A shocking news coming in from Mumbai. An on-duty Railway Protection Force jawan has shot four-people on a on-broad train from Mumbai to Jaipur. The victims are identified as three-passengers and a RPF Assistant Sub-inspector.

The accused RPF officer is identified as Chetan Kumar Choudhary. The incident happened around 5 am on Monday between Vapi and Borivali Station. Currently, the accused RPF jawan is under arrest in Borivali Station. The officials got to know about the incident around 6 am in the morning.

According to the statements given by police, the firing was in B5 coach of train no 12956 at Borivali Station. The accused CT Chetan had fired on the Assistant Sub-Inspector Tika Ram.

The accused Chetan fired approximately 12 rounds. The accused Chetan used an AKM weapon for shooting. He used the AKM weapon to shoot the passengers and his senior. An AKM weapon is a modified version of AK 47.

The accused fired at three places in the train, that are the pantry, the B5 coach and in S6 coach.

According to the officials, the accused, after killing his senior, went to another bogie and shot dead three passengers.

After shooting four people, the accused Chetan tried to escape from the train between Mira Road and Dahisar Station, but was luckily grabbed by the Government Railway Police personnel. His weapon was also seized.

According to the RPF Inspector-General Pravin Sinha’s statements, the accused Chetan was short tempered. Further, the statements reveal that there were no complaints of the accused Chetan being upset or anything.

According to the officials, the deceased families have been given the ex gratia amount.

The CPRO Western Railway has called the incident unfortunate. He further stated that the reason for firing is not clear, and the officials are investigating the incident.

Well, this isn’t the first time an incident like this has occurred. Back in 2015, an assistant sub-inspector had shot his senior over an argument of being marked absent in the station diary. He shot the senior inspector 2 times, one at the back and another in the thigh. Later, the accused sub-inspector shot himself.

Incidents like this might shock you, but have you ever wondered about the amount of stress the police officers have to bear, and the amount of work pressure these police officers have with less to zero free time to burst their stress.

Both these incidents have a year gap of 8 years, but has anything been done by the home ministry?

The police inspectors should be provided psychological counseling and proper work life balance and aided to mental health.
