take a small
08:17 brush put some snooze-a-roo on it and cover it.
08:24 A lot of my nose actually cracked by this point so I just fixed it.
08:33 Also messed up on my cheek, whoops.
08:47 Next is your eyeliner. I use this gel pen type of eyeliner. It's really good, I like it.
08:57 You can do whatever type of eyeliner you like. I just like doing it this way for
09:15 Jade Sprite because of the type of eyelashes I will be using, but you can do
09:20 any type of eyeliner. There's actually a lot of different types of eyeliner shapes.
09:28 Also you should practice before you start doing makeup like this because if you mess up there's it's
09:58 gonna be really hard to get back to where you were already at with all the
10:01 white already there. This is the type of thing where you're just under a lot of
10:06 pressure to do. I was trying not to mess up because I'm being recorded. Next are
10:11 your eyelashes. These eyelashes are very long and to add more to them I put a
10:17 little bit of, I cut off normal eyelash and I glued it to the end of these to
10:23 make the eyes pop out more. So you apply your glue and I put more on the inner
10:30 and outer corner so it, because those are the parts that usually stick out, and you
10:35 put them in place. I put mine sticking upwards so my eyes pop and look really
10:41 really big. And I also have them pointing a little bit downwards at the bottom so
10:47 it looks like a droopy puppy-eyed dog look.
10:52 Next is your other eyelash. You don't have to use eyelashes, it's a preferred
11:05 choice. Also before you put on your eyelashes let them glue, let them dry for
11:11 20 to 30 seconds because if the glue doesn't dry it you have to hold it there
11:16 forever and that's really annoying so it's best to just fan it a little bit
11:20 for 20 to 30 seconds until it gets tacky. And you adjust them and let them dry a
11:29 little bit until they no longer feel like really wet on your eyes. Next is
11:37 mascara and I coat it a lot so my eyes look really big and they blend in with
11:45 the eyelashes. And I also had some white paint from my Snazaroo still on my
11:50 eyelashes so I really don't want that to just stick out, I want it to blend. I put
11:57 a little bit on the under outer quarters of my eye so my eyes look big.
12:03 Then I take some MAC eyeshadow and a small brush and I fill in the black so
12:10 there's no white spots.
12:13 And then near the end you just put on your wig. I got this wig on Amazon, it was
12:27 not expensive, it's actually a very good wig for its price. And you style it into
12:33 the hairstyle you want and right when I got to the style of it I remembered that
12:40 I forgot my furry boa. Jade Sprite has a little tuft of fur on her chest and I
12:47 forgot and I didn't want to do that so I just got a furry boa and I wrap it
12:51 around my neck. And then styled my wig again because I was a goof and I messed
13:00 up.
13:06 And then the ears. The way I clip these in is that I go through the wig,
13:11 through the wig cap, straight to my actual hair and it hurts a lot but it is
13:16 not going to move.
13:19 And I made these gloves. They're opera gloves so they go really high up my arms
13:32 because I am NOT painting my arms for nobody. And I put on some furry little
13:38 tufts around the wrists and made my own nails. And I'm looking for my glasses.
13:47 There are my glasses. Okay so these are the glasses and Jade Sprite is done. This
13:55 was actually a very lot, this was a lot of fun to do. I've never actually
13:58 recorded my voice for a tutorial so this is my Jade Sprite tutorial. Thank you
14:04 so much for everybody who compliments it. I'm really proud of this. This is
14:07 probably my first big cosplay. Thank you so very much.
14:14 Okay that was my Jade Sprite cosplay makeup progress tutorial thing. I'm going
14:27 to put in a verbal thing to talk about this. Okay so for white makeup I used
14:33 white Snazaroo but this is only for like pictures and videos. I don't recommend
14:38 using this for conventions because the first time I was Jade Sprite I did that
14:42 and I cracked and I looked horrifying. I was honestly scared of myself. Don't,
14:48 don't, don't do that. That's a bad idea. Don't use Snazaroo. I used this
14:55 for my last convention. It's Mehron, Meron, Meron? Me-ron? It's this. It's clown
15:04 white and it is grease based so it's like, it's, it feels disgusting. You feel
15:12 like you got oil or tar on your face and you don't want that because it feels
15:16 really bad and you just like kill me now. But that's what this is. I use this sponge
15:23 to apply it and I, there's a very different method that I use for applying
15:27 this to that. That's why I made this other video. But um, okay so I used for
15:36 this like um, what's it called? Wait where is it?
