Rahul Gandhi in his old interview at Ideas of India conclave London goes viral amid the on-going communal unrest in Haryana. On Monday, in Haryana's Nuh district, a clash occurred between a mob and a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of two home guards and a civilian. Additionally, 10 police officers were injured in the violent incident as the mob attempted to halt the procession. The clash involved the throwing of stones and the burning of cars. Following news of the violence in Nuh, mobs in the neighboring Gurugram district's Sohna also engaged in protests, setting fire to four vehicles and a shop. Furthermore, they blocked a road for an extended period of time.

00:00 We are sitting on a powder keg.
00:03 We are sitting on a India that is primed.
00:14 We have massive level of polarization.
00:18 We have huge unemployment.
00:21 We have, as I said, the backbone of employment broken and we have massive concentration of
00:28 wealth.
00:29 We are going to have social problems.
00:31 They're coming without any doubt.
00:33 There is going to be a mass upsurge.
00:36 Now the question is can the opposition make that upsurge peaceful, effective in changing
00:47 the politics?
00:49 You could also have a situation where you have an uncontrolled upsurge, which is what
00:55 we are seeing in Sri Lanka.
00:59 India is not in a good place.
01:02 The BJP has spread kerosene all over the country.
01:06 You need one spark and we'll be in big trouble.
01:09 And so I think that's also the responsibility of the opposition, the Congress, that bring
01:14 people together, bring the communities together, bring the states together, bring the religions
01:21 together and say, "Listen, we need to cool this temperature down because if this temperature
01:25 doesn't cool down, things can go wrong."
01:30 You mentioned polarization.
01:34 You must have noticed that the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, publicly at a press
01:42 conference with the Indian External Affairs Minister and Defense Minister present, spoke
01:49 about human rights violations in India.
01:55 That I think coming from the government in the United States, a government which is otherwise
02:03 quite friendly towards India, is certainly something which raised alarms.
02:10 What is the Congress doing about these alleged human rights violations?
02:17 I mean, first of all, I mean, I'm glad the United States has woken up to this idea.
02:24 We've been, you know, we don't need the United States to tell us that there's polarization
02:28 in India.
02:29 In fact, it's taken them quite a long time to sense it.
02:35 We're of course fighting the polarization.
02:38 We're of course holding a position that brings people together and we're doing that.
02:44 The Congress is doing that, the opposition is doing that.
02:48 But I think what the gentleman reflects is that a destabilized India, a India which spirals
02:58 out of control, is a problem for the globe.
03:02 It's not just a problem for us.
03:05 India, democracy in India is a global public good.
