00:00 Alright guys, welcome to Instinct.
00:16 On this DVD you're going to be learning my solution for the Russian Roulette.
00:19 This is something that I've been doing for about four and a half years now and it's something
00:24 that's served me extremely well.
00:26 When creating Russian Roulette I wanted to do something that was completely impromptu,
00:30 done pretty much anytime, anywhere, and this fits the bill pretty much.
00:34 It's anything I could have hoped for for Russian Roulette.
00:37 So hopefully you guys enjoy.
00:38 What's your name by the way?
00:39 Evan.
00:40 Evan, nice to meet you.
00:41 T-A-T-E.
00:42 T-A-T-E, alright.
00:43 Alright, look, we have a Russian Roulette game.
00:44 We're going to play a game called "The Russian Roulette Game."
00:45 We're going to take a piece of paper, and we're going to put it on the table.
01:07 You want to stick with that one or change it?
01:16 No, it's fine.
01:17 Alright.
01:18 I'm going to take the nail, just put it into that cup.
01:19 This way you can move it around without it falling out.
01:20 So I'll turn around, I want you to just mix them up as much as you want and then just
01:23 make sure they're about this far apart.
01:26 So I'll turn around, just let me know when you're done.
01:37 Alright.
01:38 And do you know which one has the nail under it?
01:39 Do you keep track of it yet?
01:40 Okay.
01:41 Alright, just think about it, you got it right.
01:42 And of course, under this one.
01:43 You can look at it and make sure everything is still in place.
01:44 Alright, so I'm going to take this one, and I'm going to put it under this one.
01:45 And I'm going to put it under this one.
01:46 And I'm going to put it under this one.
01:47 And I'm going to put it under this one.
01:48 And I'm going to put it under this one.
01:49 And I'm going to put it under this one.
01:50 And I'm going to put it under this one.
01:51 And I'm going to put it under this one.
01:52 And I'm going to put it under this one.
01:53 And I'm going to put it under this one.
01:54 And I'm going to put it under this one.
02:15 And I'm going to put it under this one.
02:42 Okay.
02:46 Alright, you good?
02:47 They're all set.
02:48 And you know where the nail is?
02:49 Yeah, I got it.
02:50 I got it.
02:51 Okay, just think of it right now.
02:52 You got it right.
02:53 Um, let's see, can I have you just stand on the other side of it?
02:54 Alright, what I want you to do is just pull out your right hand.
02:55 Alright, just, just like this.
02:56 Okay, just think about it.
02:57 Alright.
02:58 Alright, so I'm going to put it under this one.
02:59 And I'm going to put it under this one.
03:00 And I'm going to put it under this one.
03:01 And I'm going to put it under this one.
03:02 And I'm going to put it under this one.
03:03 And I'm going to put it under this one.
03:04 And I'm going to put it under this one.
03:05 And I'm going to put it under this one.
03:31 And I'm going to put it under this one.
03:56 And I'm going to put it under this one.
04:08 Okay guys, so if you go any further in this DVD, just know that you're taking full responsibility
04:14 for everything.
04:15 Alright, so for any harm that may come to you or others while performing this effect.
04:19 Just because it is a safe method, it, you know, anything can happen when performing
04:23 this.
04:24 So just, you know, just take precautions with doing this, alright?
04:29 So by going further, you're taking full responsibility for yourself and others when you're performing
04:32 this effect, alright?
04:33 So be responsible guys.
04:38 Okay guys, so before we actually get into the methodology for instinct, I'm going to
04:44 take you through how to construct the nail piece, alright?
04:46 Because it's very important to keep you guys safe, alright?
04:50 So what you're going to need is a piece of cardboard, alright?
04:53 Just any piece and just cut it to about this size, alright?
04:57 The smaller the piece is, the easier it is to handle while you're cutting, alright?
05:01 You're going to grab a cup, just whatever cups you'd be using during the performance,
05:06 and you're going to cut off this lip, alright?
05:09 When you get the cups, the styrofoam cups, you'll notice there's a lip around it.
05:12 You're going to take the scissors and cut it off, alright?
05:16 So sort of break it there.
