03:13 The concept of this DVD is extremely simple.
03:16 We wanted to take a collection of self-working card magic that was both appropriate for the
03:21 amateur performer who doesn't do a lot of sleight of hand, but also is appropriate for
03:26 the professional performer who has found himself in that situation that I know I have where
03:31 you're booked for a party of 100 for two hours and five people show up.
03:36 So what do you do when you've finished your regular set and somebody says, "Do something
03:39 else."
03:40 Well, these tricks, I think, get overlooked by a lot of professionals because you maybe
03:45 learnt them when you were first starting out and forget how powerful they are.
03:48 And just to prove how powerful they can be, we went out on location into London and filmed
03:54 them for real people and got some real reactions.
03:58 So having said that, let's go do some magic.
04:18 This is a brilliant effect.
04:19 It was a brilliant effect, self-working effect on its own.
04:23 What makes it slightly different is we've added a kicker ending, which I think really
04:28 gives it another powerful punch.

05:11 Hold your hand out.
05:12 I'll do 14 cards.

05:17 But sometimes people think that I know you're going to say 14.
05:20 So to make it even more impossible, we'll add those two digits together.

05:24 So if you count off five cards, take the fifth card and don't let anyone see it.

05:42 All you have to do, wave your hand over the pack as magically as you can.

05:49 If I spread through, you'll see there's one card flips over in the pack, the five of diamonds,

05:59 Because that's actually a marker card.
06:00 Because that shows me that if you hold your hand out, I count down one, two, three, four,
06:08 five cards.
06:10 That should be, what was your card?

