00:18:01 Hi, I'm Craig Kress, CEO of USA Softball.
00:18:05 Throughout the last 90 years, USA Softball has worked extremely hard
00:18:09 to not only create first for the sport of softball,
00:18:12 but also to continue to be a leader and to listen to its constituents in the United States.
00:18:18 We're the first in many, many things that have been created for the softball sport.
00:18:22 The first set of unified rules.
00:18:24 The first organization to help amateur umpires be their best and hone their trade.
00:18:30 And also the first to be able to put quality athletes on the field
00:18:33 and continue the training for these athletes as we changed.
00:18:37 USA Softball originally started with women's fast pitch and men's fast pitch.
00:18:41 We now have slow pitch for men and women.
00:18:44 We now have a lot of J.O. ball, which is youth, anywhere from the ages of 8 to 18.
00:18:49 Recreation may have been our start, but we have really worked extremely hard
00:18:54 to give something to the game for everyone.
00:18:57 The last 90 years have been great.

00:21:45 Team USA leads the Futures.
00:21:48 Softball has provided so many opportunities for athletes and umpires and coaches,
00:21:52 but we must continue to look for what our real purpose is,
00:21:56 and that is to promote the sport of softball for everyone.
00:21:59 It doesn't matter what you want to play, whether it be a league game
00:22:02 or whether it be the Olympic level.
00:22:04 It is our job at USA Softball to make sure that we continue to offer those
00:22:08 opportunities for each and every person that wants to play the game.

00:26:02 It's one-nothing.
00:26:10 Ever since the formation of the ASA in Chicago, Illinois,
00:26:13 softball has been the game America plays.
00:26:16 Fast forward 90 years and you'll find our sport headquartered in
00:26:19 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, surrounded by 10 regions built to organize
00:26:24 competition and grow the game across the country.
00:26:27 Within each region, groups of volunteers run local associations to provide
00:26:31 leagues, tournaments, and trainings for players, teams, coaches, and
00:26:36 umpires within their area, all who work with the national office located
00:26:41 back in OKC, or as you may know it by, the softball capital of the world.
00:26:47 Over the last 90 years, USA Softball has grown from a single national
00:26:51 tournament to a massive organization with over 1 million members stretching
00:26:55 from coast to coast.
00:26:57 Within all these moving parts, there are opportunities for everyone.

00:42:50 It all started in 1933 with a simple idea.
00:42:53 Softball is a game for everyone.
00:42:56 And from that idea, the ASA was born.
00:42:59 With standardized rules and organized competition across the nation,
00:43:03 dreams of all shapes and sizes now had a chance to come true.
00:43:08 So no matter your age, level, or experience,
00:43:12 you are a part of the journey that started 90 years ago.
00:43:16 It's time to tell the story of USA Softball.

00:43:49 It's one field.
00:43:50 You're going into the shade and then you're coming back.
00:43:54 You're going out to eat and then you're coming back.

00:47:37 Hi, I'm Craig Kress, the CEO of USA Softball.
00:47:40 Throughout the last 90 years, USA Softball has worked extremely hard to not only create first for the sport of softball,
00:47:47 but also to continue to be a leader and to listen to its constituents in the United States.
00:47:53 It's the first in many, many things that have been created for the softball sport.
00:47:57 The first set of unified rules, the first organization to help amateur umpires be their best and hone their trade,
00:48:05 and also the first to be able to put quality athletes on the field and continue the training for these athletes as we changed.
00:48:12 USA Softball originally started with women's fast pitch and men's fast pitch.
00:48:16 We now have slow pitch for men and women.
00:48:19 We now have a lot of J-O ball, which is youth, anywhere from the ages of 8 to 18.
00:48:24 Recreation may have been our start, but we have really worked extremely hard to give something to the game for everyone.
00:48:32 The last 90 years have been great.
00:48:34 USA Softball has provided so many opportunities for athletes and umpires and coaches,
00:48:38 but we must continue to look for what our real purpose is, and that is to promote the sport of softball for everyone.
00:48:45 It doesn't matter what you want to play, whether it be a league game or whether it be the Olympic level.
00:48:50 It is our job at USA Softball to make sure that we continue to offer those opportunities for each and every person that wants to play the game.
00:49:01 3. Tylea Silistine.
00:49:06 Really a murderer's row of bats coming here.
00:49:11 Silistine flicks it down the left field line.
00:49:14 It's going to fall in and kick away from the left fielder.
00:49:18 She's going to have a leadoff double.
00:49:21 [cheering]

00:53:40 softball has been the game America plays.
00:53:43 Fast forward 90 years and you'll find our sport
00:53:46 headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,
00:53:48 surrounded by 10 regions built to organize competition
00:53:52 and grow the game across the country.
00:53:54 Within each region, groups of volunteers run local
00:53:57 associations to provide leagues, tournaments, and trainings
00:54:01 for players, teams, coaches, and umpires within their area.
00:54:06 All who work with the national office located back in OKC,
00:54:10 or as you may know it by, the softball capital of the world.
00:54:14 Over the last 90 years, USA Softball has grown from a single
00:54:18 national tournament to a massive organization with over
00:54:21 1 million members stretching from coast to coast.
00:54:24 Within all these moving parts, there are opportunities
00:54:27 for everyone. Men, women, girls, and boys can play fast pitch,
00:54:31 slow pitch, or even modified pitch.

