00:02 Lana Del Rey's life really is sweet like cinnamon
00:08 and waffles.
00:09 The Summertime Sadness singer surprised patrons
00:11 at a Waffle House restaurant in Florence, Alabama this week
00:14 by moonlighting as a waitress.
00:15 Lana got her own Waffle House uniform
00:17 and a personalized name tag.
00:19 She appeared to get along great with customers
00:21 and even sang Amazing Grace with one.

00:28 LaShawn D. Tuttle was one of the Waffle House employees
00:44 working that day and documented Lana hard at work.
00:47 The server shared photos with the music superstar
00:48 on Facebook and wrote,
00:50 "Had so much fun with Lana Del Rey.
00:51 She is so humble, funny, and such a good sport."
00:54 Waffle House patron Macy Ladner also met Lana
00:56 at the restaurant and posed for a photo with her,
00:58 writing on Facebook,
00:59 "Casual day in Florence meeting Lana Del Rey."
01:02 The Waffle House employees gave her a uniform and name tag.
01:05 Macy told local outlet al.com of the encounter,
01:08 "It was great.
01:08 She was so down to earth and real with us.
01:10 Talk with me and my friend about our jobs as teachers,
01:12 about how she's working on a new recording."
01:14 Another patron, Karina Cisneros Juarez, told al.com,
01:18 "She was there wearing a uniform and everything.
01:20 It was a bit surreal.
01:21 Just told her how much I loved her music
01:23 and her work in general.
01:24 She was super lovely and incredibly nice."
01:26 It's not yet clear why Lana stepped in as a server,
01:29 but it's clear her surprise appearance was a total hit.
01:31 Earlier this year, the singer-songwriter
01:33 released her ninth studio album called,
01:35 "Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard?"
01:37 And this summer, she's been performing in music festivals
01:40 across Europe and North and South America.
01:42 Access Hollywood last caught up with Lana
01:44 at the 2020 Grammy Awards,
01:45 where she spoke to us about her red carpet fashion,
01:47 her candid songwriting style,
01:49 and her then forthcoming spoken word album,
01:51 "Violet Bend Backwards Over the Grass."
01:53 - Your style is just, what word can I use?
01:56 It's exquisite, it is extraordinary, it is all you.
02:01 How do you decide when you come out the house?
02:04 - For something like this, I usually have a lot of options.
02:07 I didn't know up until the minute what I was gonna wear,
02:10 but this was the comfiest, so yeah.
02:13 - You put out records and material
02:17 that mean something to so many people.
02:21 When you listen to the words that you're putting out there,
02:23 and I know you're such a true artist, you're really in it,
02:26 and you live it, of what you're saying.
02:29 Knowing that you're still getting these nominations,
02:31 you're still gonna keep doing your music,
02:32 you're gonna be you always and be authentic,
02:34 how cool does that feel, to have these nominations?
02:37 Everybody wants you, they want more of you.
02:40 - It's a really good feeling.
02:41 I mean, I do think it's the harder road
02:43 to live that heavily documented life
02:47 through your own writing, and it's so worth it.
02:49 It's really interesting to be here
02:51 with so many people who write for different reasons
02:55 and sing for different reasons,
02:56 but for me, just to be able to journal my stories
03:00 through song is really cool.
03:02 - I loved you with ASAP in the video back then,
03:04 when you had, yes, ASAP Rocky, when it was national anthem,
03:07 everything you've done, Blue Jeans, everything.
03:10 Where do we take Lana to the next situation?
03:12 Where do you see yourself going?
03:14 You've done anthems for everything, for movies.
03:17 - I'm actually, I'm doing a spoken word album,
03:19 which is really challenging, 'cause it's poetry,
03:24 essentially, and short storytelling,
03:26 so it's very revealing, so I'm kind of excited
03:31 to start that chapter and start writing longer form stories
03:37 and recording them.