15:44 Well I can't find it but I used a foundation brush to apply this also like
15:54 as a lay down and then for my next layer I used this sponge that I took from my
15:59 mom's makeup and then um yeah you just, I just dabbed that on and it did come out
16:06 in patches. This did not come out in patches but it always does come out in
16:10 patches. Like if you put on, if you just keep patting it's gonna come off instead
16:14 of putting on and you're just gonna cry because then you don't know what to do
16:18 and when you try and put more it just more comes off and you're just like do I
16:23 go? Do I even go? Do I, do I, should I go through with this? But um, I also used a
16:29 different thing for setting it in. And I poured some, oh there it is. Okay I used this. This is
16:40 godsend honestly for grease makeup like for snazzy you could just use baby
16:46 powder it still works the same but this, this is NYX's finishing powder and it is
16:53 white. It's in white. Thank God. But um you apply it heavily with a sponge similar to
17:01 this and so you put on this then you just, there is no such thing as too much
17:08 with this because this will save your life because otherwise your grease paint
17:13 will attach to your wig and that happened to me and it was terrible
17:17 honestly so it was like that and I would peel it off and it feels like you're,
17:24 white makeup is hell honestly. White makeup is hell. You don't, fucking hell.
17:31 You don't want it. You don't, no. No. No. No. White makeup is terrible for
17:38 conventions. I do not recommend it for conventions. Pictures, yeah. Photo shoots,
17:42 totally. Conventions, if you really want to do it, go ahead but do your funeral
17:49 because it's, I went twice to a convention recently and I was Jade
17:57 Sprite and Rainbow Drinker Kanaya so that was terrible because, especially
18:04 Rainbow Drinker Kanaya, halfway through the day I just removed it but you can
18:08 also layer on Snazaroo first and then you put this over or you do it the other
18:13 way around that still works but you still gotta apply NYX's beautiful
18:18 setting powder heavily because it's beautiful and perfect and it makes, oh shit
18:26 okay. Also what I usually use is the matte finish from NYX. I love NYX. What you
18:33 use from this is that you just spray it on. I forgot to do that but also this is
18:37 just for a video, picture, yeah. So yeah, you know, yeah. And then um, and you just,
18:46 everywhere, all over the place, everywhere you're applying it. So that's, yeah,
18:53 Jade Sprite. That's basically it for the white makeup thing. It does, it cracks
19:03 like crazy. White makeup is probably the only type of makeup that I know of that
19:07 cracks as badly as it does. It's, okay that's my dog, it's, it's pretty, you don't
19:16 want to deal with cracking white makeup because you're gonna scare people and
19:21 you're gonna look like that clown from American Horror Story. You don't want to
19:28 look like that clown from American Horror Story. You don't want to look
19:33 scary. I look scary the first half of this tutorial. I did glue down my
19:39 eyebrows first because doing that on video was gonna take at least 30 minutes
19:43 and I have a video tutorial thing about gluing down eyebrows. I've gotten better
19:50 at it since that video. I applied it a lot more. But um, yeah, you just put it on
19:58 heavily. You put on, there's also not such, no such thing as too many layers of glue
20:05 on your eyebrows when it comes to eyebrows because you don't want your hair
20:11 to go through it. I did that the first time. I didn't know when was enough and
20:18 yeah that was not nice because you could see my hair through it and I was like oh
20:23 god that's not what I wanted. So um, eyebrows are very hard, okay. Don't be
20:29 too hard on yourself the first or second or fifth time that you're doing it
20:33 because it's, it takes a lot of getting used to because you don't really know a
20:38 good method. You got to get used to the feel of pushing your eyebrows into your
20:43 face with glue and baby powder. You could even use this and if you're doing a
20:49 skin tone you can use skin tone powder and then just cover it in foundation or
20:53 concealer. I mostly do trolls and not healthy skin colors.