01:24:53 All right, sorry about the camera work there.
01:25:02 Futures are going to be in the white and blue,
01:25:05 and Team USA in the blue and white,
01:25:10 I guess you would say, reverse colors.
01:25:13 Kevin Bezat and Everett Williams are still hurt,
01:25:18 so they are not really playing. Everett might hit.

01:27:54 [indistinct chatter]
01:27:58 Alright, Border Battle 2013, Team USA in the field,
01:28:04 led by pitcher Travis Clark taking on Austin Daw,
01:28:08 hitting for the Futures inside-out swing.
01:28:11 And the first baseman's got it.
01:28:14 That's Kyle Pearson at first.
01:28:17 Pearson at first, Canell at second, JoJo Bennett in the middle.
01:28:23 Tyler Marshburn at short, Bubba Mack at third,
01:28:27 a star-studded infield.
01:28:30 Left to right in the outfield, kind of looks like Bradley Jones, Ben Dunn,
01:28:35 and Jeremy Yates, I'm going to say. Phil Mattes catching.
01:28:40 Jeremy Frey, the two-hitter, stands in.
01:28:45 Knuckleball from Clark hits the plate.
01:28:47 74 degrees at game time, wind swirling at about 5-6 miles an hour.
01:28:58 Frey hits it down the first baseline, nobody home.
01:29:01 He's in at second with a double, 75-foot bases.
01:29:08 Fences here, 315 down the line, 355 to the gap,
01:29:13 and 365 to center field.
01:29:23 USA softball rules, 6-12 on the pitching, 50-foot pitching rubber.
01:29:28 The ball is a 52-core, 300 compression.
01:29:34 Tyler Irvine, right over Clark's head, a base hit, it's going to be the first run.
01:29:47 Futures have beaten Team USA four times over the years,
01:29:52 and they did so last year in Oklahoma City as Frey scores.
01:29:56 [players shouting]
01:29:59 Now batting for USA Futures, number 22, Jason Matusek.
01:30:10 [players shouting]
01:30:14 [players shouting]
01:30:17 I did say 6-12, that's the old rules, it's 6-10.
01:30:37 6-10 on the arc.
01:30:41 Jason Matusek at the plate, runner on second is Tyler Irvine.
01:30:47 Clark blocked him.
01:30:52 Matusek walks to bring up Eric Lehman.
01:30:56 Now batting for USA Futures, number 12, Eric Lehman.
01:31:06 [players shouting]
01:31:10 [players shouting]
01:31:13 Alright, you get one courtesy runner in the inning, and that's Emelson Marquez at second for Irvine.
01:31:27 Lehman at the plate.
01:31:36 He swung on, hits a deep left.
01:31:40 Bradley Jones leaps up and makes a catch.
01:31:45 Marquez, the runner, is going to tag two bases and score.
01:31:50 It's 2-0, but a nice play. Jones didn't quite know where he was at on the fence back there.
01:31:55 That's about six feet high.
01:32:00 Now batting for USA Futures, number one, Ryan Deserve.
01:32:06 We're at the Talti Field at the Brookside Reservation in Cleveland, Ohio.
01:32:11 Thanks to the Cleveland Parks and Recreation, former Indians player Jim Tomey had a lot to do with this field.
01:32:20 And Brian Deserve burns the right fielder, runs, going to score.
01:32:25 Deserve on his way to third, and the Futures up three-zip.
01:32:31 [players shouting]
01:32:35 Tyler Story plays with Monsta during the regular season.
01:32:58 And Clark struggling with the zone here in the first.
01:33:02 Two outs now, he's in front of the rubber.
01:33:07 Story takes a strike. Must be fair, last pitch.
01:33:12 Swung on, missed it, back side, long run for Yates. It's going to be a strikeout.
01:33:19 And the Futures get three on no homers in the first. It's a ten home run limit.
01:33:26 USA coming up.
01:33:28 It all started in 1933 with a simple idea. Softball is a game for everyone.
01:33:35 And from that idea, the ASA was born.
01:33:39 With standardized rules and organized competition across the nation, dreams of all shapes and sizes now had a chance to come true.
01:33:48 So no matter your age, level, or experience, you are a part of the journey that started 90 years ago.
01:33:56 It's time to tell the story of USA Softball.
01:34:00 It's time to tell your story.

