00:00 This is Verity Rayner who lives in St Anne's with her mum Lily, dad Daniel and older sister Felicity.
00:06 Despite being a happy toddler most of the time, Verity is sadly very ill. She was diagnosed
00:26 with a brain tumour in September 2021 when she was just one year old and has been bravely
00:32 undergoing chemotherapy ever since.
00:35 The chemo makes Verity nauseous and tired at times and due to her weak immune system,
00:51 Verity is unable to go to nursery, meaning the family have had to try and balance child care
00:56 alongside work.
00:57 Verity's mum Lily even had to quit her previous job to find one more flexible so she could work
01:16 around her daughter's needs. Although Verity has remained positive and strong throughout,
01:21 Lily says that the past two years have been the worst in their lives.
01:25 Ready, Vivu catch it. One, two, three, catch. You're not looking.
01:34 Family friend Ryan Smith wants to help them out by raising funds for a charity football
01:39 match on Friday July 28th. All the money raised will go towards providing a holiday for the
01:44 family when Verity feels better.
01:46 Thank you big boy. My next match is a big football match.
01:54 Hi everyone, this is just a short message to let you all know about the charity match we're
01:58 having on the new football pitch on Common Edge Village this Friday evening. We've got
02:04 a fundraiser starting at the South Shore Cricket Club, that's from six o'clock onwards and when
02:08 the match kicks off at 7.30 on Common Edge we'll have all sorts down at the club, there's
02:15 drinks, there's food, we'll have some entertainment. We've got a bouncy castle outside for the
02:20 kids and a bouncy slide as well so there's plenty for them to do, hopefully the weather
02:25 stays bright. We're doing all this for me and Ryan, for our good friends the Raiders,
02:30 this is for little Verity who as you all know now is having an ophthalmologist brain tumour.
02:35 So we're doing this to raise awareness for that and to support the family and hopefully
02:41 it will be aimed at sending them all on a dream holiday at the end. Also at the club
02:46 there'll be a raffle on and things like that where you can all win some prizes. It should
02:51 be a great night, we hope to see you all there, we look forward to your support and to show
02:55 the Raiders that you're there to support them as well. I hope you enjoy the night, see you soon.
02:59 Thank you, thank you very much.
