00:00:52 On top of that, we had a record snowfall.
00:00:56 I lost my job in early January and things were very tense at home between Rita and me.
00:01:03 I accidentally happened on an Eddie Ray fan club website where I met Sam, Dan, and Jane.
00:01:08 They were all younger than me, but we all shared a love for Eddie Ray
00:01:12 and the influence he had on that generation, my parents' generation.
00:01:19 It was late May when we made the decision to visit Fairview, Indiana, Eddie Ray's hometown.
00:01:24 We would all meet up in Indianapolis and then drive up to Fairview, spend a couple of days there.
00:01:30 I would drive in from Cincinnati and the rest of the group would fly to Indianapolis.
00:01:36 Four different people embarking on a journey in search of answers.
00:01:42 There was Sam, who was trying to find himself.

00:09:13 50 years ago, a young man from Fairview, Indiana, left the comforts of home to follow his dream and head for Hollywood, seeking fame and fortune.
00:09:21 Little did he realize that his life would be cut short by a tragic motorcycle accident, just as he was obtaining a measure of the admiration he was seeking.
00:09:30 Or that he would be credited with influencing young teenagers worldwide in the baby boomer pop culture scene for the next half century.
00:09:38 Let's look at one of the most recognized and revered scenes from the history of the cinema from "Rebel Without a Reason."

00:12:53 Anyway, this part of town was a lot different then.

00:14:09 >> My wife loved Eddie Ray.
00:14:11 She was very Western in some ways,
00:14:14 but it wasn't until she was killed that I started watching his movies.

00:25:49 But we've been open since '49, except for that time after them kids were killed.
00:25:53 My dad felt real bad about the accident, so he closed earlier that year.