05:18 You can usually, because of the way that they're set up, you can just rip it, but let's go.
05:32 Okay, so now that you've got that done, just get rid of these extra pieces.
05:38 Alright, now you're going to need a sharpie or a pen or whatever.
05:43 I use a sharpie just because it's easier to see.
05:46 Alright, so now you're just going to outline the cup with the marker, alright?
05:50 So just hold it down and...
05:53 Alright, so very simple, and now you're just going to cut this out.
06:04 Alright, so now that you've cut out your circle, you're just going to take the marker and just
06:10 draw a dot right in the middle, alright?
06:14 Cut as close to the middle as you can, it doesn't have to be perfect.
06:18 And now you're going to take a nail and you're just going to shove it right through that
06:22 spot, okay?
06:25 Now when performing, you'll obviously have to know that the nail will fit into the cup
06:30 afterwards, so let's get into that now.
06:34 So you want to make sure that the nail is going to fit into the cup afterwards, alright?
06:38 You should be able to tell by eyesight just judging the nail will fit, alright?
06:43 But because you've cut this circle smaller than the actual cup, it's actually going to
06:47 be going in about there.
06:49 So I use about a 2.5 inch nail, it's probably about a 3.5 inch cup or so.
06:56 You should be able to judge by eyesight, it should be pretty simple to see.
07:00 And basically the nail is just going to go right into the bottom, alright?
07:05 And it should fit snugly, so they can move it around now.
07:12 Now this is very important for keeping you safe, alright?
07:15 Because you want to make sure that they can't take it out and move it, alright?
07:19 Once if you've cut it right, you push it in, it'll create like a suction, it'll be pretty
07:23 much impossible to take out.
07:25 So you want to make sure that you get this right because if they change it somehow then,
07:28 you know, it's not good.
07:30 But they won't be able to if you make it right and it's very simple to make it correctly,
07:34 alright?
07:35 So there you go.
07:36 Let's get into the actual method now.
07:38 Now when performing, it doesn't matter what type of cups you use, but as a personal preference,
07:44 these are the ones that I use.
07:45 I use the smaller cups and they're Stop and Shop brands, alright?
07:49 We'll go into why exactly I use these and you'll see, I don't know, I think it's just
07:54 easier to use this method with these cups, alright?
07:56 So let's go.
07:59 Okay guys, so the method to this is very simple.
08:02 Other versions of this effect have involved the magician like nail-nicking the cup or
08:08 just marking it somehow.
08:10 With my version, I didn't want it to be like that.
08:12 I want it to just be straightforward and simple and I think this method accomplishes it.
08:18 I used to use like the nail-nick before and like people, when they're examining the cups,
08:23 they can notice it.
08:24 I mean, you know, your spectators are not stupid as much as most magicians would like
08:27 to think so, you know?
08:30 So I'll actually show you how this works, okay?
08:34 Now the method for this is basically it's inbuilt into the cups already, the markings.
08:40 Like for instance, on this cup over here, on the right-hand side, you can see that there
08:44 is a three-digit number, right?
08:49 And then below it, on these cups, there's a one.
08:51 If you go to the next cup, this one, you can see that there's a two.
08:57 Next one is a three and the last one is a four.
09:01 And so basically that's the general method to it.
09:05 They're marked already.
09:07 It's very, very simple.
09:08 Basically, you lay them out.
09:09 One, two, three, four.
09:10 You have them in order.
09:11 One, two, three, four.
09:12 You know it.
09:13 And that's it.
09:14 You just have to watch which one they point to.
09:15 If they point to the one in the second position, you know it's number two.
09:22 It's very simple.
09:23 You put the nail into the bottom.
09:26 They can move it around and it'll get stuck.
09:27 They mix them all up.
09:28 It doesn't matter where they mix them.
09:30 You turn around, put your hand above each one, look for the number two, and you know
09:35 which one it's under.
09:36 It's extremely, extremely simple.
09:38 And I mean, that's pretty much just the basic gist of it.
09:42 For some people, you won't find the cups with the little one, two, three, four underneath
09:49 it.
09:50 And so for that, you're just going to have to use the three-digit numbers, all right?
