00:06 Today I'm going to show you two hairstyles in one video
00:10 using three different braids.
00:12 So that sounds really complicated,
00:13 but don't panic because it's not at all.
00:16 So I'm going to teach you, first of all, the feathered waterfall.
00:19 And then I'm going to show you how
00:20 to do the ladder braid combo.
00:22 So let's get started.
00:23 [MUSIC - MINDY, "LADDER BRAID COMBO"]
00:27 -You can see your hair's just kind of straight.
00:29 And we're going to pick up just a section right on the front
00:32 and towards the top of her head.
00:33 And we're going to just start a regular braid.
00:37 And we're going to do one stitch of a regular braid.
00:40 Now we're going to start lace braiding it,
00:42 picking up strands from this left side only
00:45 and adding into the top piece of the braid.
00:47 Then, to make it even a little trickier,
00:49 we're going to feather this bottom piece.
00:51 So just take a very small piece out of that section
00:55 and then go ahead and do a regular braid.
00:59 Now again, lace.
01:00 So add a little piece of hair in right here on the top.
01:06 Cross it over on this bottom section.
01:09 Pull off a little piece.
01:12 And now cross it over.
01:14 And we're just going to continue to do that.
01:16 I'll give you another one so you can see.
01:18 I just added hair into the top piece.
01:20 I'm going to cross that over.
01:22 Before I add the middle piece, I'm
01:24 going to pull off a little section.
01:26 And now cross it over.
01:28 So you can see I'm only taking hair out of the bottom piece.
01:31 I'm not adding any hair in.
01:34 Cross it over.
01:37 A little section out.
01:40 And continue.
01:42 And we're just going to do this all the way around
01:46 to the back of her head.
01:49 [MUSIC PLAYING]
01:52 (SINGING) This is one thing I love you.
01:55 That's what I'm telling you.
01:58 Oh, and there's no irony because I see--
02:02 OK, now when I get to this point,
02:04 I'm just going to go ahead and finish it off
02:06 as a regular braid.
02:07 I'm going to braid it nearly down to the end
02:17 and then secure it with an elastic.
02:18 [MUSIC PLAYING]
02:22 And then go ahead and drop the feathers.
02:28 And what you've created-- this is hairstyle number one--
02:31 is sort of like a fake waterfall braid.
02:35 You can see just how the feathers fall so beautifully
02:39 out of the braid.
02:40 And you can just leave it like this.
02:42 Or you can even bobby pin it up here behind her ears
02:44 if you didn't love this braided part.
02:46 [MUSIC PLAYING]
02:51 Going up to the top part of her hair,
02:53 I'm going to take those feather pieces
02:58 and flip them out of the way just right here on the top.
03:04 Let me just hang on to that for one second.
03:06 There we go.
03:07 And I'm going to pick up another section of hair right here.
03:11 And I'm going to go ahead and do essentially another lace braid.
03:16 Except when I add in pieces, I'm going
03:19 to add in those little feathers that we did originally.
03:23 So I'm only adding in on the one side still.
03:29 But I'm only adding in those feathers.
03:32 And this is what creates the ladder braid effect
03:36 that we want.
03:39 So you can see it's going, picking up little feathers,
03:45 trying to keep them pretty close together at this point,
03:48 maybe about an inch apart.
03:49 And as we go farther back on her head,
03:56 I'll let it drop just a little bit more.
04:00 Turn her.
04:06 So that it creates a really fun effect.
04:10 [MUSIC PLAYING]
04:13 And again, when we get to the end, this is my last feather.
04:25 I'm just going to go ahead and braid it all the way down
04:33 to nearly the end and secure with another elastic.
04:36 And you are finished.
04:48 So Amazing Us and you guys, you have now
04:54 used three different braids and created this amazing hair
04:59 that I just love the way it looks.
05:01 And every time she wears this, she
05:03 gets a bajillion comments on it.
05:06 Another fun thing I think would be really cool to do
05:08 is go ahead and feather all the way down this braid
05:10 on this one side.
05:12 And then go ahead and ladder this whole-- these two pieces
05:15 together all the way down.
05:17 And then you could also side sweep the hair
05:19 and tuck it through like we did on our original ladder braid
05:23 hair tutorial.
05:24 And have a side ponytail all side swept
05:27 like this with just this giant ladder down.
05:29 It would be so amazing.
05:31 So here it is.
