00:00 Hey guys, it's Elise.
00:14 Welcome back to My Cupcake Addiction.
00:16 Today we're going to be making an amazing Giant Twix No Bake Slice.
00:22 Love this because it's no-bake so anyone can make it and because it's a giant Twix so anyone
00:26 can eat it.
00:27 Let's get started.
00:29 To make your Twix bar, you're going to need a nice long tin.
00:31 I'm using either a bar tin or a loaf tin.
00:34 And I've got mine lined today with a bit of baking paper.
00:36 You need some good quality compound milk chocolate and also some caramel chews.
00:41 These ones are Werther's.
00:42 Kraft is great in the US but just a firm caramel chewy lolly.
00:46 You'll need roughly 30 shortbread biscuits for the size that I've got.
00:50 And I just buy these in packets.
00:51 They're not very expensive.
00:52 These ones are actually the perfect size for my little bar tin.
00:56 I've got a couple of spoons.
00:57 I've got my mini Twix just for comparison and I may have to sample them as I go.
01:02 So let's get started.
01:03 The first thing you want to do is you want to make sure that your tin is lined with one
01:06 large piece like mine here in the center and 2 smaller pieces at either end.
01:10 This is going to make it a lot easier to get your Twix out at the end when it's finished
01:15 than if you line it with little separate pieces of baking paper everywhere.
01:18 Take your melted chocolate now and you just want to pour it about a centimeter thick into
01:22 the bottom of your loaf pan which will actually become the top of your Twix bar.
01:26 Just pour it in and use a spoon to kind of level it out and push it into all the corners.
01:30 And then you want to give it a couple of really nice hard taps on the bench.
01:35 Make sure here that your baking paper sort of stays folded over the sides or else you
01:39 can end up with a bit of a kink in the side of your Twix bar and then it's not going to
01:43 cover so well.
01:44 Pop it off into the fridge to set.
01:46 While that one's setting, you want to melt your caramel chews.
01:48 So I did mine in 30-second intervals in the microwave and they took about a minute and
01:52 a half for all of those caramel chews to melt down.
01:55 You can see how lovely and thick and firm this caramel is.
01:58 Spoon your caramel on top of that chocolate and that chocolate should be fridge-set.
02:03 And then use the back of the spoon just to work it out to all of the corners.
02:06 But you don't really want it going right up against the outside edges of the baking paper
02:10 if you can avoid it.
02:11 Get it as neat as you possibly can and as level and then take your shortbread biscuits
02:15 and we're going to do 2 layers of shortbread biscuit.
02:18 Now if your tin is slightly taller, you might want to adjust your measurements here.
02:22 A little more caramel, an extra row of biscuits.
02:25 Obviously this is a super easy slice and you just want to do it by eye.
02:28 With my first row of biscuits all in nice and neat, I'm going to pop that back off into
02:32 the fridge to let that caramel set because it's going to be starting to try to melt through
02:35 our top layer of chocolate.
02:37 So don't make that top layer of chocolate too thin.
02:40 Once it's set, you can melt down a little bit more of, I like the caramel or the chocolate's
02:44 fine.
02:45 And then you just want to spoon on an extra spoonful and use that as kind of a glue to
02:49 stick your next layer of shortbread biscuits down.
02:52 You do need to glue these to each other or else when you cut into the slice, the biscuits
02:56 are going to fall apart and each person's slice of your Twix bars are going to fall
02:59 apart.
03:00 When your next layer of biscuits is in place, you just want to take some more of that melted
03:04 milk chocolate and pour it over.
03:06 Now you don't want this to extend past the lip of your loaf tin or your bar tin.
03:11 Give it a couple of really good hard taps down on the bench because you want to make
03:14 sure that all of that chocolate gets down into the sides and gets into all of the grooves.
03:19 That's going to take a couple of hours in the fridge to completely set.
03:21 And when it comes out, it should be nice and firm and solid.
03:25 So peel off the baking paper and then you're going to need to grab yourself a tray lined
03:28 with baking paper with a couple of glasses.
03:31 This is just to elevate the Twix bar.
03:33 Pop the Twix bar up on top and then you want to take some more of that melted milk compound
03:38 chocolate.
03:39 Now if that compound chocolate is too thick here, you can thin it out with a little bit
03:42 of Crisco or a little bit of coffe.
03:44 Just pour it all the way over the top as evenly as you can.
03:48 And working quite quickly before it starts to set, just use a spatula or even the back
03:52 of a knife just to smooth up the sides.
03:55 Once you've smoothed up the sides, let it drip for a little bit and then just use your
03:59 spatula or your knife just to trim off that very very bottom line so you've got a nice
04:04 neat base.
04:05 Finally, you just want to take the back of a spoon and just kind of run it ever so lightly
04:09 in the top chocolate and just back and forth to give it that kind of chocolatey bar top
04:14 shape.
04:15 Be careful here as that might push a little bit of extra chocolate over the edges.
04:19 So have your spatula or your knife at the ready and make sure you do this while all
04:21 the chocolate is still wet so you can neaten up any overspills before they set.
04:26 So there you've got your awesome 3-ingredient no-bake giant Twix bar slice.
04:31 You can make one of these or you could make many and join them together to make a mammoth
04:35 Twix bar.
04:36 I love this.
04:37 It is my go-to recipe when I need something in a hurry.
04:41 And trust me, when you bring this into a party, for some reason, it is always the first thing
04:45 to go.
04:46 I have no idea why.