09:54 Now, almost all cups have the three-digit numbers or two-digit.
09:59 Like I haven't come across a set of cups that haven't had numbers on the top.
10:04 So if for some reason, like you can't find the Stop and Shop brand, you can just use
10:08 any four cups.
10:09 Just put them down.
10:10 All you have to do is make sure beforehand that all the numbers on top are different,
10:16 all right?
10:17 It's very, very important that you double check, you know, triple check just to make
10:21 sure you're completely safe, all right?
10:23 So you have the cups here.
10:24 They're all set up.
10:26 And now, they're just going to point to one.
10:27 You're going to say, "Do you want to stick with this one or change it?"
10:30 All right?
10:31 And when you say that, you're just going to read whatever number is on top.
10:33 So on this one, it's 984.
10:35 I would just keep repeating 984 in my head over and over.
10:37 Just get that logged into your memory, all right?
10:40 So 984, you take the cup, put it in or you have them put it in if you don't want to touch
10:45 the cups at all.
10:46 Mix them all up.
10:47 You turn around, put your hand above each one and just spot whatever one says 984.
10:53 Just slam your hands down on the other ones.
10:55 You're done.
10:56 You're all set.
10:57 And that's it.
10:58 And it's very, very straightforward.
11:01 Okay, guys.
11:02 So we're going to do an in-studio performance for you now just so you can see how I handle
11:07 everything and just sort of how I get the peak and everything just during the performance,
11:12 all right?
11:13 This is Brian here, the camera guy.
11:14 Yeah, so he's going to be helping me for this.
11:17 All right, so you have the cups set up in one, two, three, four order, all right?
11:21 So you'd go one here, two here, three, four.
11:25 All right, now when performing this, you want to make sure that they're about, I don't know,
11:30 I'd say a good six inches apart, all right?
11:33 This way when you're slamming your hands down on them, it doesn't like, the wind from this
11:37 one doesn't shoot this cup over because it's not as impressive, all right?
11:42 So we have four cups set up.
11:43 I would have you just point to one, all right?
11:48 And I usually give them the choice to change their mind if they want to.
11:50 Would you like to change your mind at all?
11:52 Yeah, I'll pick that one.
11:54 All right.
11:55 That's a jerk.
11:56 All right, so watch.
11:57 We'll take number two, put it, number three, by the way.
12:02 Yeah, try not to mess that up.
12:04 All right, we'll put number three right there, okay?
12:09 So now you have it set up, number three, in the cup, and you're just going to turn away
12:14 while they mix them up, all right?
12:15 So I guess I'll turn away.
12:20 I'll set.
12:24 And it's also important that before you turn away, tell them to keep the same distance
12:32 because again, you know, when you turn around, it's not very impressive.
12:35 You slam it down and it moves over.
12:37 All right, so now you're going to just get your peak.
12:39 For me, I'm looking for the number three, all right?
12:42 So just go one, two, three, four.
12:44 And just while I'm doing that, I'm just looking which one has a three, which I know is this
12:48 one.
12:49 Yeah, all right.
12:51 So once you get it, you're just going to slam your hand down on one, all right?
12:54 So I'll go with, you know, that one, whatever.
12:57 Slam your hand down on it.
12:59 And do these two, come back.
13:01 And you want to build up drama, you know?
13:04 Like if you want to get an awe reaction, you know, you want to do it quick.
13:08 You want to just go like one, two, three, you know?
13:11 And it'll just, rather than build suspense, you're just getting it quick, all right?
13:15 If you want it to get more or less like, you know, they're thinking about it like how in
13:19 the world did they do that?
13:20 You want to go slow, take your time, because obviously your chances of hitting a nail are
13:25 increasing every single time you destroy a cup.
13:26 You know, it's going from one and four to, you know, one and three.
13:30 You just slam your hand down on that one.
13:33 Now this one, you want to really build it up if you're going the slow route, all right?
13:37 So you're just going to want to really just take as much time as you can.
13:41 You know, maybe just take the spectator's hand.
13:45 Maybe if it's a girl, you know, it's a little better.
13:48 Look at that, the hands go right in.
13:50 It's not, you know, I'm not going for that.
