00:03 The worlds are so beautiful.
00:07 It's very immersive in these worlds
00:09 that I think you've kind of imagined since you were young.
00:11 Oh, wow.
00:12 Gosh, like every set in this movie is my favorite set.
00:15 I mean, it's serious world building,
00:17 amazing animated set pieces.
00:18 The visuals in this movie, it's the game come to life.
00:23 We worked with love on every aspect
00:26 and every set of that film.
00:28 Brooklyn?
00:29 The most exciting set piece of all,
00:30 because you never know what's going to happen in Brooklyn.
00:32 It was a mix of real Brooklyn and a sort
00:35 of Brooklyn of our imagination.
00:37 Oh, Mario, what are you doing?
00:39 We were definitely thinking about gameplay
00:41 when we were designing the set.
00:43 There's a lot of elements from the original Super Mario
00:45 Brothers game.
00:46 We designed it to be more or less the first level of Mario.
00:49 The run through the construction site to the plumbing job
00:51 is based on side scrollers.
00:53 It even ends with jumping on the pole
00:55 and sliding down next to a little castle.
00:57 So a lot of it was like an homage to the game,
00:59 but in Mario's kind of hometown of Brooklyn.
