00:00 We are now 40 kilometers to the right and we are on top of my favorite climb
00:05 maybe in the whole world on the top of La Redoute.
00:08 Good memories here already two attacks for the victories of the Esch.
00:12 Let's continue!
00:14 [Music]
00:39 It is the first year that we have a women's team and then do a piece of reconnaissance for such a big race
00:44 is special in itself.
00:46 For us and for them it is nice to socialize and collaborate the two teams.
00:51 It will be a nice part of the reconnaissance.
00:54 [Music]
01:17 [Applause]
01:21 [Music]
01:25 The race in Liège was pretty special last year.
01:28 I think I came there without too many expectations
01:31 but in the end we were quite focused to try and win the race.
01:35 In the end we had a big plan and we executed the plan perfectly.
01:40 For sure there was the nasty crash in the bunch which took out two of our strongest riders
01:45 which wasn't an ideal situation for us
01:48 but in the end we handled this stress moment pretty well
01:52 and kept focusing on the goal and on the plan.
01:55 I think for myself it was not my first big victory but maybe the biggest victory back then.
02:02 It was like a new step or a new achievement in my career.
02:07 It is a moment that I will never forget.
02:10 After this beautiful victory in Liège I took a lot of self-confidence.
02:15 I had a feeling that I became stronger as an athlete but also mentally in the head.
02:22 Less moments that went up and down so more stable performances from my side.
02:29 I think that day made a switch in my head but also in my body as a rider.
02:35 [French race commentary]
02:39 Riding in the rainbow in my first Monument victory.
02:45 One of my favourite races in the whole season with number one on my second home road.
02:54 I know the roads very well and I train often there.
02:57 I am actually really excited already to start the race on Sunday.
03:02 Who will attack first between you and Tadej?
03:05 You will see tomorrow.
03:07 [French race commentary]
03:15 One of the best races of the year for me.
03:18 And with a champion like Remco I am really ready to win.
03:21 I will adapt to how I feel during the race.
03:24 But of course I want to give my best for the team and to help Remco.
03:28 I think we have some cards to play for Sunday and we will give our best.
03:33 I have a lot of personal responsibility with this race.
03:37 I will do everything to win it and to be as important as possible.
03:42 Vluyckens is one of the two Monuments in Belgium.
03:44 It is a special day for me.
03:46 The last race of the season was also a special day for me.
04:02 I have already said it a lot but I think my teammates are often more important
04:06 than all the work that I do myself to get into a race.
04:09 The victory is always the most in the spotlight.
04:13 But I think all the work that the teammates do behind or before the final
04:17 is maybe even more important than the final itself.
04:20 Here he goes. The strike happens. He played a little bit.
04:24 Pidcock immediately goes with the acceleration.
04:27 But the gap starts to go. The head of Pidcock drops.
04:31 Evenepoel strikes. He is going away.
04:34 It is one meter. It is two meters.
04:37 And now the finish line.
04:39 It is a very close race.
04:41 I think we are going to win.
04:43 I think we are going to win.
04:45 I think we are going to win.
04:47 It is one meter. It is two meters.
04:50 And now Evenepoel puts in the hammer blow and starts to ride away.
04:55 Tom Pidcock was just about holding on to Evenepoel's wheel after La Redoute
05:00 but he was unable to give the Belgian a turn
05:02 and said goodbye on a short rise a few kilometers later.
05:06 The next day.
05:08 Nice guys. Enjoy it.
05:31 Enjoy it. It is nothing like being a world champion.
05:34 Let's win this way.
05:36 Hats off. Hats off. Hats off.
05:38 48 seconds on the line.
05:50 Again.
05:52 I am going to win.
05:54 I am going to win.
05:56 I am going to win.
05:58 48 seconds on the line.
06:00 Again.
06:02 Remco Evenepoel conducts his own celebration.
06:06 The world champion wearing number one.
06:09 He joins the greats of Belgium.
06:12 He joins Eddy Merckx as a back to back victor of Liege.
06:16 Bastogne-Liege.
06:18 He puts his fingers up.
06:20 It is two wins in Liege.
06:22 Bastogne-Liege.
06:24 He is ready for the Giro d'Italia.
06:26 Remco Evenepoel wins.
06:28 The photo.
06:30 We want the photo.
06:32 Fantastic.
06:46 Great.
06:50 The outfit.
06:52 Congratulations.
06:54 The team work we did today.
07:02 It was the plan to do it this way.
07:06 We are very proud of what we did today.
07:11 It is a morale boost for what is to come in two weeks.
07:18 The weather was not easy at the end.
07:22 Slippery roads and the white lines.
07:25 They are always dangerous.
07:27 But in the end it is all good.
07:29 We can enjoy the last 300-400 meters.
07:33 I think we did a good job.
07:36 We started well.
07:38 We started calm at the end of the week.
07:41 We are on the right track.
07:44 We will add some good training.
07:48 This is an extra mental break I can take with me.
07:55 I will enjoy it.
07:58 I am Ilan Bartoli.
08:00 I will put my helmet on.
08:02 Thank you.
08:03 First of all, two more guys.
08:06 But these guys, I think everybody saw what they did today.
08:09 It was pretty special.
08:11 From the start to La Redoute with Ilan.
08:17 Two guys who had a bad memory of last year.
08:20 I think it is a big "chapeau" for them.
08:22 Because without these bad memories it is not easy.
08:25 I can also speak from my experience in Bombardier.
08:28 It is not easy to come back to a race where you have a big crash.
08:31 So "chapeau" guys.
08:32 Thank you very much for this big effort.
08:35 We had a big plan.
08:36 Not an easy plan.
08:37 Going on La Redoute in the wet.
08:39 Almost went wrong.
08:41 With a small slipper.
08:44 But luckily Ilan was still there to push me.
08:47 I think it is a victory thanks to you guys.
08:53 And also everybody that works here as usual.
08:56 Also as a small piece of...
08:58 A big piece of course.
09:00 In the victory.
09:01 Thank you everybody.
09:02 Let's keep going.
09:03 Like last year.
09:07 I always do.
09:09 The world ain't no suns and rainbows.
09:11 It is a very mean and nasty place.
09:13 Don't get a tough one.
09:15 It will beat you to your knees if you let it.
09:18 Nobody can hit as hard as I.
09:21 But even if it is hard to hit, it is about how you can get it.
09:24 And keep moving forward.
09:26 As much as you can take.
09:28 And keep moving forward.
09:29 And this is how winning is done.
09:31 Well done!
09:32 Well done!
09:34 To be continued...
09:38 To be continued...
09:42 To be continued...
