BJP lawmaker and former wrestling federation chief, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, was given interim bail by the Delhi High Court on Tuesday in a molestation case. He appeared before the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi and was granted a two-day interim bail with a bond of Rs 25,000.
Advocate Rajeev Mohan represented Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, while Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava appeared for the Delhi Police during the proceedings. The court has scheduled a hearing for regular bail on Thursday.
The case was initiated based on a chargesheet filed by the Delhi Police on July 7, which led to summons being issued to Vinod Tomar, the former WFI boss, and the suspended WFI assistant secretary.
During the brief hearing, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh expressed his concerns about being subjected to a media trial. He was upset about the chargesheet details being leaked to the media, leading to news sites and newspapers reporting it verbatim.
The next hearing, focusing on the regular bail of both Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and Vinod Tomar, is set for July 20. Until then, they have been granted interim bail.
