00:00 Hey guys, it's Evan, welcome back to my channel. Today's video is going to be a first impression on the new Nars foundation, the All Day Luminous foundation.
00:08 So I got a sample last time I went to Sephora because I wanted to test out the formula because I have extremely dry skin and I've heard that this doesn't suit dry skin.
00:17 But I was really curious because it's supposed to have better coverage than the Sheer Glow foundation and I wanted to test out if the colors were the same because during the summer in the Sheer Glow I would probably be Santa Fe.
00:29 So that's what I got. I wasn't sure at first it was going to match me but it actually did.
00:34 So I'm just going to start by addressing the elephant in the room. This foundation is not going to match me, that's like 100% sure.
00:41 Because I didn't self-dye, I will apply a little bit of bronzer to try and make it work.
00:46 I got my summer colors just because I wanted to compare the color between the two foundations, between this one and the Sheer Glow.
00:54 And I wanted to compare it with the shades I usually use during summer but it's really not summer.
00:59 Yay, it's going to be too dark. So now that it's out there, let's do this.
01:04 So I got a quite generous sample but I don't know how many times this is going to last me.
01:08 I'm going to apply it with my usual sponge. This is the Real Technique one and it's wet.
01:13 So I'm just going to apply it all over my face and we'll see how it goes.
01:17 Actually I'm going to try half my face to see coverage.
01:20 I've heard that it's really good coverage but I have dry skin and I did apply some moisturizer.
01:27 I didn't prime anything but I applied a lot of moisturizer so we'll see if it works or not for dry skin because that's the goal of this video.
01:36 Okay, the color is not as bad as I thought it would be. I was like expecting...
01:43 Well actually, I say that but it's not a perfect match right now but for summer I don't think it would be that bad.
01:50 I like that they say that it's a cool tone foundation but it's so hard to find one that isn't really yellow or orange.
01:59 Obviously if I was 10 I would probably think it's a lot better than it is right now but...
02:08 Oh well. It's always weird to just look at myself right now with half my face done.
02:13 Slight difference in skin tone, you know?
02:16 First impression, actually it looks really nice right now. It doesn't emphasize any fine line or any dry patches
02:22 which is probably what's going to happen during the day because it's not necessarily meant for dry skin.
02:26 But a lot of people wanted to see my first impression on it so I'm going to apply a bit half.
02:29 I don't think I would need a second layer. It covers really well.
02:32 Not that I had a lot to cover but any redness was covered so it looks really even right now.
02:39 You really don't need a lot which is really nice.
02:46 Good coverage and it doesn't look cakey whatsoever.
02:50 It looks fairly natural even though the colour obviously is not super natural at first on me.
02:55 The finish is like satin. It's not glowy like a sheer glow but it gives you a natural skin finish like a satin finish.
03:04 Which I really enjoy.
03:06 So for the colour I'm actually surprised. With a little bit of bronzer I can get away with that.
03:10 Hopefully it doesn't oxidize on me otherwise I'm screwed.
03:13 First impression, I'm really impressed. I was expecting it to be really dry on my skin because like I said I have dry skin.
03:18 But I did apply a generous amount of moisturizer knowing that it would happen.
03:23 I feel like it's mostly going to be during the day if it emphasizes any dry patches.
03:26 So I would recommend exfoliating and making sure your skin is really moisturized.
03:30 So far it looks good so I'll apply the rest of my makeup.
03:33 I'll update you to see if it went patchy on contour and everything.
03:37 I was planning on trying the new NYX contour kit but I don't think I will just because a lot of people said it was patchy.
03:44 So I don't want to blame the foundation for the contour.
03:47 Okay, super zoomed in.
03:49 I just wanted to show you that I didn't have, like I usually have little bits and pieces of skin.
03:55 Because if you don't exfoliate a lot and you have dry skin that's what happens.
03:58 And right now you don't see any of it.
04:00 So that's probably where it's going to become crusty and cakey during the day.
04:06 So far so good.
04:08 So I did the rest of my makeup. I just wanted to show you.
04:11 I'm really surprised because I know with my dry skin if I don't apply any powder on the side when I try to apply contour and stuff.
04:17 It can look a little patchy and it's just so hard to blend on dry skin basically.
04:22 And I'm really surprised. I used my NARS little blush duo in Olympia.
04:27 Which by the way if you haven't tried this you need to.
04:31 And I used it as a blush and I used just the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil as a bronzer.
04:38 And I had absolutely no issues.
04:40 I didn't apply any highlight just because I wouldn't want the foundation to look more glowy than it is.
04:45 I feel like it's easier in that case to just see.
04:48 This is just the glowiness from my skin and the foundation.
04:51 So overall the makeup went really nice over it.
04:54 I have no complaint. The coverage is nice. It looks like skin.
04:58 I feel like it doesn't overly emphasize any line and pores.
05:02 Not more than any other foundation or just my normal skin to be honest.
05:06 It doesn't feel too dry either.
05:08 I didn't set it with any spray.
05:11 I didn't use any spray to set it either.
05:14 So this is just really just the foundation.
05:16 So I will update you throughout the day.
05:20 Probably just at the end unless I see a huge change.
05:23 Like it looks super dry or something.
05:25 But again right now it just looks fine.
05:28 So I've been wearing this foundation for a couple of hours.
05:31 So I've been wearing this foundation for almost 7 hours now.
05:36 And my skin doesn't feel dry.
05:38 I'm really surprised to be honest.
05:40 I'm not expecting a dry mess because that's what everyone has been saying.
05:44 But except maybe a tiny tiny little bit on the tip of my nose.
05:47 But that's about it.
05:49 I don't even know if you're going to be able to see.
05:51 There's barely anything.
05:53 So I'm really impressed.
05:55 I still like the finish. It still looks like skin.
05:58 It didn't settle too much into any lines or pore.
06:02 But I didn't set it with powder.
06:04 So I would usually do that.
06:06 But I really wanted to test it out on its own.
06:08 And so far so good.
06:09 But I'm expecting that probably in the next few hours that's where the mess is going to start.
06:14 So once again I will update you a little bit later.
06:16 So last update.
06:17 I've been wearing this foundation for around 9 hours now.
06:20 And I am so impressed.
06:23 I was expecting it to be a complete mess to be honest.
06:25 Because it's not supposed to suit dry skin.
06:28 And there's only one little particle of dryness on my nose.
06:32 I don't know if you're going to be able to see it.
06:36 But there's like just a little thing there.
06:40 That's it.
06:41 The rest looks fine.
06:43 It doesn't look like dry cakey or anything.
06:46 It looks glowy.
06:48 It doesn't feel oily.
06:49 It didn't settle like maybe a tiny tiny little bit in my pores.
06:52 But like nothing that a primer could have not fixed.
06:55 So if you have like normal to dry skin.
06:58 I would just say use a primer that is moisturizing.
07:00 Or just put a lot of like moisturizer.
07:03 Maybe some oil before you apply the foundation.
07:05 And you're okay.
07:06 So it really isn't that bad.
07:07 Obviously it's just my personal experience.
07:10 I will test it out more.
07:11 Because I still have plenty in my little sample.
07:14 To use it probably under like 3 times.
07:16 So I will be able to decide if I want to purchase it.
07:18 But so far I think I will purchase the full size.
