Alpine has a long history of competition in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including the overall win in 1978, and the company is gearing up to unveil a new LMDh Hypercar entry at this year's event. The Alpine A110 R Le Mans model is now launching as a tribute to the brand's past and future rivalry in world-renowned endurance racing. It is limited to 100 pieces and costs the equivalent of $150,000 (140,000 Euros). Alpine starts taking orders for them on June 8.
The A110 R is the starting point for this special edition, which retains the model's carbon fiber hood, roof, bonnet, rear wing and wheels. This version gains what Alpine calls a Road & Track mount that lowers and stiffens the car by five percent. There are also revisions to the suspension setup compared to the standard model.
Aesthetic tweaks on the Le Mans version include a white body with blue accents, including the double stripe running across the body. There are matching end caps on the wing and tubes on the wheels. The rear tailgate gains a more prominent middle fin, which Alpine says is a nod to the A480 race car. Le Mans emblems appear on the front aprons, side sills and headrests. There is a laser engraving of the track line on the sun visor. A plaque indicates that this car is one of the 100.
Those who buy the A110 R Le Mans edition get a few additional benefits. They will gain access to Alpine Elf Endurance Team facilities in 2024. In addition, these people will be able to take a lap at Le Mans the morning before the start of the race.
The Le Mans edition follows the A110 R Fernando Alonso, which is equivalent to a high price of $159.00 (EUR 148,000) in France, while the standard R is valued at $ 113,000 (105,000 Euros). It is offered in a limited edition of 32, which is the number of races the former F1 driver has won.
This special edition only comes in matte blue and features Alonso's signature on the rear quarter glass. The sun visor features the racer's motto: "There is more than one way to the top of the mountain."
The A110 R, including these special models, has a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower and 250 pound-feet. Extensive use of carbon fiber reduces weight by up to 2,385 pounds, which is 75 pounds less than other variants. This setup gets the car to 62 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 177 mph.
