The Tour de France 2023 will hold its Grand Départ in the Basque Country, with a first stage in Bilbao on 1st July, and will finish in Paris on 23rd July, on completion of a 3,404-km route that will tackle the difficult slopes of the country’s five mountain ranges. The battle for the Yellow Jersey will witness a decisive and emotional episode on the Puy de Dôme, where a stage finish will be held 35 years after the victory of Denmark’s Johnny Weltz. The return to this legendary climb will be accompanied by the rise in importance of sites that will mark the Tours of the future, such as the Grand Colombier or the Col de la Loze. The sole time-trial on the Tour de France in 2023 will take place over 22 kilometres between Passy and the Combloux ski resort in Haute-Savoie. The sprinters will also have the opportunity to express themselves on finishes in Bordeaux, Limoges, Moulins, before the grand finale on the Champs-Elysées.

00:02 Stage one of the Tour de France, 182 kilometers,
00:07 very rolling road today with a couple of climbs
00:09 into the finishing kilometers of the stage.
00:12 We're now 5K to go.
00:13 Very, very fast, right into left corner,
00:18 under the 3K arch, and again,
00:21 still kind of rolling down really, really fast.
00:25 1.2 to go, left turn, no problems on the turn.
00:30 There we go, start to climb.
00:32 We've had two big kind of S turns
00:37 that'll bring us to the 500 meters to go.
00:39 One long, long, long sweeping right turn.
00:43 The road gets a little bit steeper.
00:45 300 to go.
00:47 Again, you have to be choosing the right line.
00:51 I'd say close to 9%, but coming here,
00:54 kind of slightly still going to the right.
00:57 And then here we are,
00:59 straight line all the way to the finish.
01:01 Here we are, 100 meters to go.
01:06 Beautiful wide road.
01:07 Road doesn't go down, still between that 5% and 7%
01:11 all the way to the finish line.
01:12 You can just spot it there.
01:14 You're gonna have to be very, very fast
01:16 and very strong on the pedals today to get this win.