01:35:27 Brian Deserne at third. Brian McClanahan at short.
01:35:37 Jeremy Fry in the middle. Connor Murray at second. First base, Austin Dawe.
01:35:42 Left to right in the outfield. Looks like maybe, I'm going to say it's Kyle Fisher on the left, but we'll check on that.
01:35:51 Austin Andrews in center. And Tyler Storey in right.
01:35:56 Actually, it looks like Quinn Kanoy on the left.
01:36:00 Lead off hitter for USA, Travis Clark, goes through the middle of base hit.
01:36:06 [crowd noise]
01:36:09 Now batting for Team USA, number 23, Kyle Pearson.
01:36:30 Team USA playing without Josh Riley, had to work.
01:36:34 Everett Williams has the bad knee, but available to pinch hit.
01:36:38 And Kevin Bazad is out this week.
01:36:42 Pearson deep left. Fisher with a long run into foul territory.
01:36:51 And out of play.
01:36:54 [crowd noise]
01:36:57 Pearson deep left center. About the 360 mark and a line drive.
01:37:19 Former two runs I crossed. 3-2 USA trailing.
01:37:25 Now batting for Team USA, number 03, Andrew Collins.
01:37:42 Andrew Collins the batter. First pitch swinging, backside, Daw goes through his legs, off his glove, and into foul territory.
01:37:51 Marked that an error.
01:37:54 Now batting for Team USA, number 30, Jeremy Yates.
01:38:07 The sun is dropping and the sky could affect probably the center fielder, I'm thinking, at some point during the game.
01:38:16 Here's Yates the lefty. Swung on deep right center field by the scoreboard and into the woods.
01:38:26 Collins scores, Yates scores, and USA leads 4-3.
01:38:35 Now batting for Team USA, number 7, Greg Connell.
01:38:39 Greg Connell the batter. I believe that is the correct pronunciation, Connell.
01:38:57 I think we've said Connell for years.
01:39:02 That one's down the middle, swung on a base hit. Both teams of course using a three man outfield.
01:39:08 Here's C. Everett Williams coaching first.
01:39:14 Now batting for Team USA, number 13, Phil Mapp.
01:39:36 Phil Mapp plays the regular season with Rosamondo. Connell at first. Swung on left center, long run for Dunn.
01:39:46 Can't get there, up against the fence. Double for Mapp, Connell cruises in the third as a ground rule double.
01:40:04 Now batting for Team USA, number 25, Bubba Mack.
01:40:08 52 core, 300 compression. Ball, all turf field.
01:40:16 That one's down the middle, back through the box, a base hit.
01:40:21 Matt's running hard on the hit, but he stays at third. It's 5-3 USA.
01:40:28 Now batting for Team USA, number 21, Bradley Jones.
01:40:42 Bradley Jones the batter. Runners on the corners, no outs. Missed it.
01:40:56 Story started back, now he comes in, makes the catch.
01:41:00 Front's going to score, 6-3.
01:41:04 Dunn!
01:41:06 Come on, JoJo, pick him up! Pick your teammate up, let's go!
01:41:11 Now batting for Team USA, number 99, JoJo Bennett.
01:41:22 Bennett hits the knuckleball right back through the box.
01:41:31 You can feel a Rob Humphrey visit coming on.
01:41:34 Humphrey's calling for more arc.
01:41:45 Marshburn the batter.
01:41:58 Swung on, base hit. USA's adjusted their game here this weekend.
01:42:10 The home runs are not free, the bases are loaded though for Ben Dunn.
01:42:15 Over here in the crowd, mighty Mike Masenko there on the left.
01:42:26 Prolific home run hitter of all time in slow pitch.
01:42:29 Lives here in Cleveland. Here's Ben Dunn.
01:42:33 Dunn.
01:42:37 Tried to spin it.
01:42:40 Back goes the left fielder, Kanhoye makes the catch, runs going to score.
01:42:53 Now batting for Team USA, number 8, Travis Clark.
01:42:58 Two outs, USA has seven across, back to the top of the order with Travis Clark.
01:43:17 Runners on second and third, first pitch swinging, back side of base, that should score two.
01:43:23 It'll be 9-3.
01:43:46 Courtesy runners, Ben Dunn in for Travis Clark.
01:43:50 A long first inning for USA, they've put nine across.
01:44:04 They lead by six, Pearson at the plate.
01:44:10 That one's on the plate.
01:44:13 That one's inside, but he hits it through the 5'6" of a set.
01:44:22 Dunn's going to steal third, he's the courtesy runner.
01:44:28 Hey!
01:44:30 Now batting for Team USA, number 0-3, Andrew Collins.
01:44:54 Collins, he goes through the 5'6", making it look easy.
01:44:58 That's why they are the best, Ben Dunn scores, 10-3.
01:45:04 And here comes the Rob Humphrey visit to the mound.
01:45:20 What?!

