00:00 Horses are incredibly unique creatures.
00:03 There are around 600 individual breeds of them in the world today,
00:07 and although each horse is beautiful in its own way,
00:10 there are some that really make you stop in your own tracks
00:13 to admire just how gorgeous they are.
00:15 From horses with unbelievable manes,
00:17 to those with feathers on their legs,
00:19 and literally the Kim Kardashian of horses.
00:22 Here are 25 of the most beautiful horses in the world.
00:26 Make sure you stick around for number one
00:28 if you want to see a real-life golden horse.
00:31 These Frisian horses are native to the Netherlands.
00:39 You can easily spot one of these horses in a sea of others
00:42 by looking at their rich, black coat and a thick mane to match.
00:46 But they're not all aesthetics, they're incredibly strong too.
00:50 In medieval times,
00:52 Frisian horses were the ones that carried the kings and all of their belongings.
00:56 They were the carriage horses,
00:58 and even have a major role in the fact that the agriculture in that region
01:02 flourished the way it did.
01:04 What's crazy about this breed of horses
01:06 is that even though there's plenty of them today,
01:08 in the 20th century, they almost went extinct.
01:11 There were literally only three of them left.
01:14 But by the time the Second World War ended,
01:17 the breed had recovered and today,
01:19 thousands of them exist all around the world in all their glory.
01:24 Number 24. Marwari Horse
01:27 The Marwari horse dates back to ancient India,
01:32 specifically Punjab,
01:34 which is located half in Pakistan and half in India now.
01:37 They've got long, thin legs that just so happen to be very strong too.
01:42 But the feature that really sets them apart are their curved ears.
01:46 These horses have incredible hearing
01:49 and can be directed to follow a sound far away.
01:52 These were the horses that the royal families in India used to use,
01:55 and because of the bond they formed with their humans,
01:58 they were treated like part of the family too.
02:00 They even had their own sets of jewelry that they wore every time they were out,
02:04 acting like the cherry on top when it came to their overall beauty.
02:08 Number 23. Lipidsan
02:21 Although the Lipidsan horse is known as the national horse of Slovenia,
02:24 they weren't actually bred there.
02:26 Instead, these horses come from Austria,
02:29 specifically from one stud farm in the 16th century that created them.
02:33 Today, they're the most well-known for being the beautiful light-colored horses
02:38 used by the Spanish riding school of Vienna,
02:40 where they learn how to perform advanced classical dressage.
02:44 They go through intensive training to get there,
02:47 and the results of the training are immaculate.
02:50 Because these horses are very strong, smart, and athletic,
02:53 they also participate in almost every horse event there is.
02:57 But there's one thing about the Lipidsan horse that most people don't really know,
03:01 it's that even though the fully grown ones we see are light in color,
03:05 they're born fully black.
03:07 They slowly age to their light gray to white coloring by the time they become adults.
03:12 Number 22. Arabian Horse
03:18 The Arabian horse breed is one of the oldest breeds to exist today,
03:23 the first one being seen around 3000 BC.
03:27 These beautiful horses have a distinct head shape, which is unlike any other.
03:32 They also have a high tail carriage, making them look very poised and confident too.
03:37 Not only are these horses beautiful on the outside, but on the inside too.
03:42 They're one of the most gentle horse breeds that connects with humans
03:46 and understands commands very well.
03:49 Known to have a major willingness to please,
03:51 makes them a horse that would do anything for its owner.
03:55 Number 21. The Knæfesrøper
04:00 The Knæfesrøper is a beautiful horse breed.
04:05 Their coat closely resembles that of Dalmatian dogs,
04:08 which is pretty unique in itself.
04:10 This horse breed originated in Denmark in the 19th century
04:14 and are incredibly intelligent horses.
04:17 They're so good at learning commands that they're widely used as circus horses
04:21 to perform highly elaborate stunts.
04:23 Their look is so unique that they were the main horses used in all of the Danish royal family ceremonies.
