00:00 LeBron James's son, Ronnie, suffered a cardiac arrest during a basketball workout at USC on Monday.
00:06 The 18-year-old was rushed to the hospital where he was treated in the ICU before being released to general care.
00:13 A spokesperson for the James family told Access Hollywood,
00:16 "Yesterday while practicing, Ronnie James suffered a cardiac arrest.
00:21 Medical staff was able to treat Ronnie and take him to the hospital.
00:25 He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU.
00:28 We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information."
00:34 A spokesperson for the family shared,
00:36 "LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff
00:42 for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.
00:47 Ronnie recently committed to the University of Southern California to play basketball
00:51 and is expected to follow in his dad's NBA footsteps.
00:54 LeBron has said in the past that he won't retire from the NBA until he gets to play with his son.
01:00 Access Hollywood recently chatted with some of LeBron's lifelong friends
01:04 and they all reacted to rumors of his retirement.
01:07 LeBron retiring, never gonna happen, right?
01:10 Not now. In my opinion. In my opinion, I don't think he's retiring this year.
01:16 Shion?
01:16 You know what?
01:19 I hate to say this and I hope not, but I think it is really on his mind.
01:24 And I think he's really doing some soul searching.
01:27 He's been giving so much to this game for so long
01:30 and I never thought I'd see the day where it's happening.
01:33 He's been playing at such a high level for so long,
01:37 but I think he is really considering, you know, maybe in the next, who knows?
01:43 I think he is thinking about it.
01:44 Well, he's certainly left it all on the court.
01:46 Yeah, I mean, I guess that's part of the circle coming full circle, however you want to say that.
01:53 But just even considering and having a conversation, man,
01:57 he's been a part of basketball for so long, you know what I mean?
02:01 It's hard to think, you know, we will ever turn the TV on
02:03 and he not be a part of a commercial or coming on the primetime game or something like that.
02:09 It's just been a part of our life for so long, but you got to do what's best for you.
02:14 Any thoughts?
02:14 He's considering it. Do I think it's going to happen this year? No.
02:18 But when you get this far in your career, it's a natural occurrence, right?
02:25 You know, he knows that he can only play for so long.
02:29 So now you start thinking about when that time is and it's hard to keep up greatness.
02:37 It's hard to do it day in, day out.
02:39 And, you know, those are some of the things you start thinking about.
02:43 Do I really want to keep waking up at 5 and get all these workouts in
02:48 and all the rehab and everything that I need to do to just get ready to play?
02:53 I injure myself sleeping these days, so he's doing really well.
02:57 Will he talk to your dad before he makes any big decisions?
03:00 Good question. I'm not sure. I'm not sure who he's going to lean on.
03:07 I think it's going to be a very personal decision for him.
03:10 I think he's going to know what he truly wants,
03:13 and I believe that's going to be between him and his family more than anything.
03:18 Well, I can say this is a winning thing.
03:20 This friendship is what matters in life, and I think it means more to LeBron and everybody.
03:26 What a great thing that you guys have together.
03:28 I hope all our kids get this.