01:46:20 Yates with two on, two out.
01:46:23 Swung on, base hit, right field.
01:46:26 And it gets by Story on the bounce.
01:46:30 Yates got himself a triple.
01:46:33 Collins scores, Pearson scores, it's 12-3.
01:46:38 Now batting for Team USA, number 7, Greg Conniff.
01:46:49 Greg Conniff.
01:46:50 Conniff deep right, it's about 320 right there.
01:47:11 And it goes out.
01:47:14 Two run homer, 14-3, USA came to play today boys.
01:47:19 Now batting for Team USA, number 13, Phil Matt.

01:48:15 Tyler Story with a running catch down in the right field corner.
01:48:19 About the 310, 315 mark, he'll do it.
01:48:23 15-3.
01:48:24 Hi, I'm Craig Kress, the CEO of USA Softball.
01:48:30 Throughout the last 90 years, USA Softball has worked extremely hard to not only create FIRST for the sport of softball,
01:48:37 but also to continue to be a leader and to listen to its constituents in the United States.
01:48:43 It's the first in many, many things that have been created for the softball sport.
01:48:47 The first set of unified rules.
01:48:49 The first organization to help amateur umpires be their best and hone their trade.
01:48:54 And also, the first to be able to put quality athletes on the field and continue the training for these athletes as we changed.
01:49:01 USA Softball originally started with women's fast pitch and men's fast pitch.
01:49:06 We now have slow pitch for men and women.
01:49:08 We now have a lot of J-O ball, which is youth, anywhere from the ages of 8 to 18.
01:49:14 Recreation may have been our start, but we have really worked extremely hard to give something to the game for everyone.
01:49:22 The last 90 years have been great.
01:49:24 USA Softball has provided so many opportunities for athletes and umpires and coaches.
01:49:28 But we must continue to look for what our real purpose is.
01:49:32 And that is to promote the sport of softball for everyone.
01:49:35 It doesn't matter what you want to play, whether it be a league game or whether it be the Olympic level.
01:49:40 It is our job at USA Softball to make sure that we continue to offer those opportunities for each and every person that wants to play the game.
01:49:48 [Music]
01:49:53 15-3, USA leads Futures.
01:50:03 Top of the second, Murray slices it into right, Ben Dunn on the run.
01:50:08 Not going to make it.
01:50:10 Murray runs well, he's going to have a triple.
01:50:14 Plays the regular season with competitive edge.
01:50:19 Shout out to Mark Patterson and the boys.
01:50:41 Lead off runner on third is Murray.
01:50:44 McClanahan stands in, first pitch from Clark, knuckleball, bouncer between short and middle, and an RBI single.

01:51:58 [unclear]
01:52:07 [unclear]
01:52:09 Canoy at first, Austin Andrews at the plate, trying to roll the top with one out.
01:52:15 Illegal, I believe, was the call.
01:52:22 Andrews swung on, two hopper to Connell, Connell to JoJo Bennett for the force.
01:52:35 [unclear]
01:52:37 Come on, Eddie. Now batting for USA Futures, number 11, Austin Dahl.
01:53:01 Austin Dahl positions, done to right center.
01:53:05 I think Dahl's going to be free swinging here.
01:53:09 Nope, paints the line, gets it past Bubba Mack.
01:53:17 Austin Andrews coming home, he's going to score.
01:53:22 And it's 15-5.

02:10:30 Hi, I'm Craig Kress, CEO of USA Softball.
02:10:33 Throughout the last 90 years, USA Softball has worked extremely hard
02:10:38 to not only create firsts for the sport of softball,
02:10:41 but also to continue to be a leader and to listen to its constituents in the United States.
02:10:46 It's the first in many, many things that have been created for the softball sport.
02:10:51 The first set of unified rules.
02:10:53 The first organization to help amateur umpires be their best and hone their trade.
02:10:59 And also the first to be able to put quality athletes on the field
02:11:02 and continue the training for these athletes as we changed.
02:11:06 USA Softball originally started with women's fast pitch and men's fast pitch.
02:11:10 We now have slow pitch for men and women.
02:11:13 We now have a lot of J.O. ball, which is youth, anywhere from the ages of 8 to 18.
02:11:18 Recreation may have been our start, but we have really worked extremely hard
02:11:23 to give something to the game for everyone.
02:11:26 The last 90 years have been great.
02:11:28 USA Softball has provided so many opportunities for athletes and umpires and coaches,
02:11:32 but we must continue to look for what our real purpose is,
02:11:36 and that is to promote the sport of softball for everyone.
02:11:39 It doesn't matter what you want to play, whether it be a league game or whether it be the Olympic level.
02:11:44 It is our job at USA Softball to make sure that we continue to offer those opportunities
02:11:49 for each and every person that wants to play the game.
