Jovani Furlan is a Brazilian principal dancer at the New York City Ballet who began ballet at 10 years old after being persuaded by his grandmother, who first noticed his love for dance at family barbecues. After he decided to pursue ballet, he immediately enrolled at the Bolshoi Theater School in Brazil, and the rest is history. When Jovani was 17, he competed in the USA International Ballet Competition. Despite being eliminated after the first round, he piqued the interest of Edward Villella and Roma Sosenko who promptly offered Jovani a scholarship at the Miami City Ballet school — he enthusiastically accepted. Now, 10 years later, he is dancing professionally at the New York City Ballet where he performs for captivated audiences and his nearly 100 thousand followers on Instagram. Jovani is 6 feet tall, flexible, and able to perform some of the most intense ballet routines ever choreographed.