13:53 And just go, take your time.
13:54 Usually put your hand over the one.
13:56 Like some people will go over the one with the nail, come up, slam it down on this one.
14:00 And it just sort of gets that shock with the spectators where they're thinking, you know,
14:04 you're about to slam your hand on that.
14:05 I usually do it just, you know, because I think it does get a better reaction.
14:09 So you'll come here and say, "All right, I think it's right."
14:13 Come up and slam it on the last one.
14:16 Get rid of it.
14:17 And now, I mean, everything is perfectly clean.
14:20 Everything is good.
14:21 You can have them try and take the nail out.
14:23 Usually they won't be able to just because, again, the suction and everything.
14:27 So what you're going to do to get the nail out of the cup, you're just going to rip the
14:31 top off, all right?
14:32 You're just going to get your fingers in, squeeze, pop the top off.
14:36 And just be kind of careful if the nail is really sharp and just sort of push it down
14:41 and get it out.
14:42 Let them examine everything.
14:43 They can examine all the cups that were destroyed.
14:45 They can examine this one.
14:47 They won't find anything.
14:48 You know, no one ever notices the numbers.
14:50 Like when you're performing it, you might think, you know, all right, they're going
14:53 to see that.
14:54 It's obvious.
14:55 I've never, ever been caught when performing this effect.
14:57 So hopefully you guys like it and hopefully you guys got a little bit more inside information,
15:03 I guess, on that one, all right?
15:06 Okay, so you guys just saw the explanation for the method.
15:09 And now if for some reason you're not comfortable performing that, I'm going to provide a couple
15:13 of alternate presentations that I've created over the years, all right?
15:18 So it still uses the same thing, four cups, all right?
15:22 But this is much more impromptu.
15:23 Like, you know, if you're just in a bar setting, you know, or you're at a cookout and you don't
15:28 have the nail on you, you can do these, all right?
15:31 One is I'll take like a 10 or 20 out of my wallet, just crumple it up into a wall, okay?
15:40 And now you're going to just say point to a cup.
15:42 So again, they're set up in the one, two, three, four order.
15:45 I'm just going to say point to number two.
15:47 I'm going to drop the 10 in.
15:50 You're going to get some paper towels or napkins or whatever is lying around.
15:54 Just take a bunch.
15:55 I'm just going to crumple it up into a ball as well.
15:59 You're just going to push this in, okay?
16:02 So now it's still the same type deal, you know, like they can move it around.
16:05 It's not going to fall out or anything.
16:07 It's just now you're going to have to be worried about them taking it out and moving it to
16:12 a different cup.
16:13 Just because, you know, with the nail, the way that it's constructed, it won't come out
16:18 whereas this will.
16:19 So now you have it set up.
16:20 They can mix them all up and basically it would be something like, you know, if I can't
16:24 find it, then you can keep the 20.
16:26 So it still has that sort of, you know, risk involved, but it's not, you know, my hand
16:32 or anything.
16:33 So I would put my hand above it.
16:34 I wouldn't slam the cups down.
16:36 I would just, you know, say, "All right, I think it's this one."
16:40 Turn it over, show it, maybe do it a couple times.
16:43 But the more you do it, you know, the more there is a chance of them actually just taking
16:47 it out and switching it because they want to get the 10 or whatever.
16:50 So I'll use that maybe like once or twice and then just, you know, I'll just end it.
16:56 Other thing is you can use a ring.
16:58 You can borrow a ring from a spectator, preferably like an expensive ring because it's funnier.
17:03 You're going to take their ring, same thing.
17:05 You're just going to drop it in.
17:06 You're going to take a bunch of napkins balled up.
17:09 You're just going to push it in to the cup and just pack it in.
17:12 Again, they can move around.
17:13 It won't fall out.
17:15 This time I'll usually have them hold it in between their hands like this, all right?
17:19 And I'll say that the ring has some sort of like emotional connection to them.
17:23 And I'll do like a false muscle reading type of effect where I have like four different
17:27 people holding the cups.
17:28 I'll like hold on to their arm and I'll say, you know, "Think about it."
