00:02 - My name is Isidro de la Calpatinio.
00:05 Most people call me Isi.
00:06 I'm from Spain.
00:08 I lived in China for 17 years and six years in Sanya.
00:13 And now I'm a foreign mediator in the Sanya civil court.
00:18 Now, my main job here is to do some translation work.
00:23 And also as a mediator,
00:26 is to intermediate between foreigners
00:31 and the Chinese parties in some cases.
00:35 To have a foreign person here,
00:46 it might help to some people
00:48 that feel maybe a little bit defenseless
00:51 by not knowing how the Chinese law works.
00:56 Just being able to express themselves
01:00 in Spanish or in English,
01:04 it will make them feel more comfortable.
01:06 So yeah, I think that's a little bit of help
01:11 through the mediation process for foreigners.

01:19 I think this kind of a mechanism
01:32 of inviting foreign mediators,
01:35 it also show our judicial confidence
01:41 and judicial inclusiveness and judicial openness.
01:45 It's also a good way to help the court
01:53 to quickly and fairly to settle the disputes.
01:58 Most important, fairness and justice to everyone.