04:30 This is a horse that's truly fit for a king.
04:33 Number 20. The Fjord
04:42 The Fjord horse breed is fairly unique, both in the way it's built and its size.
04:47 They're smaller than most horses, but still bigger than ponies,
04:50 making them look like large ponies.
04:53 They've got incredibly strong and muscular necks,
04:56 and the rest of their bodies follow suit.
04:58 These horses originated in Norway hundreds of years ago
05:02 and are still one of the most popular breeds there.
05:04 Mainly used as farm horses, they're known to be very intelligent
05:08 and can learn patterns and responsibilities very quickly.
05:12 Another unique factor about these horses is that they have done coloring,
05:16 which just gives them an angelic look.
05:19 One that's really special to look at.
05:21 Number 19. The Appaloosa
05:26 The Appaloosa is a horse that you will notice if it passes by you,
05:33 but the beauty of this horse is the fact that each horse is totally unique.
05:38 Known for their spotted pattern,
05:40 these American horses come in all different types of colors and combinations.
05:44 Their pattern is unique to them because it's not in one layer,
05:48 but multiple layers on top of each other,
05:51 each stemming from a different part of its lineage.
05:54 But their coat isn't the only thing that sets them apart.
05:57 They've also got striped hooves.
06:00 They have great footing in mountainous areas,
06:03 but usually tend to perform best in plain, open fields,
06:06 where they're usually found today.
06:08 Number 18. The Brumby
06:12 While most of the horses we've mentioned on this list are specialized breeds,
06:19 the Brumby isn't.
06:21 These are the wild, free-roaming horses that are found in Australia.
06:25 These are horses you see in movies that are roaming across giant plains.
06:29 Just letting their hair down and being free,
06:32 and they look very beautiful as they do it.
06:35 The Brumbies are also very responsive to training
06:38 and are known to be able to form deep bonds with humans too,
06:42 and are widely used as animals that work with troubled children.
06:46 They're beautiful and good at heart.
06:48 Number 17. The Oldenburg
06:57 These horses were first bred in the 17th century in Germany
07:00 and have been dominating the horse game ever since.
07:03 The thing that makes these horses the most special is their demeanor.
07:07 They're also known as the most well-behaved horses that have ever existed.
07:12 They have an incredibly pleasing personality.
07:15 They strive to make their owners happy,
07:18 and they do it with impeccable style.
07:21 They're high jumpers, powerfully built,
07:23 light on their feet, with thick bones and very high stamina.
07:26 These horses could jump around for hours and not get tired.
07:30 Number 16. Shetland Pony
07:40 The first thought that everyone has when they see a Shetland Pony
07:47 is just how cute they are.
07:49 That we can all agree on,
07:52 and have beautiful, thick, deep coats and a lighter, flowy mane.
07:56 To add to the overall cute factor,
07:59 they've also got short, alert ears and wide-set eyes.
08:03 But don't let their looks deceive you.
08:05 They're also incredibly intelligent, gentle, and good-tempered.
08:09 They're so smart around people that they're great with very small children too.
08:14 Which is also why we often see these ponies working in commercial settings
08:18 like fairs and other events.
08:20 Number 15. Falabella
08:22 The Falabella is a miniature horse that looks like it's not even real.
08:35 At their tallest, they stand at only 32 inches tall,
08:39 but they generally grow to 28 to 30 inches.
08:42 Their small size may seem like they're untrainable little animals,
08:46 but that's far from the truth.
08:48 They're actually highly intelligent and take to humans very well.
08:52 They're very loyal and affectionate, and that makes them very easy to train.
08:57 And seeing them fully trained, jumping over obstacles,
09:00 is an incredible sight to see indeed.
09:03 Number 14. Yakut Horse
09:17 Even though the common horses are seen in lush green fields,
09:20 the Yakut horse proves that horses can be anywhere and still thrive.