17:31 And I'll just give a brief description of muscle reading and then go into it and say,
17:35 "All right, it's right here.
17:37 Show it."
17:38 You know, whatever.
17:39 Maybe at the end just do like some sort of false transfer, whatever, just to sort of
17:44 get that little funny reaction of seeing like an expensive ring vanish.
17:48 Whatever.
17:49 Doesn't matter.
17:50 But again, those are just a couple of presentations that you can use.
17:54 And you know, you guys can feel free to come up with your own.
17:56 Hopefully you guys like it.
17:58 Okay, so you guys might have noticed that the paper towels vanished during the last
18:03 shot.
18:04 And I wasn't sure if I was going to put this on here or not, but you know, I figured I
18:07 might as well go all out on this DVD.
18:10 It's something that I've used in my stage show for a while since, probably about a year
18:15 after I created the actual method.
18:19 And it's basically using paper towels as more of like a dramatic point in the actual effect.
18:25 All right?
18:26 Back when like Houdini did like the water torture escape, he always used to have these,
18:31 you know, big guys with axe standing outside of the tank, you know, and it was just, he
18:36 didn't really say anything, but subtly it suggested to the audience, you know, if someone
18:40 was to go wrong, they have the axe to break the glass down.
18:43 All right?
18:44 And so I kind of wanted to put that sort of type of drama into this routine, but you know,
18:51 obviously not on such a large scale.
18:54 So I use these.
18:56 I say, you know, I put them out and I just say, you know, just in case.
19:00 And it doesn't really say much, but obviously they know in their head, if for some reason
19:04 you slam your hand down on a nail, you have these just in case.
19:08 All right?
19:09 So this was something that I've always done.
19:10 I've always just taken them out of the bag.
19:12 It makes, you know, just an extra prop out on stage or, you know, wherever you're performing
19:18 and just take them out.
19:19 And I usually take it out after I've taken out the cups and set up everything and let
19:22 them examine the nail.
19:23 And then I take these out and sometimes it'll get a laugh, you know, but other times people
19:28 will just, you know, they won't say anything, but just subtly it'll convey the idea that
19:32 something could go wrong, even though it's very safe.
19:36 Okay.
19:37 So you saw the effect, you learn the method, you learn the alternate presentations.
19:43 And so if you still, for some reason, either, you know, don't like the alternate presentations
19:48 or you don't feel like performing the effect, then this is a completely different effect
19:53 entirely, but it basically uses the same method.
19:56 All right.
19:57 But now we're using dollar bills.
19:59 All right.
20:00 Now, when I normally do this, this effect is called impulse.
20:04 It's basically a like lying and truth telling routine.
20:09 Like you tell when someone's lying, you tell them someone's the truth.
20:12 All right.
20:13 Or someone's telling the truth.
20:14 Now I normally don't use ones just because they don't fit into the presentation that
20:18 I use, but I usually use a like a five.
20:23 So it's going to be Abraham Lincoln.
20:24 Right.
20:25 And I say, everybody has usually heard the term on a state, right?
20:29 And so it works into the presentation a little bit.
20:30 And you say, you know, which one do you think looks more honest?
20:33 And they'll say, you know, that one, whatever you're going to take a marker.
20:38 I normally don't use a marker, but just so you can see it on camera, I usually use a
20:42 pencil and I'll just say, all right, so we're going to draw a T in his head and his forehead.
20:46 All right.
20:47 And that's going to be, you know, stand for truth, I guess.
20:49 All right.
20:50 And then in the other one, you'll put an L. Okay.
20:53 So that's going to be truth teller, liar.
20:56 All right.
20:58 And now they've made this decision of, you know, who they want to be the truth teller,
21:02 who they want to be the liar.
21:03 You know, you have no choice in the matter for that.
21:07 And so, I mean, everything so far has been completely fair.
21:09 You've borrowed two fives from the spectators.
21:12 You've gone into the presentation about talking about honest Dave, if picked one.
21:15 And now what you're going to do is the same method for the instinct on the cups.
21:20 They have the numbers on the back of the bill, even though most people don't know about them
21:24 because they're very, very small.
21:26 You can see that there's a number like right in this bottom corner over here.
