00:00 Hey guys, Kevin here. So let's take a look at an in-studio performance of Switch Lee.
00:07 So you have the spectator name any card. Let's say they name the two of clubs. We're going
00:21 to take out the pair, so two of spades. And what we're going to do right now is isolate
00:28 a mystery card in between the two twos. We're going to place this aside. And right now I
00:35 need a selection. So name any card. Any card at all. The jack of spades. Okay. Wouldn't
00:43 that be crazy if that card that we isolated in the very beginning was the jack of spades?
00:52 Here, I'll show you. In between the two twos from the very beginning is actually the jack
00:59 of spades. Okay guys, so to start off the third card, we're going to isolate the pair
01:10 of clubs. Okay guys, so to start off the effect, we're going to have the spectator
01:17 name any card. And let's say they name the joker. You're going to take out the other
01:31 card making it a pair. Or you can just have two cards to begin with. But I like to do
01:39 this because it makes the trick feel more free. Okay, so once you have this, you're
01:44 going to isolate a random card. So take out a random card and place it in the middle of
01:51 the cards. You're going to set this aside and place it in the spectator's hand. Now
01:58 what we're going to do is ask the spectators to name any card. And when they're naming
02:04 the card, you immediately spread through. You're going to have the deck facing towards
02:08 you and find that card. So if they name the queen of diamonds, you're going to find it
02:13 and you're going to cut it to the top. Just like that. So now the queen is on top. Okay,
02:20 now here comes the switch game move. You're going to pick up the whole pack and you're
02:31 going to get a break, a pinky break under the queen of diamonds or whatever card they
02:38 name. You're going to do this very casually as you're picking up the cards. You're going
02:44 to get that pinky break. What you're going to do now is you're going to place the joker
02:49 or the card, one of the cards on top. You're going to align it and you're going to place
02:56 the mystery card about this much so you can see some of the joker. Not too much like this
03:03 but about here. With more practice you can do it about half way. Right now you want it
03:12 about one fourth showing. And this card is just going to go kind of sideways like this.
03:19 You don't want it straight, you want it sideways. Okay, now that you've got that down, this
03:26 is the hold. You're going to put your middle finger grabbing all of these cards. So essentially
03:33 that card, their selection is under this joker. The move, the switch move is basically this.
03:41 Using your thumb, you're going to place it on the deck like this, aligning it. Use your
03:52 thumb right here, you're going to pull this in. You're going to align it covering this
03:59 joker now. While under, you're basically pulling out the queen with your first finger like
04:06 this. So first get that part down. Okay, so break, align, one fourth sideways. And then
04:17 pick up the whole stack. Thumb, actually align it first. Thumb, pull while at the same time
04:24 using first finger to pull out their selection like this. So now you're in this position.
04:43 This is what you're going to do next. You're basically just going to turn these two cards
04:48 over. Use your thumb, slide that card down while you turn this card back over, turn it
04:55 down. So again, you're in this position. You just pulled it out. Turn both cards. Use your
05:04 thumb, slide it down, show it, and turn sideways. Okay, so now you're going to flip the cards
05:12 over. All you need to do now is just strip the card out and show them.
05:34 So here is the move again. Break, align, one fourth, sideways, pick up, align, use your
05:41 thumb while you're using the other finger, turn, show, swivel, and that's it. That's
06:01 Switchly. So now you're in the position of having their selected card, a Joker face down,
06:08 an indifferent card, and a Joker face up. So to clean up, all you do is when you're
06:25 swiveling out the card, you show the spectator, hand it to them to check it out, and you can
06:32 also kind of just push the top card aside. Now what you're going to do is while they're
06:39 checking that card out, just turn over that card. It's very easy to do, and you can just
06:46 cut the deck back in the middle, and you're clean.
06:54 Here's a bonus idea. So instead of having Switchly done with the deck in their hand,
07:01 you can actually just have a break. Align the cards and pick up everything above the
07:11 break. So now their selection is underneath, and you can just kind of spread through, except
07:20 don't spread through the last card or they're going to see a face down card. So you can
07:27 go like this, and I like to put my index finger on top, so I kind of push with the meaty part
07:34 of your hand right here, so that the card stays aligned and it's not sliding around.
07:42 This is harder to do than holding the deck, but it's well worth it, so just practice.
07:49 You're basically doing the same exact move. Just like this. Keep practicing this move
07:56 because it's harder in the sense that when you do this move, sometimes the card won't
08:05 align straight. But with practice, and pattern with the audience, no one will notice that,
08:15 and it seems a lot cleaner. After this, what I like to do is just place the card back in
08:21 the middle and I say, "This actually isn't the Seven of Clubs. You thought of the Seven
08:26 of Clubs, that's why you're seeing it." And what you do now is just close the pack, and
08:32 then say, "Actually, that's not the Seven of Clubs. We're going to go back in time before
08:38 you even thought of the Seven of Clubs. Check this out." What you're going to do now is
08:44 just do the Shapeshifter move. Just grabbing it with your middle finger and thumb on the
08:51 top left and bottom right edge, and just using your next finger to kind of swivel it like
08:58 this. It's called the Shapeshifter move, and you can find it all over YouTube, so check
09:04 that out. Now the pack is flipped over. What you do now is you spread the top card, spread
09:13 the middle card, and do not spread the last two cards. So you can show them that it was
09:20 always an indifferent card, but they thought of the Seven of Clubs, that's why they saw
09:37 it. Here's bonus idea number dos. So you have a card in the middle, the two jokers. I'm
09:44 going to show you what it is. Oh wait, whoops, that's actually my gift card. So how this
09:55 works is you can either somehow steal someone's ID or their credit card, and do this a little
10:06 bit. It's just a really different effect if you think of it. The setup is basically the
10:13 same. You have the ID card under the joker, so that would be like the selection. Like
10:22 this, you're going to have the indifferent card, and then you're going to have another
10:28 joker. So you're doing the same move, which is this. Oops, they're stuck together. I'll
10:35 do that again. So this. And it's just a really cool change. Alright guys, so that's it. That's
10:53 Switchling. I hope you enjoyed it. It's a very fun sandwich effect to do with any deck,
10:59 and it doesn't take a long time to learn. Keep practicing, and if you have troubles,
11:06 just keep watching the Switchling move part of this video. And if you still need further
11:13 help, you can always contact me at magickevinlee@gmail.com. I'll be putting an annotation somewhere here,
11:21 so yeah. Thank you for purchasing Switchling. I'm Kevin Lee, and I'll see you guys next
11:27 time.
