00:00 Hollywood is mourning the loss of Euphoria star Angus Cloud, who died at age 25.
00:07 His family confirmed his passing in a statement issued to Access Hollywood on Monday, revealing
00:11 that the lead actor died shortly after his father passed away.
00:15 "It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today.
00:21 As an artist, a friend, a brother, and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many
00:26 ways.
00:27 Last week, he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss.
00:31 The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his
00:36 best friend.
00:37 Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be
00:41 a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in
00:46 silence."
00:47 The statement reads, adding, "We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter,
00:51 and love for everyone.
00:53 We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss."
00:59 His cause of death has not been made public at this time, but his reps to NBC news that
01:04 he passed away at his family's home in Oakland, California.
01:08 Cloud was best known for his role as Vesco on the hit HBO series, Euphoria.
01:14 Access Hollywood's Zuri Hall spoke to him and his co-stars in January 2022, ahead of
01:19 the Euphoria season 2 premiere, and he talked about why he thinks the show resonates with
01:23 so many people.
01:25 Let's go ahead and kick things off with you, Jacob.
01:28 Obviously this is season 2 of a really groundbreaking show.
01:32 Obviously Zendaya took the Emmy for that amazing win.
01:35 We were all so excited for her.
01:36 You guys are really pushing, yes, the conversations forward.
01:40 How are you going to up the ante, push those boundaries and continue to resonate in season
01:44 2?
01:45 I think the biggest thing was just Sam's writing and prowess.
01:51 None of us have to do anything but show up because he has such a distinct plan and he
01:56 knew what he wanted to do and he knew how he wanted to execute it.
01:59 So pretty much it was just like, come in, be ready and do what's on the paper and just
02:05 sort of trust the process.
02:07 Yeah, absolutely.
02:08 Angus, talk to me a little bit about the show.
02:11 Obviously covering so many pressures of what teens go through in everyday real life.
02:16 You've got social media, these unrealistic beauty standards, addiction, mental health.
02:20 Why is it such a timely show?
02:22 Why do you think now's the time?
02:24 One that it came on the scene and two, why it resonated so quickly and so deeply for
02:29 so many of us?
02:30 Well, I mean, we're in a day and age of where it's like some people literally all they know
02:39 is social media.
02:41 And then I was one of the kids, you know, I was born in 98.
02:46 So I didn't know social media until I became like, probably like whatever, 16 or whatever,
02:53 you know what I'm saying?
02:55 I'm like, I'm like in between those two worlds, you know, but some people are like, it's so
03:01 foreign to them.
03:03 And the rest that's like that, that is their life.
03:05 So like, it's interesting for the people that's foreign to them.
03:10 He is like, what this is, this is how it is now, you know?
03:15 Yeah.
03:16 The people that can relate to it, you know, very, a lot of topics are very timely, you
03:23 know, it's definitely going to survive in the film and world like as a piece of the
03:30 times, you know, because it's so relevant right now, you know, with addiction.
03:37 At this point, it is certainly a major issue.
03:40 And it's something that we're seeing in headlines often now, even in Hollywood, right?
03:44 We're reporting on these overdoses and these deaths.
03:47 And the show really does tackle addiction in a really honest and transparent way.
03:52 And in a way that's important so that we can start having these conversations.
03:56 I want Eric and Austin, if you could just jump in on that.
03:59 When we think about all of the topics that Euphoria touches on, everything is so open
04:03 to interpretation based on the viewer, based on who's watching it.
04:06 What do each of you specifically hope that audiences are taking away just based on your
04:12 personal connection to these stories and to what Euphoria is trying to express?
04:17 Eric, we can kick things off with you.
04:20 I think an understanding that these characters and their behaviors and the mistakes they
04:24 made, there's always moments for redemption.
04:27 I think that's one of the overall themes this season.
04:30 Austin, what do you have to add to that?
04:32 Yeah, I mean, I'm just thinking, when you asked that question, I just thought about
04:38 my character, like in relation to like Barbie, Cat, and I feel like seeing how they're, you
04:49 know, when they actually come together, like what their relationship is actually like.
04:52 And hopefully people can relate to that.
04:56 And like, see themselves in our relationship and maybe learn something or maybe see something
05:04 from a different perspective.
05:06 Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
05:08 So true and well said.
05:10 Jacob, the world has fallen in love with Zendaya's role in Euphoria.
05:14 Obviously Rue is this fascinating, very multi-dimensional character.
05:18 What does that magic feel like on set when you guys are all working with her?
05:21 I mean, she's such a talented actress.
05:24 It's like, it's out of this world.
05:26 And then this season, it's like, again, you sit back and you watch it and you're like,
05:31 you know, that's someone who does their work and knows their craft.
05:34 And I've said it before, and I'll quote it directly.
05:36 She literally, she captains the ship.
05:38 Shush, dog!
05:39 Hi, dog!
05:40 She captains the ship, like, you know, she steers it down the straight.
05:45 She's incredible.
05:46 Yeah, it's really an honor to work with her and it makes the work so much easier, you
05:53 know.
05:54 Because she's doing the acting.
05:58 I just really just got to sit there and react, you know.
06:02 So I'm like blessed, you know.
06:05 Absolutely.
06:06 Yeah, you know, it's the back and forth.
06:09 You need that energy, you know.
06:12 And she always brings that positive and ready to work hustle mindset, you know.
06:19 She gives it.
06:20 That's why she got the Emmy.
06:21 It was well earned.
06:22 Well earned.
06:23 Before I let you guys go, I want to really quickly pivot Jacob back to the kissing booth,
06:28 a little retrospection.
06:30 You stole our hearts in the kissing booth.
06:32 And I'm just curious to know what was that like, that overnight success that came with
06:37 it and really just sort of turning into a heartthrob overnight.
06:42 How most did your life change because of that?
06:44 We want to know.
06:46 No, but seriously, like, you know, I get to sit here now with these actors and talk to
06:51 you.
06:52 And I wouldn't I wouldn't be here making movies and TV if I didn't make those movies.
06:57 So I'm just so grateful.
06:58 You know what I mean?
06:59 Yeah, no, absolutely.
07:00 And the gratitude is key.
07:02 I read somewhere that you said that initially when you were, you know, kind of pounding
07:06 the pavement in Hollywood, your height was a deterrent.
07:09 Is that true?
07:10 Did you feel like you had to play down certain aspects of yourself to book roles in the beginning
07:15 of your career?
07:16 Yeah, I was pretty nervous kid.
07:18 Yeah, I was.
07:20 Everything worries me.
07:22 Really quickly before I let you guys go, you for is all about, you know, love for one another.
07:27 And then most importantly, if you ask me, self-love.
07:30 So I'm curious to know anyone who wants to take this.
07:32 Do any of you have a self-love resolution or a love resolution for the new year?
07:37 And I mean that in the most general way.
07:40 I don't make resolutions.
07:41 I think every day is something new.
07:45 Yeah.
07:47 You know, but it starts with yourself.
07:53 You have to love yourself before you can love anything else.
07:56 Truly.
07:57 Absolutely.
07:58 Bless yourself.
07:59 Don't stress yourself.
08:00 You feel me?
08:01 I'm a fan of that.
08:02 Austin, anything you'd add?
08:03 Yeah, I don't know about resolutions, but it's definitely a resolution.
08:04 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:05 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:06 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:07 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:08 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:09 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:10 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:11 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:12 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:13 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:14 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:17 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:18 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:19 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:20 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:21 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:22 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:23 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:24 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:25 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:26 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:27 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:28 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:29 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:30 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:31 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
08:32 I mean, I think it's a big deal.
