00:00 Hi!
00:01 Good evening!
00:02 How's it going?
00:03 How are you?
00:04 Oh, I'm very nervous.
00:05 Of course.
00:06 Who are you?
00:07 What is your name?
00:08 My name is Kylie Fry and I am 28 years old and I'm from Opelousas, Louisiana.
00:13 Wow!
00:14 Kylie, tell us a little bit about yourself.
00:19 I'm from a big rodeo family.
00:21 I was a rodeo queen.
00:22 I started singing the national anthem for every rodeo that I showed up to because I just love to sing.
00:29 Have you always wanted to be on AGT?
00:32 Simon, I grew up watching you on the show and I had birthday parties and I impersonated you.
00:38 I had all my friends come over and I was Simon.
00:41 Can you do Simon now?
00:43 Oh, no!
00:46 Let's see.
00:48 That was terrible.
00:53 That was terrible.
00:56 But I still like it.
00:58 It means the world to be here in front of you.
01:01 Okay, well, wish you good luck.
01:03 Thank you.
01:06 I bet she was always called Kylie Fry.
01:16 So I wrote this song for my grandpa.
01:18 He always told me if I sang the national anthem for every rodeo that I showed up to, that one day,
01:23 someone would ask me to sing the national anthem at the NFR, which is the Super Bowl of Rodeo,
01:28 and that's how I was going to get my start because that's how Reba did and that's how I was going to do it too.
01:33 [Applause]
01:39 All right, let's go.
01:44 [Music]
01:49 Grandpa taught me how to ride on a bus he made when I was five.
01:56 He told me the way of life was in my blood.
02:03 And I learned the ropes had to hold the reins.
02:06 When I got thrown, had to hide the pain.
02:10 He gave me the life, now I get back up.
02:16 And these days, I don't know if he's rounding up a herd of cattle,
02:24 or going parading his old Bronx saddle, or teaching a young buck a hard-learned, well-earned lesson.
02:33 I don't know if he's roaming around just to pass the time somewhere up there on the other side,
02:42 checking a fence line just as the sun is setting.
02:48 But y'all, I'm sure that he's riding horses in heaven.
03:02 Well, I think the angels must have wanted a helping hand.
03:09 And they needed a cowboy, not just any man.
03:16 I don't know if he's roaming around just to pass the time somewhere up there on the other side,
03:24 checking a fence line just as the sun is setting.
03:30 But y'all, I'm sure that he's riding horses in heaven.
03:40 [MUSIC - "HE TOLD ME THE WAY OF LIFE"]
03:43 [CHEERING]
03:45 The windpipe taught me how to ride on a buckskin mare when I was five.
03:52 He told me the way of life was in my blood.
03:59 [CHEERING]
04:02 Beautiful.
04:03 [CHEERING]
04:07 Thank you.
04:08 Thank you.