21:31 I'm not sure how well that's going to show up on camera for you guys, but on this one,
21:35 it says 48 and this one, it says 73.
21:40 So 73 on the liar bill and it's 48 on the truth teller bill.
21:46 All right.
21:47 This is the only one you have to remember the truth teller one.
21:48 All right.
21:49 At least for me, that's the one I remember is the truth one.
21:53 And just remember 48.
21:54 That's it.
21:55 You don't have to worry about whatever this number is.
21:56 All right.
21:57 So 48, you have that in your head.
21:58 You're going to have them fold the bills in half and you're going to turn away.
22:03 All right.
22:04 You're going to have to mix them up a little bit and then they're going to choose one.
22:08 All right.
22:09 So right now I have the truth teller bill.
22:11 All right.
22:12 And you would say whatever one you pick, that's the character that you're going to take.
22:16 So if you pick the truth bill, you're going to have to tell me the truth to any question
22:19 that I ask you.
22:20 If you pick the liar bill, you're going to have to lie to me to any question.
22:23 All right.
22:24 So it's basically that typical plot.
22:26 All right.
22:27 So I have the truth teller bill, the liar bill, you just say, leave it face down.
22:31 Okay.
22:32 Or, you know, whatever bill, just say, leave it face down.
22:35 Now what you're going to do is they have this here.
22:38 I would usually have them fold it up and maybe just put it in their pocket or just hold it
22:41 in their fist like this.
22:43 And I'm going to say, would you like to change your mind for this one?
22:45 All right.
22:46 And as I point, I'm just looking at the number.
22:48 So I see 73 here.
22:49 I know that that's not 48.
22:51 You know, simple, logical, I'll tell you that.
22:55 I know it's not 48.
22:56 So I know it's not the truth bill.
22:58 So they have the truth.
22:59 So they're going to tell the truth to whatever question I ask.
23:02 The first question that I usually go with is, you know, I'll just say, tell me your
23:07 or name your father's name.
23:09 All right.
23:10 So they'll say something and you just can either play it by like body language reading.
23:15 You can say, all right, now you look to the left here or whatever.
23:19 You know, you can play it up all you want and just say, so I would assume you're telling
23:22 the truth.
23:23 Yes.
23:24 They'll say yes.
23:25 Turn the bill over.
23:26 And usually I'll bet money at this point.
23:28 Like I'll put down a 20 and I'll say, all right, this time I'm going to up the stakes
23:31 a little bit, you know, and I'm just going to try and test myself.
23:34 And if I get it wrong, you get 20 bucks or whatever you want to do.
23:37 Right.
23:38 So these bills are once again mixed up.
23:42 I'm turned away at this point.
23:43 They take one of the bills, put it up against their chest, whatever.
23:47 They remember it.
23:48 This one, I got a liar bill this time.
23:49 All right.
23:50 So I would be a lie.
23:52 I would lie.
23:53 All right.
23:54 We're magicians.
23:55 We do.
23:56 We do magic.
23:57 So truth bill would be facedown on the table.
23:59 Again, do the same thing.
24:00 I would say, would you like to change your mind?
24:02 You know, whatever.
24:03 This time I see the 48 on the table, so I know truth bill is here.
24:07 They have to be lying to me.
24:08 Now on the second one, I don't have them answer verbally.
24:11 I just have them answer in their head.
24:12 It makes it seem a little bit more psychological.
24:14 All right.
24:15 And I asked him a yes or no question.
24:17 So it'd be usually something about their attire.
24:19 Like I would say, are you wearing a white shirt?
24:22 And I say, just answer in your head.
24:23 Truth.
24:24 I'm not going to tell you.
24:25 Just tell the truth.
24:26 Liar.
24:27 Tell a lie.
24:28 This way you know the answer.
24:29 All right.
24:30 So for this one, I know they're going to lie.
24:32 So I mean, I am wearing a white shirt.
24:35 So if you were to ask me, you know, are you wearing a white shirt in my head?
24:39 I would think no.
24:40 All right.
24:41 So now I know that you're a liar and I also know that you just thought no.
24:44 All right.
