00:00 A quarter of a million people with valid passports may not be able to go on holiday this summer
00:05 because of EU rules. Most passports last 10 years, but extra months may be added to the
00:11 expiry date if you renewed your passport before your previous one expired.
00:16 Before Brexit, you could still travel to the EU if your passport was 10 years and 9 months,
00:21 as long as it was valid. But now you'll be turned away.
00:26 According to Co-op Insurance, there are more than 250,000 people in this situation. They've
00:31 warned people to check their date of issue before travel to make sure they don't miss
00:36 out. Passports can be renewed for a cost of £82.50 or via a paper form at the post office
00:43 for £93. If you need a one-week fast track, it'll cost £155 for adults and £126 for
00:51 children.
