DEADPOOL 3 FIRST LOOK Elektra Update New Suit Breakdown

00:07 and there's so much to take away
00:08 from Ryan Reynolds' new costume
00:10 and other visual clues from these images,
00:12 so let's break down the latest updates from Deadpool 3
00:14 and his coming team up with Wolverine and the X-Men.

00:32 This morning, Hugh Jackman finally revealed images
00:34 of himself in his new yellow suit alongside Deadpool.
00:37 Shortly after the film's official account
00:39 released a high-res version of the image,
00:41 and it looks so good.
00:43 Finally, a comic-accurate yellow suit
00:45 that the 2000 X-Men movie mocked.
00:47 - You actually go outside in these?
00:49 - What would you prefer, yellow spandex?
00:52 - Now, we still have not seen Wolverine's mask,
00:54 and this suit has sleeves, and based off
00:56 of how jacked Jackman is getting for this movie,
00:59 you just know Wolverine's gonna get some mockery for this
01:01 and use those adamantium claws to shred these sleeves off.
01:05 Deadpool 3 is currently in the midst of production
01:07 in the UK, a second unit production set
01:09 to take place in Vancouver in Canada.
01:10 Production is moving swiftly, likely due to the threat
01:12 of the actors union going on strike,
01:14 along with the Writers Guild, the negotiation deadline
01:16 for the actors pushed to July 12th.
01:18 But I will remind everyone that Ryan Reynolds
01:20 and his crew shot the first Deadpool film in 2016
01:22 in less than eight weeks, so these guys like to work fast,
01:25 and they'll likely move even faster since,
01:27 due to the writers strike, Ryan Reynolds is not allowed
01:29 to ad-lib or to improvise,
01:30 because that would constitute writing,
01:32 and they may plan to do ADR pickup lines
01:34 for this third movie later,
01:35 after the writers strike comes to an end,
01:37 hopefully with a better deal for the writers,
01:39 and since Deadpool is often masked with his mouth covered,
01:42 audio pickups and punch-ups would be especially easy.
01:44 Now, on Friday, the Hollywood Reporter confirmed
01:47 that Jennifer Garner is returning to play Elektra
01:49 in Deadpool 3, seemingly confirming many
01:52 of the other surprise returns from the Fox Marvel era
01:54 that we have been hearing about.
01:56 In another video recently, I broke down all the rumors
01:58 of the cast in this movie, which may include
02:00 Halle Berry returning as Storm,
02:01 Patrick Stewart returning as Professor X,
02:03 Ben Affleck returning as Daredevil,
02:05 James Marsden, Ian McKellen, Fampke Jansen,
02:07 and others from the Fox Marvel titles in the 2000s,
02:09 Owen Wilson has been spotted in London
02:11 where the movie is shooting,
02:12 and there are even rumors of Channing Tatum
02:14 shooting a cameo as Gambit.
02:16 For now, take all these rumors with a grain of salt,
02:18 but a plot that involves the Time Variance Authority
02:21 from Loki suggests multiple timelines
02:23 and alternate realities, and Marvel moved up
02:25 this movie's release date to May 3rd, 2024,
02:27 while pushing all other movies back.
02:29 So it's increasingly looking like Kevin Feige sees it
02:31 as an essential moneymaker.
02:33 The latest rumors are that Matthew McFadyen
02:34 will be playing the TVA agent named Paradox,
02:37 and that Emma Corrin, confirmed to be playing a villain
02:39 in this movie, will be a TVA judge
02:41 with a rank and role similar to Justice Renslayer.
02:44 With Loki season two coming to Disney+ this October,
02:46 and a trailer likely to drop any day now,
02:48 there's a good chance we meet these characters
02:50 in Loki season two.
02:51 But when you look at these set photos,
02:52 the first thing that jumps out is a more vibrant color
02:55 of Ryan Reynolds' new Deadpool suit.
02:57 The 2016 and 2018 film, by comparison,
02:59 heavily desaturated Deadpool for a dustier, dirtier look,
03:02 befitting his rebellious nature and his R-rated humor.

