00:00 Hi, I'm Laurie.
00:07 So today I'm going to be making a baby bump shower cake.
00:13 These are actually just mixing bowls that I had at home so you don't have to go out
00:17 and buy new pans.
00:18 We're just going to make the body out of these bowls and turn it into a beautiful cake for
00:22 your baby shower.
00:25 So first off to make the flowers, I'm going to roll out some dark pink fondant and I'm
00:29 just going to cut out the flower petals.
00:31 I'm using these three different shapes.
00:33 I will put a link in my description below where you can find these flowers.
00:37 Once you've cut them out, I'm just using some thin foam mat and I'm using my veining tool.
00:43 Starting at the tip of the flower and pulling in towards the center and that will actually
00:46 curl them up like this.
00:49 You're going to need them to set in forming cups overnight to dry.
00:52 Once they're dry, you're ready to assemble them with some water.
00:55 As you can see I've actually used really tight little small forming cups for the smaller
01:00 flowers and larger, wider ones for the big ones so that way you get the different shapes
01:04 of petals.
01:09 Now I've already baked my cake in these ovenproof bowls.
01:13 This is going to be the stomach and I'm just going to carve around the sides of the cake
01:17 just to make sure it's nice and even and smooth.
01:21 These are going to be the boobies.
01:23 I'm going to take those out of the bowls and you're going to want to cut the tops of each
01:27 of the cakes off so that way they sit nice and level on your cake board.
01:33 Now I'm going to divide these cakes in half.
01:42 Now the belly is actually pretty tall so I'm going to divide it into three sections and
01:47 then you're ready to fill them.
01:49 I'm just filling my cakes using some vanilla buttercream.
01:55 Now when you take your layer of cake off, try to put it back in the same spot, otherwise
02:01 if you haven't cut it perfectly it might look a little bit wonky and misshapen.
02:08 So I'm going to start carving the top of the cake.
02:10 I want there to be a gradual slope from her boobs to her tummy so that way it doesn't
02:15 look like someone just stuck a basketball underneath this pregnant woman's shirt.
02:19 So you're going to carve down the top of the belly and I'm also taking the tops of the
02:27 other part of the cake that I cut off and sticking that in.
02:30 I'm going to crumb coat it using some thin buttercream icing.
02:36 That cake will all sit in there nicely together.
02:40 Just make sure it's nice and smooth.
02:42 Now I'm just sticking another small piece of cake for her outie little belly button.
02:49 So I'm going to roll out some skin tone fondant and I'm going to do this in two separate parts.
02:58 You can trim around it with some scissors.
03:01 Just make sure it's nice and flush and use some more buttercream icing just to make sure
03:05 it's nice and smooth and not lumpy.
03:08 I've already rolled out my pink fondant for my dress.
03:12 You can just readjust that into the place where you're comfortable with it.
03:16 I want my dress only to come right underneath her bust line so I'm going to start trimming
03:21 that back a little and then just trim off any excess if it's too long in certain areas.
03:27 Then just flow it out.
03:28 You don't want the dress to go straight down to the cake board because the dress flows
03:32 out pretty.
03:35 For her top I'm going to do that in two separate sections again and just pinch the center part
03:40 together.
03:44 Then trim that back with your knife and scissors as well.
03:49 Make sure it's nice and smooth, no creases.
03:53 Then just smooth out the stomach and the boobs so you don't have any lumps.
03:56 You don't want a lumpy belly.
03:59 Then just put a little water underneath her bust.
04:02 I've already rolled out some dark pink fondant and cut it into a long strip.
04:10 This is really just a spacer so I can stick my flower on top without it breaking.
04:17 Two more strips and I'm going to cut this funky, angly thing that you do on ribbons
04:22 and flow that down her stomach.
04:30 I cut out these really tiny strips that I'm going to wrap around the top of her shirt
04:34 just to add a little extra detail, a little bit more color.
04:39 For the rest of the flowers I'm going to use some piping gel, put a little bit on the bottom
04:42 of the flower and stick that to the cake board.
04:45 That's going to help decorate up the cake board and make it look beautiful.
04:48 I hope you guys enjoyed the cake.
04:49 I think it's just really beautiful and I'm sure that whoever gets the cake, the mother
04:55 to be, is going to absolutely adore it.
04:57 If you really like the cake don't forget to check out my channel where I put out new videos
05:02 every Tuesday.
05:03 Thanks for watching.
05:04 Bye bye.
