Meet the professional gold digger - who hit the jackpot when she discovered gold worth $100k.

Tyler Mahoney, 27, was interested in gold digging from an early age as all of her family work in the industry.

When she turned 18, Tyler moved from Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia - after having "enough" of living in a small town.

But after two years, and multiple jobs including modelling and events management, Tyler realised she missed gold mining and returned home.

She is now a fourth generation gold digger and works alongside her mum, Lecky, 55, dad, Ted, 56, and brother, Reece, 24 - catching everything from gold nuggets to rare gold fetching up to $100k.

Tyler's working hours depend on the weather and season. Throughout summer she can work from 5am to 1pm and throughout winter she can work from 6:30 to 5pm.

The family do get very competitive when it comes to searching for gold, the most expensive piece of gold Tyler has found was an ironstone lode - gold in ironstone - worth $100k.

Tyler, a gold prospector, from Kalgoorlie, Australia said: "I love prospecting because there is no stability to it.

"I could make $0 tomorrow or next week but on the other hand, I could be a millionaire by tomorrow.

"It is so addictive - the possibility that you're going to find that big nugget is really addictive - you get a constant dopamine hit.