06:32 This trick has a classic element to it.
06:36 The apparently getting it wrong, the wrong card, but then you include that card and it
06:42 means that that card actually means something.
06:43 So you count from that that many.
06:45 So you have a five and you count five cards.
06:49 That premise has appeared in quite a few effects in the past.
06:53 What I added was the, when we were going through these tricks prior to making the DVD, was
06:59 that those cards being used, you could include them and make it turn into a royal flush.
07:06 The setup is extremely simple.
07:07 On the bottom of the pack, you have the ace of clubs, queen of clubs, jack of clubs, and
07:13 ten of clubs.
07:15 You can have any suit as long as that suit matches the force card, which is the king
07:19 of clubs in this case.
07:20 So if you're using the king of diamonds, that would be the ace and queen, jack, ten of diamonds.
07:26 Underneath that, you have any five.
07:28 I like to use a red five so it contrasts the black cards.
07:34 You have that face up on the bottom of the pack, face down even on the bottom of the
07:38 pack.
07:39 So, the setup again from here, as you can see from the bottom, is a face up five.
07:46 Then underneath that, you've got the other four cards matching in the royal flush.
07:52 You also have the king of clubs, depending if you're going to use this force, the count
07:57 force, you're going to have the king of clubs tenth from the top.
08:00 So four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
08:04 That needs to be the king of clubs.
08:07 You start the routine off.
08:08 You say, "Okay, I could spread through the cards and ask you to take one out, but sometimes
08:11 people think that I'm cheating, that I'm doing some sleight of hand.
08:14 So what I want you to do is just name a number between ten and twenty."
08:19 So they say, let's for argument's sake, fourteen.
08:22 So you count down fourteen cards onto their hand.
08:24 One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen.
08:31 I normally say after this, a lot of people think that I might have known what they were
08:34 going to say because I'm a magician after all.
08:36 So let's make it even more impossible.
08:38 Let's add those two digits together, one and four, five.
08:41 Okay, so look at the fifth card from the top of this packet.
08:45 So they can either count down cards from there onto somebody else's hand, or they can simply
08:50 go one, two, three, four, five, and that's the card that they look at.
08:55 That would be the King of Clubs.
08:58 Now what's important at this point is that they now put the King of Clubs back on top
09:03 of that packet, that packet of cards that you've just counted down.
09:08 Because now what you're going to do, you're going to drop the balance of the deck, with
09:12 the Ace of Clubs on the bottom, on top of the King of Clubs.
09:17 That's all there is to it.
09:18 Because now you're going to get them, I get them to wave their hand as magically as they
09:21 can over the packet and say, "Look, amazingly as it seems, if I spread through, your card
09:26 has reversed in the packet the Five of Hearts."
09:28 Of course they look at you and they say, "Okay, but it's a nice little moment because again
09:32 it's a sucker moment."
09:33 And they say no, and you say, "Oh, well that's not your card, that's a marker card.
09:38 It means if we count down, in fact you don't even have to say that is your card, you can
09:42 say one card's reversed in the packet, the Five of Hearts."
09:44 And they say, "That wasn't my card."
09:45 You say, "Well I didn't say it was your card."
09:46 "No, that's a marker card, because it means if I count one, two, three, four, and five
09:55 cards, that should be the King of Clubs, your card."
09:59 Of course they react to this, but this is the first part, this is a very strong effect,
10:03 you've found their card and it was at a specific point.
10:07 Not only that, you say, "And if you play poker you'll realize not only that, but we found
10:14 the Ten Jack, Queen and Ace of Clubs giving me a Royal Flush, which means I win."
10:21 So it's got a nice poker theme there at the end, it's a nice kicker finish.
10:27 Generally what I'll be doing is I'll be putting the cards into their hand.
10:30 So let's go through that again, when the King is there, and these cards are here, and the
10:35 Five of Hearts is there.
10:36 So you spread through, you say, "One card's reversed in the pack, that's the Five of Hearts."
10:43 You wait, and they're bound to say, "That's not my card."
10:44 You say, "No, no, no, it's a market card."
10:46 You see, if we count out one, two, three, four, five cards, that should be your card
10:54 right there.
10:55 You give that card to them, they grab it, they turn it over, they see it's their card.
10:59 I even put the deck away at this point, the King of Clubs.
11:02 I say, "Not only that, but if you've already asked them earlier on if they play poker,
11:07 you pick them up and say, "Not only that, but I think we did pretty well.
11:10 You'll see that we've actually made ourselves a Royal Flush."
11:14 And it's a really nice kicker ending, and it gives the trick a nice poker theme.
11:20 So that's a great trick, I hope you get a lot out of it, and it's again very, very simple
11:25 to do.
11:28 One of the most powerful tricks you can do is a selected card to an impossible location.
11:44 In this case, we've chosen the shoe because it tends to be something you've got on you
11:49 all day, and it's very easy to set up.
11:52 But you could equally do this to a beer bottle or a card box or anywhere else you can imagine.
11:59 One tip though, don't keep it in your shoe all day.
12:02 It could get a little soggy.
12:05 This is Soul Survivor.
12:20 Sometimes you see when I do magic and I spread cards out and say, "Get you to take one,"
12:23 people obviously think that I'm doing sleight of hand and stuff.
12:25 She's just so happy to be here, look at that.
12:28 What I want you to do instead, Nick, would you name a number in between 10 and 20.
12:33 Just name a number.
12:34 16.
12:35 16, brilliant.
12:36 Hold your hand out for a sec.
12:37 If I count down, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.
12:44 Totally free choice, right?
12:45 Yeah.
12:46 But sometimes people think that I knew that you were going to say 16.
12:48 So if we make it even more impossible, add those two digits together, 6 and 1, that's
12:52 7.
12:53 So if you count off 7 cards, one at a time, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and that's the 7th card
13:04 there.
13:05 You take that, I'll take those, so that you make sure that's definitely ... Have a look
13:08 at that.
13:09 Show it to the camera, I don't want to see it.
13:10 It's very, very important.
13:11 Okay?
13:12 And just pop it back in the pack, absolutely anywhere you like.

13:17 If you shuffle the cards as well.