09:25 The Yakut horse is an arctic horse and has a heavy coat
09:29 and equally thick mane to help them stay warm in the harsh weather.
09:33 They look a lot similar to the Shetland ponies, but they're fluffier.
09:37 They have an incredibly docile personality and are very willing to learn.
09:41 Which makes them great horses to use around farms and under saddle and in carriages.
09:46 No matter what these horses are doing,
09:48 they make the scene look like it's out of a fairy tale.
09:51 Number 13. The Spanish Norman
09:55 While most horses are either bred to work at farms or provide transport,
10:02 the Spanish Norman has a very specific reason for existing,
10:06 because of how good it is at sports.
10:09 This is an incredibly agile horse and can kind of do anything they put their mind to,
10:14 whether it's jumping through elaborate obstacles or performing any other type of agility tricks,
10:19 they can do it all with insanely impressive poise.
10:23 Number 12. The Catria
10:28 Even though the Catria is mainly found in the Monte Catria in the Marche region of Italy,
10:36 no one really knows where they originated from,
10:39 but it's commonly thought that they're from somewhere in North Africa.
10:43 These horses have very strong builds and because most of them are still found in the wild,
10:48 that strength comes in handy.
10:50 They spend most of their time frolicking around in the wild,
10:53 and that's what they're the most well-known for,
10:55 being beautiful horses that really represent being free.
10:59 Number 11. The Comtois
11:03 When you think of strong, majestic horses,
11:09 the Comtois is the horse that comes to mind.
11:12 These thick boys are one of the strongest horses in the world,
11:16 and they look like it too.
11:18 Their thick bones and muscular build helps them look fabulous while they're at work,
11:22 and they've always looked like that.
11:25 Literally, these horses are ancient.
11:28 They were first brought to France by the Germanic Burgundian tribe in the 4th century
11:32 and have been used ever since to hold the heaviest of cargo,
11:35 like artillery supplies for the militaries of the different times.
11:39 Today, they're still used as the key horses to carry heavy cargo,
11:43 and they still manage to look amazing while they lug everything around.
11:47 "Eagle?"
11:49 "You're so loud!"
11:55 Number 10. The Morgan
11:58 While some horses are great because of the way they're built,
12:04 others are special because of the way they are, like Morgan's.
12:08 Their lean bodies and regal posture sets them apart from most other horses,
12:13 but they also have one distinct quality.
12:16 They imprint on their humans.
12:18 Morgans are the type of horses that pick their humans,
12:20 and once they do, they'll do anything for them.
12:23 They have an eagerness to please humans,
12:26 and that combined with their overall look
12:28 makes them one of the most popular horses that have ever existed.
12:32 Number 9. The Minorquin
12:38 The Minorquin horse comes from Menorca, Spain,
12:42 and is a horse that you might have seen even if you're not a major horse person.
12:47 These horses are usually associated with the riding style called "ma minorquina,"
12:52 also known as "Minorcan dressage."
12:54 Their specific build allows them to have a lot of added suspension,
12:59 so the rider barely feels like they're on a horse.
13:02 These horses only come in a variation of all-black everything,
13:06 so they pretty much look like glistening shadows galloping on the ground.
13:10 A smooth horse, both in terms of its look and the ride.
13:14 Number 8. The Shire
13:20 When it comes to massive horses,
13:25 the Shire is the largest breed of horses that has ever been.
13:29 They stand at 173 cm tall and can weigh up to 2,000 pounds.
13:35 They've got what we call a "coarse build."
13:38 The hair on their legs is also different from that of most of the other horses.
13:43 It's so different that it's literally called "feathers."
13:46 The feathers kind of cover their hooves and add to a very unique look,
13:51 one that almost no other horse has.
13:54 Number 7. The Hanoverian
14:03 The Hanoverian horses are inarguably one of the most sleek
14:07 and beautiful horse breeds that ever exist around the world.
14:10 Their powerful muscular bodies are covered with a gorgeous shiny coat,
14:14 and their legs allow them to be one of the most agile horses that have ever existed.