24:45 So you're just going to say, you know, again, play up the body language, reading stuff,
24:49 and then you're just going to say, all right, I'm thinking, you know, I'm not 100% sure
24:54 I think you thought no, right?
24:57 And say, which would mean you're a liar.
24:59 Yes.
25:00 So now you're getting two mind reading moments out of that one, you know, that one reveal.
25:04 So it's very simple.
25:06 You don't have to go with this presentation.
25:08 You could just as easily like before I developed the whole Abe Lincoln presentation type thing,
25:13 I went with like three $1 bills and I would just say, you know, I'm going to turn one
25:17 into 100 and then I, you know, I'd say point to one.
25:21 I take out the pencil.
25:22 And I would just draw two zeros like after that one, I'd be like, all right, so this
25:26 is the a hundred and why hold it up like this.
25:28 I would just look at the number that I'd have to mix it up.
25:31 All right.
25:32 And I could turn around and I would be able to point, all right, this is the a hundred
25:35 and show it to them.
25:36 And then I do something like, all right, we'll take one of the bills away.
25:40 So now we have two, I'll say, I want you to just either take the a hundred dollar bill
25:44 or leave it on the table.
25:45 Then you could go into them being greedy or whatever and saying, you know, you took the
25:48 a hundred and chewed.
25:49 Yeah.
25:50 Yada.
25:51 So, you know, you can come up with your own presentations.
25:52 I mean, this is just, you know, the first one, the truth teller and lying presentation
25:57 with the Abe Lincoln whole deal.
25:59 It's strong.
26:00 It's very strong for the spectators.
26:02 But again, you know, feel free to come up with anything that you feel like, you know,
26:06 and I'd love to hear what you guys have to say.
26:08 You can email me at mtricks16@aol.com and I'd love to hear from you guys.
26:13 So there you go.
26:16 All right.
26:17 So I forgot to mention this, but let's say that you get two bills that maybe one is a
26:23 little bit, you know, it's folded a certain way like this.
26:26 All right.
26:27 And where it would be easily discernible from the back that, you know, this bill and this
26:32 bill are different.
26:33 It's obvious, you know.
26:34 So what you're going to do is I would take the bill and just crumple them up.
26:38 All right.
26:39 You're just going to crumple them up into a ball, just both of them.
26:41 All right.
26:42 So that when they're unfolded, they just look completely messed up.
26:46 This way in their minds, you know, you're taking out any way that they could, you know,
26:51 just tell just by looking at it.
26:53 All right.
26:54 So I mean, crumple it up, crumple it up and just have them mix the balls in their hands,
27:00 dump them out onto the table and pick one.
27:01 All right.
27:02 And it's the same thing.
27:03 Just have them unroll both of them.
27:04 All right.
27:05 And just say to put it face down and do the same presentation or the same idea of getting
27:09 the beat again and say, would you like to change your mind?
27:12 And I mean, it goes over well.
27:13 Nobody ever, you know, questions it.
27:15 Also, another suggestion is sometimes people don't have two fives on them.
27:21 So whenever I perform this effect, I always have two fives in my pocket and I've always,
27:26 I always crinkle them up just because, you know, I want to be able to show they are definitely
27:31 normal, ungimmicked, you know, and you just let them examine them and everything should
27:37 go well.
27:38 All right.
27:39 So that's instinct.
27:40 You've seen the effect.
27:41 You've seen impulse.
27:42 You've seen the alternate.
27:43 You've seen the alternate.
27:44 You've seen the impulse.
27:46 You've seen the alternate presentations.
27:47 And again, you know, feel free to call up your own.
27:50 This is, you know, served me well for a very long time and I hope that it, you know, does
27:54 the same for you guys.
27:55 It's a very, very simple effect but, you know, it's very, very hard hitting.
28:01 So again, I'd love to hear from you guys and what you think about the effect and what you
28:04 think about the method.
28:05 And I'd love to hear your own presentation that you guys create with this.
28:08 All right.
28:09 So email me at mtricks16@aol.com and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
28:16 All right.
28:17 See you.
28:19 [Music]
28:26 All right.
28:33 See you.
28:41 [Music]
28:49 [Music]
28:57 [Music]