14:18 This trick is based on a duplicate card and a force.
14:22 It's very, very simple, again.
14:24 What you need to have is a duplicate card in your shoe and another card ready to force,
14:30 which in this case is the 10 of diamonds we're going to force.
14:33 And we're going to be using the count force.
14:36 Now the count force, what you need is you need the card that you're going to force,
14:39 you need a 10th from top.
14:41 So in this case, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
14:45 The 10th card is the 10 of diamonds.
14:47 That's the card that we're forcing.
14:50 Now the way that I present this is I say, now sometimes when I spread the cards out
14:53 and ask somebody to take a card, they think that I'm doing some sort of slider hand.
14:57 So could you just randomly call out a number between, I don't know, 1 and, well, make it
15:02 between 10 and 20.
15:04 So in this case, let's say they say 13.
15:06 What you're going to do is you're going to have them hold their hand out and you're going
15:09 to count down 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 cards.
15:18 You then say to them, but sometimes people think that I knew that they were going to
15:21 say 13.
15:22 So what I want you to do, let's make it even more random.
15:24 Let's add those digits together.
15:26 Three and one is four.
15:27 So take those cards and count off another four cards.
15:31 1, 2, 3, 4.
15:34 I say look at that fourth card and remember it, which of course in this case is the 10
15:39 of diamonds.
15:41 They remember that card.
15:44 Now it's important when they count off those four cards, they can either count them off
15:49 into their own hands like so, or they could count off cards into somebody else's hand.
15:54 Either way, the fourth card from the top of that packet is going to be the fourth card.
15:59 But the great thing is about this, from then on, they can shuffle those cards in.
16:04 Put those cards, they can shuffle those.
16:07 You can take these and they shuffle those cards into those.
16:10 It really doesn't matter.
16:11 That card is completely lost.
16:14 But you're now going to actually vanish the 10 of diamonds from the deck.
16:21 It is a control as such.
16:22 It is a control, but it's the simplest control you'll ever do.
16:26 What I like to do is I'll reach into the back of the pack and I'll pull out a random card,
16:30 making sure it's not the 10 of diamonds, and say, "Was that your card, the nine of diamonds?
16:34 Your card, the nine of diamonds?"
16:35 Look all confident and they say no.
16:41 This is a great laugh moment.
16:43 It gets a nice little laugh.
16:45 Look a little sort of stressed and then spread through the pack.
16:48 Now what you're going to do is you're going to spread through the pack and you're going
16:50 to look for the 10 of diamonds.
16:52 So as soon as you see the 10 of diamonds here, leave a cover card, the nine of clubs there
16:58 in this case, and cut everything else to the top of the pack, meaning that the 10 of diamonds
17:04 is now second from the bottom.
17:07 Now proudly reveal, "I'm sorry about that first card.
17:10 Your card, the nine of clubs."
17:13 Again they're going to laugh and say no.
17:15 Now at this point it's the easiest thing in the world to pick up those two cards, the
17:20 nine of clubs and the 10 of diamonds, and embarrassingly put them away in your pocket
17:25 as if you're very embarrassed about the nine of clubs.
17:27 The great thing is it doesn't even have to be two cards.
17:30 The laughter moment is strong enough that you say, "It wasn't the nine of clubs."
17:35 Pick up a group of cards.
17:37 Just pick up a group and put those in your pocket.
17:38 In this case I think I picked up three.
17:40 But even if you picked up, say, "It wasn't the nine of clubs," put that away.
17:43 I mean that's a ridiculous group of cards, but the point is that's not a pressure moment.
17:48 It's not something you need to think about.
17:50 Just pick up a group of cards, say, "It wasn't the nine of clubs," and put those away in
17:53 your pocket.
17:54 So you're going to put those away in your pocket and you're going to say, "What about
17:56 the four of diamonds?"
17:58 No.
17:59 Repeat that action.
18:00 Put that in your pocket.
18:01 Say, "Ace of diamonds?"
18:02 No.
18:03 "Five of hearts?"
18:04 No.
18:05 And say, "Well, I tell you what, just let me know when you see your card."
18:07 Now start to spread through the cards and get them to shout out when they see their
18:11 card.
18:12 Of course they're not going to see it because it's actually in your pocket.
18:17 This is the first reaction moment, the fact that their card's actually vanished from the
18:20 pack.
18:21 You say, "Oh, it's weird.
18:22 Your card's vanished.
18:23 I can feel something in my shoe."
18:27 Now what you need is you need the duplicate ten of diamonds actually face down in your
18:31 shoe because that's going to give you a second and third reaction moment.
18:35 Rather than pulling your foot out of your shoe and they straight away see that the ten
18:38 of diamonds is there, you want to give yourself that extra little pause.
18:43 So the card's face down in your shoe.
18:44 You take your shoe off.
18:45 They see a card in there.
18:47 They've probably already made that leap to the fact that it's their card, but you pull
18:51 that card out of your shoe, hold it up and say, "And your card was," and they say, "Ten
18:55 of diamonds," turn the ten of diamonds over and you have an amazing trick.
19:00 You've just not only made their card vanish from the pack, but it's appeared in your shoe.
19:05 A card to an impossible location and I think that's as simple as it gets.
19:09 So I hope you get to have some fun with that, but like I say, don't leave it in your shoe
19:13 all day.
19:14 It can get a little soggy.
19:16 If you ever go out and forget your wallet, but you have a pack of cards on you, free