14:19 They used to be carriage horses in the past,
14:22 but now are general riding horses instead.
14:25 They're known as bold, sensible horses that are incredibly disciplined,
14:30 making them a great horse to ride.
14:33 Number 6. A Dutch Warmblood
14:38 The Dutch Warmblood is a fairly new breed of horses.
14:44 They're a mix of the Gelderlander and the Groningen,
14:47 and the breeders that made these made them to create the perfect horse.
14:51 The Dutch Warmblood inherited the characteristics of both the breeds
14:55 and ended up being very athletic horses.
14:58 They have great, sloping shoulders with long legs
15:01 that let them achieve longer strides than most horses,
15:04 and their long necks and confident posture
15:07 just makes them look like the perfect horse they were bred to be.
15:11 Number 5. The Mustang
15:15 The Mustang horses are one of a kind.
15:21 Their name literally translates to "wild, masterless cattle"
15:25 because the first of these horses escaped into the wild and multiplied,
15:29 and today they roam freely across the grasslands of the U.S.,
15:32 being free and fabulous.
15:34 If you want to look at horses in their rawest form,
15:37 these are the ones for you.
15:39 Watching them gallop across the fields is so satisfying
15:42 that there are actual helicopter tours
15:44 that overlook the horses in their natural habitat.
15:47 Number 4. The Andalusian
15:53 The Andalusian is a Spanish horse dating back to the 15th century.
15:58 Its breeding has been so limited and controlled
16:01 that the horses today look exactly like they did back in the 15th century.
16:06 These horses are strong with long, lean legs,
16:09 but that's not what makes them so special.
16:12 Their specialty is their thick, beautiful mane.
16:15 Their mane is usually wavy or curly,
16:18 which just adds to the whole dramatic look too,
16:21 and also makes them one of the most sought-after horses for film and TV.
16:26 Number 3. The Haflinger
16:31 The Haflinger is a horse breed that originates from the mountainous area of Haflinger,
16:38 right between Austria and northern Italy.
16:41 Most people admire these horses for their gorgeous, chestnut coat and airy mane,
16:46 but their beauty isn't all on the surface.
16:49 They were originally bred to be the type of horse
16:51 that could balance forestry and agriculture in the best way possible,
16:56 and it's proven to do just that.
16:58 They're also horses to drive and ride,
17:00 and have very strong hooves and footing,
17:03 which made them the perfect candidate to serve in the Austrian army.
17:07 But they're not all muscles.
17:09 They're also known to be gentle giants,
17:12 and even take part in assisted therapy
17:14 because they're so calm, gentle, and thoughtful.
17:18 Number 2. The Gypsy
17:21 The Gypsy horses are massive, strong horses
17:27 that can jump incredibly high and perform all types of stunts,
17:31 and they do it while whipping their amazingly thick, smooth, and shiny mane around.
17:37 But that's not all.
17:39 They also have feathers on all four of their legs,
17:41 just adding to the flowiness of these horses overall.
17:45 Although they look like scary horses that are probably too proud of the way they look,
17:49 they're actually very gentle and great with kids,
17:52 beautiful on the outside and in.
17:55 Number 1. Aja Teke
18:00 The Aja Teke may be a horse you've seen before on the internet
18:07 on forums of people wondering about how a horse can be this shiny.
18:12 But that's just thanks to their coat,
18:14 where most hair shafts are opaque,
18:16 the Aja Teke's hair shafts have a transparent medulla,
18:20 which makes them glisten in the sun.
18:22 Even though they come in several colors,
18:24 the most popular one is white gold.
18:27 These horses hail from Turkmenistan
18:29 and rarely exist outside of the country.
18:32 Their beautiful coloring, coats, and menaces,
18:34 paired with the fact that these are strong horses
18:37 that can ride for hundreds of miles without a problem.
18:40 Alright, comment below which of these horses you think is the most beautiful horse in the world.
