The Forgotten knock of Yuvraj Singh #euphoriacricket

Yuvraj Singh's outstanding performance during the 2007 WT20 remains one of the most significant highlights of the tournament. While his achievement of hitting the fastest fifty and six sixes against England garnered much attention, his knock in the semi-final was equally special, if not more.

Australia, having won the 50-over World Cup just five months prior, were the favourites for this semi-final, and they were on a winning spree in almost every tournament they participated in. India's chances of winning the semi-final seemed quite low. India was batting first and they had a slightly sluggish start, losing both openers by the 8th over with the score at 41-2.

Then, Yuvraj Singh stepped in, Stuart Clark greeted him with a short delivery outside off stump. However, Yuvi meant business and showed no restraint as he pulled the next ball for a six. Continuing his excellent form from the England game, he started smashing bowlers all around the field. He even smashed a massive 119-meter six off Brett Lee, the longest of the entire tournament.

During his partnership with Uthappa, they added 84 runs, putting India in a good position. Yuvraj played a blistering innings, scoring 70 off just 30 balls, which included 5 fours and 5 sixes, before getting out in the 18th over. India ended their innings with a score of 188-5 in 20 overs.

Thanks to Sreesanth's exceptional bowling, who bowled a maiden, gave away only 12 runs, and took 2 wickets in his allotted 4 overs, India managed to restrict Australia to 173-7.

It was during this match that MS Dhoni famously taunted Ravi Shastri in the post-match conference over an article he had written on Cricinfo a day before, where he had picked Australia as the favourites. India went on to lift the trophy, defeating Pakistan by 5 runs in the finals at Johannesburg.