22:59 This is one of those sucker kind of effects where you're really sucking them in and to

23:07 And the presentation I always like to use, which is...

23:11 I hardly ever take them up on a free drink because normally you're working anyway.
23:15 But you can get free drinks through this, is you're going to pretend that you've gone
23:20 past their card.
23:21 That's the concept.
23:23 But having said that, it's an extremely simple trick to use and to do and it uses a key card.
23:29 And all you have to do at any point is see what the bottom card is.
23:33 At some point, glimpse the bottom card.
23:35 Now, it's a completely free selection.
23:38 They take out any card they like.
23:39 So let's say they select that card there.
23:41 That's the jack of clubs.
23:44 What I like to do is I turn away and I say, "Okay, hand me the card."
23:49 They hand the card and say, "Look, there's no way I could possibly see what it is."
23:52 And I place it on top of the pack and say, "Look, I'll bury it into the pack somewhere."
23:57 I say, "Look, I'll even cut them again."
24:00 And the great thing now is you can say to them, "Look, you cut the cards.
24:05 Give them a cut."
24:06 I often, when I'm going to ask somebody to specifically cut the cards, I say, "Can you
24:09 cut cards?
24:10 Can you give them a cut like that?"
24:12 And I demonstrate it once so you know that they're not going to take them and shuffle
24:17 them up.
24:19 Once they've done that, you say, "Look, I'm going to try and find your card.
24:22 But what I want you to do is keep a very poker face and don't react so that if I see your
24:27 card, if you see your card, don't react because that might give it away."
24:31 What you're now going to do is deal through cards.
24:33 Now, in this case, the four of clubs, your key card, has ended up on top through a process
24:38 of random cutting.
24:40 So if we cut this to the middle, I mean, that works obviously just as well.
24:44 But just for example purposes, you start dealing through and you say, "I'm going to deal through
24:49 cards.
24:50 If you see your card, don't react, but I'm going to try and find your card."
24:54 Now, what you're looking for is the four of clubs, but you're going to deal straight past
24:57 it noting the card after it.
25:00 So I've now noted that the card is the jack of clubs.
25:02 I pause, I turn another one over, and then I flick this card and say, "You know what?
25:10 I bet this is your card."
25:11 No, sorry, this is the thing you don't say.
25:12 You don't say, "I bet this is your card."
25:14 So I bet the next card I turn over will be your card.
25:17 That's very important because that's the sucker affair.
25:20 You say, "The next card I turn over will be your card."
25:22 You're not saying this card, you're saying, "The next card I turn over."
25:25 So everybody who's seen that card go by, they can't wait for you to fail.
25:30 They're looking because they think they've got you this time.
25:33 So as soon as they say, "Yeah, you know, if you're right, I'll buy you a drink."
25:36 As soon as they say that, you spread through these cards, find their card, the jack of
25:42 clubs, and turn it over.
25:46 And sometimes you get a little bit of confusion at this point.
25:48 They go, "No, but you said..."
25:50 And then it dawns on them what you actually said.
25:51 I said, "I didn't say this card.
25:53 I said the next card I turn over."
25:55 And you'll see from the reactions.
25:58 It's a lot of fun because they think they have you, they think they've got you, which
26:04 they clearly haven't.
26:05 So I hope you get some free drinks with that.

