00:00 Mandy Moore is opening up about her 2-year-old son Gus' Giannotti-Crosti syndrome diagnosis.
00:07 Taking to her Instagram stories on July 28, the This Is Us alum captions a series of photos,
00:13 "This sweet boy woke up with a crazy rash on Saturday AM. We thought maybe an eczema flare,
00:19 poison oak? Allergy. We tried to deduce what it could be and did anything to help him find
00:25 relief from the itch. Went to urgent care, pediatrician, dermatologist, pediatric dermatologist.
00:32 All the while he smiles and laughs and carries on with his day like the rock star he is."
00:38 Sharing a photo of Gus' rash, she continues, "Turns out it's a viral childhood rash that
00:44 just spontaneously appears called Giannotti-Crosti syndrome. It sometimes accompanies a cold,
00:50 but not in Gus' case. It's all over his legs and feet, ouch, and the backs of his arms,
00:56 but nowhere else. There's nothing to do but a steroid cream and Benadryl at night,
01:02 and it could last 6-8 weeks." She then concludes, "All of that to say,
01:06 this parenting thing is weird and hard and sometimes you feel so helpless. And yes,
01:12 I'm ever so grateful it's only an itchy skin condition. Kids are resilient,
01:17 and as long as he's smiling through it, we are A-OK." Mandy also shares 9-month-old son Oscar
01:23 Ozzy Bennett with her husband, musician Taylor Goldsmith. And as the mom of two recently admitted
01:29 to E! News, wrangling young boys can be a handful. "Some days I feel like we're barely above water,
01:35 and then I feel a little bit more with it on other moments. But yeah, it's all the things.
01:43 I love it. The potty training is intense, but we're slowly, slowly but surely getting there."
01:49 The 39-year-old also gave insight into the sweet bond Ozzy has with his big brother.
01:54 "He's enamored with his brother. It's very sweet. He just looks at him with awe and wonder all the
02:02 time. He's his biggest fan, and no one makes him laugh more or smile. It's very sweet. The
02:08 two-under-two thing is wild, and not for the faint of heart, but getting to see them be so close
02:15 already, even though Ozzy's not talking yet, he hasn't fully become who he's going to become that
02:21 I see in Gus, it still already just makes me melt." As for the biggest lesson motherhood has taught
02:29 the "Candy" singer? "I feel like before parenthood, I found it hard to advocate for myself.
02:34 I'm a people pleaser intrinsically. I want to make everybody happy, and that's always been a part of
02:40 who I've been and what I bring to the table. But now, I don't find it hard to be like,
02:45 'Nah, I'm going to draw the line here. That doesn't work for me,
02:48 and we're going to just leave it there.'"
02:50 "I'm a people pleaser intrinsically. I want to make everybody happy, and that's always been a part of who I've been and what I bring to the table."