04:01 Who knows what it will look like in the trailer footage
04:03 and in the final film after it's gone through coloring.
04:05 And to be clear, Dopender actor Karen Sonee
04:07 has been shooting his scenes,
04:08 and he confirmed Deadpool 3's humor and violence
04:11 haven't been toned down at all,
04:13 and that this third film will still be very much R-rated.
04:15 But it is possible that this new suit
04:17 has pumped up its vibrance and saturation
04:19 to make it look especially good on screen
04:21 opposite from a yellow suit,
04:23 furthering the speculation that Wolverine in this movie
04:25 will suit up in his classic yellow and black suit
04:27 like the one that we've seen
04:28 in those Wolverine 3 teaser photos
04:30 that never ended up getting used.
04:31 This prop was created by James Mangold
04:33 and shot for a deleted scene for the 2013 The Wolverine.
04:36 As a bit of fan service in case the studio
04:38 wanted to suit up Wolverine that way for the next film,
04:40 this was long before Mangold refocused that next film
04:43 into the 2017 Logan film,
04:45 which was, of course, a somber Western
04:46 in the style of Unforgiven.
04:48 Directors Sean Levy and Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman
04:50 and James Mangold have all suggested that Deadpool 3
04:52 will not touch the events of the 2017 Logan film
04:55 or change Logan's death in that film at all,
04:57 but we will see what that promise means exactly.
05:00 Like, Deadpool 3 could visit an alternate timeline
05:02 death of Wolverine set in a similar setting
05:04 as a different Wolverine is helping some kids
05:06 rush across the Canadian border
05:08 to deliver them to the members of the Alpha Flight
05:09 or something like that.
05:10 I bring it up because these set photos
05:12 depict a scene in a woodland setting
05:14 with a forest floor similar to that final battle in Logan,
05:17 and there have been unconfirmed reports
05:19 of a chase scene with Deadpool
05:20 and multiple TVA agents in the forest.
05:22 There have also been unconfirmed rumors and theories
05:24 that this movie will take place
05:25 in an alternate House of M-style universe
05:28 with Elizabeth Olsen coming back as the Scarlet Witch
05:30 and Mutant Kind led by a victorious Ian McKellen Magneto
05:33 and Wolverine leading a mutant resistance group.
05:36 We'll see, but it could be one of many Fox Marvel timelines
05:39 that we see in Deadpool 3.
05:40 Other than the vibrancy,
05:41 the suit does look mostly the same,
05:43 especially in the shots where Reynolds
05:44 is wearing his utility belt,
05:46 like the fabric is less segmented,
05:47 less marred by cuts and bullet holes,
05:49 but it has the same black shoulder pads and straps.
05:51 One difference is that rather than the black buckles
05:53 on the straps, there are hints of brass clips
05:56 matching the gold color now on his gloves.
05:58 Many are also focusing on the mystery figure
06:00 sitting in the backseat of this van
06:01 with an unusual red helmet and mask.
06:03 Before you jump to any conclusions
06:05 that this is a Magneto helmet or a Scarlet Witch headgear,
06:07 I think this is just the Deadpool mask
06:09 with the eyepieces removed,
06:10 and this may be Ryan Reynolds' stunt double.
06:12 While they have a practical version of the Deadpool mask
06:14 with the black eyepieces and the white eyes,
06:16 for closeups, they often do subtle VFX
06:18 on Deadpool's eyes to animate them
06:19 so that they're more emotive,
06:20 kind of like a Bugs Bunny-style cartoon.
06:22 But I wanna know from you,
06:23 would you like to see Deadpool in Deadpool 3
06:25 revisit the alternate timeline events
06:27 of the ending of Logan,
06:28 but with Wolverine in an alternate yellow suit,
06:30 or should Deadpool steer clear
06:32 of any version of that final battle because it is sacred?