26:25 Sometimes it's nice to take a back seat and let somebody else be the star for once.
26:31 This is a very, very easy mind reading trick, which where somebody else gets to do the mind

28:48 But you're going to be stooging or planting somebody that you've never met before, which

28:58 And it makes it equally more impossible, especially if, as it happens most times, the person that
29:04 you use ends up putting lots of effort into the acting.
29:07 Because the great thing is they're now the star.
29:10 I've had people putting lots of facial expressions on.
29:13 They're really concentrating.
29:14 And also, you'll see in the footage, one of the girls, she actually starts doing a mind
29:19 reading action.
29:20 And it's a lot of fun.
29:22 Having said that, it's extremely easy.
29:24 I just could find somebody maybe, I like to find somebody who's maybe separated off from
29:28 a group at a bar that I haven't been to their group yet.
29:33 And or I'll manage in a routine when everybody's sort of in between routines, I'll maybe whisper
29:39 to somebody.
29:40 And I'll basically say, "Look, I think we could have a bit of fun with your group."
29:43 And he'll say, "You're gonna be the mind reader."
29:46 And they love that.
29:47 Nobody ever says no.
29:51 And how you do it, you explain that the bottom card, when you hold up the pack, whatever
29:56 the bottom card is, that's the card that they have to name.
29:59 It's as simple as that.
30:01 And you're then gonna force that card.
30:04 Incidentally, if you want, another way that I use in the footage is if you don't have
30:09 really a chance to whisper in their ear and explain it, you can do a reverse fan.
30:14 So instead of fanning it that way, you actually fan it holding your right hand and reverse
30:21 the cards out like so.
30:23 Which means the only card that they can see is the bottom card.
30:27 Now apart from anything else, this is actually funny to somebody when you hold it and say,
30:31 "Okay, have you got a card?
30:32 Have you seen one?"
30:33 You maybe even give them a little wink.
30:35 Most people get it, okay?
30:38 If they don't get it, then maybe it's not the trick you want to do with them.
30:44 But having said that, the force that you use, that I use in the footage, is the crisscross
30:50 force or the cut force.
30:52 And it couldn't be simpler.
30:54 You give the cards to somebody else with the force card on the bottom.
30:58 And this can be done from the top or the bottom of the pack.
31:01 But from this point, it's better if it's on the bottom of the pack because it means you're
31:05 obviously stooging them, that's how you're stooging them.
31:08 So you get somebody to cut about half the cards into your hands.
31:13 And then take that packet from them and I say, "We'll mark the position."
31:19 And you cross the packets like so, making it obvious.
31:22 You then come back and address them face to face and say, "Now there's no way I could
31:26 possibly have influenced you there.
31:29 You cut wherever you want.
31:30 I mean, I didn't influence you, right?
31:31 That's true."
31:32 So it's all about time misdirection.
31:37 When you've cut those cards like so, say, "There's no way I can force you."
31:40 When they come back down, that's it.
31:43 That's as much time misdirection as you need.
31:45 You then come up and say, "Okay, I'd like you to remember the card."
31:49 Now I think this is important.
31:51 When you come up like this, if you hold the cards like this, this visual image makes it
31:56 look like it came from the middle of the pack.
32:00 Hold those up like that, have a look at the card, and then drop the cards together so
32:07 that card's completely lost.
32:10 That's the very, very simple crisscross force.
32:12 So let's say the force card is the ace of diamonds.
32:15 They take the cards.
32:16 They cut half the packet into your hand.
32:19 I take this packet from them and say, "Look, I'll mark that position like so."
32:24 Say there's no way I could possibly have influenced you there.
32:27 You cut wherever you want, as deep or as shallow as you want.
32:29 I want you to have a look at the card, and also a little bit of time distraction.
32:33 Make sure this person doesn't see.
32:36 That's an important thing.
32:37 Make sure they don't see the card.
32:38 It's very important because they're going to mind you.
32:40 Have a look at the card.
32:41 Have you seen it?
32:43 Okay, there's no way anybody can know.
32:45 Now address the person in the mind and say, "Okay."
32:49 And even do a bit of acting yourself here.
32:52 Say, "Okay, can I use you, sir?"
32:56 Or you might even bring them over and say, "I want you to look deep into their eyes,"
32:59 which is a nice little bit of comedy thing as well as you can see the girls go over the
33:02 top and get them to name the card.
33:06 When they name the card, everybody's going to be going, "How the heck did you know?
33:09 How the heck did you find that out?"
33:11 At which point, while everybody's freaking out, you can stooge them again.
33:15 You can hold the pack up.
33:16 When they look, they see the next card, the four of clubs, and you can do them again.
33:20 You can do it again.
33:22 And if you do it once or twice, this kills.
33:25 And you've got a friend for life as well because you've made them a star.
33:30 And the great thing is, like I said, they never tell anybody how it's done because why
33:33 would they tell them how their trick ... That's their trick.
33:36 It's their little moment.
33:38 So again, don't underestimate this trick.
33:40 It's extremely powerful.
33:42 And it's also a nice little thing to throw into the middle of a set as well.
33:47 So that is taking a back seat because you're taking a back seat.
33:56 Ahead of the game, again, a very, very powerful trick.

