00:02 - Cubs Cardinals is next year,
00:07 and this is now a red hot Chicago Cubs team.
00:11 That's won five in a row,
00:12 and they're a road favorite here against St. Louis.
00:15 The total is a nine.
00:17 The Cubs, Donnie, are 50 and 51,
00:20 trying to gain ground in this central,
00:23 all the while Cody Bellinger is one of the hottest names
00:28 on the market as the deadline approaches.
00:31 - And let's talk about hot, Kevin.
00:33 Look at this.
00:33 We're not in Chicago, we're in St. Louis,
00:35 in the heartland of the US.
00:37 97 degrees at first pitch.
00:40 Ooh, what time they start, Donnie?
00:41 One o'clock in the afternoon, gonna be a hot one.
00:43 No, no, no, no, no.
00:44 This starts at 745 in the evening.
00:47 It's expected to be 97 degrees
00:50 with a wind blowing out to left field.
00:51 So keep that in mind.
00:53 The pitchers on the mound, also red hot,
00:54 particularly from a Chicago Cubs perspective.
00:56 Steele has been very good all season long, Kevin.
00:59 Now here's the interesting part.
01:00 Take a look at this.
01:01 He's a left-handed pitcher.
01:03 90 batters he's faced from the right side
01:05 over the past 30 days.
01:06 An 059 ISO and a 288 weighted on base percentage.
01:09 That is sensational.
01:11 From about 20 batters he's faced from the left-hand side,
01:14 a 412 ISO and a 426 weighted on base percentage.
01:18 So you say, hey, let's knock these trends down.
01:20 Let's get some left-handed batters
01:21 in the lineup against Steele.
01:23 I'm looking at the lineup that's anticipated today
01:26 for those St. Louis Cardinals.
01:27 One lefty in the lineup, all right-handed batters.
01:29 That feeds right into Justin Steele.
01:31 Let's take a look at the opposite side.
01:33 Myles Michaelis will be on the mound.
01:34 He's having a decent last 30 days, Kevin.
01:36 A 124 ISO power number against
01:38 and a 292 weighted on base percentage.
01:41 But I think if we're bringing up the player here
01:43 that you do want to watch, which includes,
01:44 had an RBI two nights ago, home run late last night.
01:47 It's Cody Bellinger ripping the cover off the baseball
01:51 against right-handed pitchers.
01:53 One of those guys that's going to be right in the middle
01:54 of that lineup, he'll probably do damage.
01:56 So maybe an RBI prop play on Bellinger just makes sense
02:00 to ride that hot bat, which he has been sensational.
02:03 And yes, a trade piece, maybe just hold onto him
02:05 at this point, if you're the Cubs.
