00:00 Gonzaga fans. Marcus Adams Jr. who recently took a visit to
00:05 Spokane and Gonzaga's campus has committed to Gonzaga. Now,
00:09 this is an interesting and unique commitment in the fact
00:12 that he's a high school player that as soon as most high
00:18 school players as soon as they graduate high school, a week
00:21 or two later, they head to their new destination to be
00:23 able to take some summer classes to be able to practice
00:27 with their new team. He did that. He went to Kansas. He
00:30 realized pretty quickly the Jayhawks weren't a great fit
00:34 for him. There's a few articles talking about you know, that
00:39 being exactly it. It wasn't a good fit for him. He felt he
00:43 felt like something just wasn't right. I believe part of it is
00:46 he wanted to be closer to home. So, when he reopened his
00:50 recruitment, you saw a number of West Coast schools including
00:53 Gonzaga on that list. A lot of people have him possibly pegged
00:57 to go to USC to join Isaiah Collier and Bronnie James under
01:02 coach Andy Enfield but at the end of the day, Gonzaga picks
01:05 up what I think is a really tremendous late addition. Uh
01:09 six eight about 200 pounds. Uh I don't buy into all of the
01:14 four-star, five-star, three-star prospects lists but
01:17 if you look at most of the rankings, he is a four-star so
01:22 he's you're getting a pretty darn good player out of the LA
01:25 area. Uh six eight 200 pounds as mentioned but I think he's
01:30 got a unique skill set. He he's got a chance to play a little
01:33 bit of the three. Uh possibly play a little bit of the four
01:36 when Gonzaga goes small. So, I I think he's gonna add some
01:39 versatility and some pieces to to Gonzaga's offensive attack.
01:45 You know, I also think with Alex Tui, the Australian who
01:49 would have been a freshman as well deciding not to come to
01:52 Gonzaga. This opened up potential minutes that Tui maybe
01:56 would have felt that he was slotted for opening up some
02:01 minutes for Marcus Adams Junior but you know, all in all just
02:05 was announced 15, 20 minutes or so ago. I wanted to share my
02:09 thoughts. I think this is a tremendous get for Gonzaga. It
02:12 shows, you know, the volatility with this transfer portal
02:17 because Kansas was one of the really active teams in the
02:22 portal here in the offseason. They added players such as
02:25 Hunter Dickinson from Michigan. Um you know, but once you get
02:28 all the players on campus, does it fit? Does it work? Uh you
02:33 know, it can, it can backfire at times. I'm not saying it
02:37 backfired for Marcus Adams and Kansas this particular time
02:41 because maybe it is the right move for both and maybe it is a
02:44 positive move for Gonzaga which it seems to be as well as for
02:47 Marcus Adams Junior but II don't think this is the first
02:51 time you're gonna see this happen when a player early on
02:54 gets on campus and realizes uh they need a change. They need
02:57 something different. This wasn't right for them. Um this
03:00 is the one way where I think the transfer uh waiver can be
03:05 good early in a career. Uh my understanding is as well is
03:08 that uh Kansas let him out of the NIL so it will not impact
03:13 his future ability to transfer. I'd have to double
03:16 check on that but that's what I quickly read um before jumping
03:19 on and recording this but good day for Gonzaga fans. Another
03:23 very talented young player is coming to Spokane.