34:16 And again, it's a very simple concept.
34:18 That's the great thing about a lot of these tricks.

35:47 As the name suggests, a head of the game uses a one-ahead principle.
35:53 You need a leader card, which is on top of the pack.
35:56 I like to use the Ace of Spades.
35:57 It seems to be a logical card to use as a leader card.
36:01 You're going to keep track of the Ace of Spades.
36:03 And the way you're going to do that is you're going to dribble all the cards out onto the
36:06 table.
36:07 This is one of the few tricks on the DVD that you need a table for.
36:11 And I know the Ace of Spades is there, and I'm going to keep my thumb on the Ace of Spades
36:15 as I move all of these cards around.
36:16 I'm going to keep my thumb on it so I now know the Ace of Spades is there.
36:22 I often like to put it in a position where it's not too obvious so I know the Ace of
36:27 Spades is there.
36:28 But as long as you know which card that is, that's all you need to know.
36:32 The concept behind the trick is you're going to get people to point to cards that you name.
36:37 So the first person, you look to your left and you say, "So if we're using two spectators
36:42 like we do in the footage," I say, "Okay, I'd like you to point to a card."
36:46 It's important to say, "Point to a card."
36:49 Because if you say, "Okay, which card do you think is the Ace of Spades?"
36:51 They might pick one up.
36:53 And the trick's pointless then.
36:55 Say, "Point to a card that you think could be the Ace of Spades."
36:58 As soon as they point to that card, you pick it up.
37:02 Now don't look at it instantly.
37:04 I pick it up and I address the next person and I say, "Okay, I'd like you to point to
37:10 a card that you think might be the..." and I pause and I just glimpse this card.
37:15 And the next card you're going to name is whatever card you've picked up.
37:19 That's how the one-ahead principle works.
37:20 "I'd like you to point to a card that you think might be the... I don't know, the Seven
37:25 of Clubs."
37:26 Make it as if you're thinking of a random card, just saying, "That's a nice random card."
37:30 And then they point to a card.
37:31 And they've seen this guy do it, so they know the concept.
37:34 They point to that card.
37:36 You pick this up.
37:37 Now an important thing is to obviously when you pick these up, don't let anybody see what
37:39 they are.
37:40 So you pick this next card up and place it on the bottom of this two-card packet.
37:48 Put that to the bottom there.
37:49 And again, don't look at it again.
37:51 I've seen people do this before and they go, "Okay, I want you to think of the..."
37:55 That's going to be...
37:56 It doesn't sell it as well.
37:58 So they've pointed to that card and you say, "Now, my job as the magician is to find the
38:03 Five of Hearts."
38:05 I just glimpse the card.
38:07 I say that my job as the magician is to find...
38:09 And that's the card that they've just picked up or pointed to and I've picked up.
38:13 All you have to do now is pick up the Ace of Spades and I put it to the bottom of the

38:22 And the nice touch here is to say, "So you guys pointed to cards.
38:27 There's no way you could possibly know what they are and yet, what was your..."
38:30 Now there's two ways of doing this.
38:32 Sometimes I like to say, "Now, my card was the Five of Hearts, but I'm the magician.
38:36 I'm supposed to find that."
38:38 And I place it in front of me like so.
38:40 I say, "But what was your card?"
38:43 They say, "The Ace of Spades."
38:44 I place that down on your card, the Seven of Clubs, and I place it like that.
38:48 And what you now have is this very visual thing where later on, especially when they're
38:54 tracking it back, all they remember is you said, "Point to these cards," and they pointed
38:58 to them.
38:59 And also, I like the idea of saying, "Well, I'm the magician.

39:04 Or if you want to, you can do it in sequence and just say, "Okay, what was your card?

41:29 You say, "Point to a card you think might be the Ace of Spades."

41:34 At this point, don't say anything.
41:36 Just say, "Turn it over."
41:39 When they turn that card over and that's the Ace of Spades, it's a miracle.
41:44 Because it is a miracle.
41:45 It's a fluke.
41:46 There's no explanation for it.
41:49 So that's, you know, you don't even have to...
41:52 The great thing about that is you don't touch anything.
41:55 They do it for you.
41:57 But sometimes what else happens, which is what happens in the footage, which is interesting,

42:08 You pick this up and say to the second person, obviously naming the first card, "Point to
42:14 the Five of Hearts."
42:15 Now if they now point to the Ace of Spades, which is the card that you're going to, you
42:20 know, apparently pick up later on.
42:23 If they now point to the Ace of Spades, you're in a position where you've just asked them
42:28 to point to two cards and they've pointed to them.
42:32 Again, it's a miracle.
42:34 There's no explanation for it.
42:35 There's nothing there for them to work out.
42:38 Even if they retrace the steps, there's no explanation for it.
42:41 I mean, that's in some ways even more impressive, it is more impressive, than pointing to one
42:47 card because, hang on a sec, not only did you find your card, but I found my card.

55:05 This is a very self-working trick, but extremely powerful, as I think you'll see from some of the reactions.
55:12 I wanted a funny presentation, and it was when thinking about the fact that it's one of those tricks where the card finds the mate of the other card.
55:20 I thought, "Mate." And I thought of Match.com.
55:23 If you don't know what Match.com is, it's a dating service. I was told about it by a friend of a friend, which you'll find a lot of people say.
55:32 But it's nice because you can go up and say, "Has anyone heard of Match.com?"
55:36 And if they say yes, you can have a little fun with that, the fact that they're lonely and they've put the details on the website.
55:42 Having said that, you can then go on to do a really powerful trick.
55:47 What you need to do with this trick is they can shuffle the cards as much as they like.
55:53 When you take the deck back, you need to look at the bottom card and the top card.
55:57 In this case, it's the 7 of diamonds and the 4 of spades.
56:01 But what you want to do, you want to look at them cards, like spread through and look at the cards like this, so that they don't see the bottom card anyway.
56:09 You need to look for the mate of those cards.
56:12 In this case, we're going to look for the 7 of hearts and the 4 of clubs.
56:17 I spread through and say, "We need to find a couple of cards to use. Let's use the 7 of hearts and the 4 of clubs."
56:24 Just make it sound like it's a random selection.
56:26 Now, what you need to do is remember which card's on the bottom out of the two, so the 7 of diamonds.
56:31 This means you're going to deal down cards and they can say stop whenever they like.
56:36 You say, "Okay, sir." Deal cards into their hand.
56:39 Just say, "Just call out stop whenever you like. I'm dealing down cards."

56:44 When they say stop, say, "Okay, put the 7 of hearts in there like so."

56:50 Now, because you're going to drop the balance of the cards on top, you're now putting the 7 of diamonds directly onto the 7 of hearts.

56:59 Not only that, because you were dealing down cards, the top card, which was the 4 of spades, is now on the bottom and you're ready to do the same thing again.
57:07 You're just going to repeat the effect.
57:09 Just say to the second person, "Okay, let's see if we can find your match."

57:17 That's the great thing.
57:18 Now it's all about presentation.

57:23 Spread through and you say, "You can see there's a card right next to the 7 of hearts there and you can see there's a card right next to your 4 of clubs."
